Stopped Medi in April.. rejoining tomorrow

I was very successful on MEdi the first time, lost about 30 pounds.. Then money got tight and tried to do it on my own. I found it much more difficult.. I only gained about 5 pounds but feel like i am spinning out of control. I need to stop it before I put it all back on. So tomorrow morning , will rejoin

I just re-started myself last week after taking a few months off for the same reason. I gained back 10! So I am very glad I made the decision to go back! Best of luck to you and hope you have a great week. My first week back has been great so far. Sticking to it to a T. Feel great. Weigh in Wednesday

I am assuming you guys never made it to the maintenance/wellness stages??? Did you not follow the program when off? Just curious why maintenance would work for some but not for others. We only seem to have a few wellness people on here. This program works for the losing stages but how bout the long term?

2009ismyear - I love your username. I've been saying since January that this year is one that I am going to change my life.

I quit smoking January 1st and have not slipped up once since, and since april 15th I'm down 51 pounds.

this is my year

I realize I didn't really contribute anything to this thread but I had to comment on your username

I have only been on this forum since February, however, everyone in maintenance is doing very well from what I can see. I am unaware of anyone who has reached the Wellness phase yet, although I would bet that McBoo is pretty darn close.

The people who have gained weight back, or who have not lost weight appear to be those who left the program, discontinued the program or failed to follow to program as it is designed for whatever reason. I know this sounds harsh and unfeeling but it is not meant to. This program really does require 100% commitment to reach your goal weight, and 100% commitment to keeping it off, this is a major lifestyle change. There are several people at my clinic who are in the last part of the Wellness phase and are doing extremely well.

Jo,

I am in the wellness phase. It is the same as long-term maintainance. The short term maintainance usually only last a few weeks to a month.

Back to Medi

I too fell off the Medi Wagon for a couple of reasons. Like other member posting the money thing and I didn't feel like the clinic was providing enough support. I was 1lb away from my goal. I decided i was happy with this and needed to move on, for financial reasons. When I returned for my next weigh-in I was discouraged that they posted my actual weight loss less than it actually was. When I brought it to their attention the still didn't correct it. I wanted credit for ever oz so to speak. I will admit that I didn't always make all of my appt's as scheduled but would show that week at another time. My next app't was scheduled with the NP to go over the short term phase, when I arrived she was busy with another new appointment so I was told she would be a while I wasn't able to stay and felt frustrated. I kept it off and then life like before got in the way and I am up at least 20lbs. I am angry at myself for letting this happen and after a couple weeks of attempting to get back on TODAY IS THE FIRST have started out strong. I want return, but the clinic close and sent members to another location it owns. I don't want to travel even further it is already 40 minutes away, an I am afraid I will get the same type of service. I know i can go to another approx the same distance as the last but i don't want to have to restart all over again or pay an additional fee this is expensive and time consuming with the drive. Any suggestions or should I bite my tongue and return to the new location same owners? OK i have vented.....and am ready to get back being a loser...

If I were in your situation, I would go it alone without the clinic. I too have a clinic that does not provide much support, but paying and having to face the scale each week for me is enough motivation and it is only 5 minutes from my house. Also I still have a bunch of weight to lose. Since you have about 20 pounds to lose, you could do this on your own.

You know what you need to do because you have been successful in the past. Also, get the Green Tea fat burners soft gels from Walmart or Costco, get a liquid vitamin B-complex and get a multi vitamin like One A Day Weight control. These will provide the supplements you need. Then follow the diet from the paperwork you received before, journal your food intake everyday on Fitday or the like, drink your water and walk or something for at least 30 minutes everyday. I will bet the 20 pounds will be gone in a couple of months.

Good luck!

Robyn

when you leave the clinic for awhile and then go back, do they just charge you the 70 bucks or do they make you start with the 250 again? Like if you are gone for several weeks and restart?

IF you go back before 6 months, they DON"t charge you the 250.00, just the regular weekly charge..

OK Here is my update. I returned to a Medi clinic, not the same one because the other clinic closed one of its locations and I just didn't want to drive longer than 40 minutes. The new clinic initially told me 110.00 transfer fee it had been less than six months however I don't know the policy. After some conversation with the owner of the new clinic he was able to have the other clinic charge me only 20.00 for faxing my info over. I think I just lucked out. I am back on technically week 2 but officially week one and I have been in ketosis for 3 days now. After weigh in I weighed 158.4 only gained 9.8lbs however that process started before I left the previous clinic and 17.4 up from my lowest weight of 141.0
After reevaluating my reasons/excuses for gaining back the weight was purely my own fault and not the clinic I can find small reasons to contribute but ultimately I am responsible for my success and relapses. What I found is time and time again I get too busy being a nurse/wife/mother and again student and don't allow the time for myself to get in my exercise and journal which ultimately is my success on any weight loss program. So I am recommitting to myself to start fresh with Medi and affirm daily that I can only be one role at a time and to be that I must me first.

Welcome back, as you already know....this program works if you stick to it. Don't beat yourself up and down, and you are correct when you say "me first", me is not any good if unhealthy. Good luck, Ginny

Rodeo - just curious about this but you mentioned that you didn't get the exercise in and didn't journal - but what about your eating? Did you stay low carb? I know many people who have done the low carb and been successful - just to start eating like they did before and of course, they gained the weight back. Although Medi is low calorie, as well, ultimately I know that staying low carb will be what I need to commit to. I am interested in your experience....thanks!

Macauley,

In all honesty, I just got frustrated and threw all caution to the wind. But fortunately I was able to recognize and feel the weight gain. My energy was low and that was mostly because of not enough exercise and to many carbs...Your body really does signal when there are too many carbs. I get too busy and then my physical being is the last to get attention....I love the energy I have when I pay attention to my carbs I will need to continue to work on changing my habits the old ones creep in faster than the new ones stay.
