Lori,

Costco and Walmart both carry a green tea fat burner that works pretty well.

Hi everyone

Wow, I was gone for 6 days and there were 5 pages to read, this site is so awesome!

Looks like everyone is doing well and staying on plan. I had a wonderful vacation and was able to stay on plan. Lots of swimming and scallops. Just love being in the boat all day!!! The downside, I am so sore!!!! Every muscle is telling me about it.

Jessica I hope you are better by friday. Ginny I am sorry to hear what a bad weekend you had, take care.

Susie, those oopies are the best, I am so glad I found that recipe, I wish I could come up with great ideas like that on my own!

good luck to everyone who is weighing in this week

Robyn

Medi has been one of the best things I have done in my life. I vowed to myself that I was going to change things when I turned thirty. Well, that is exactly what I have done. I have chasing my dreams. My first change was to further my education. I am 4 classes away from having a masters degree. The second was to get the weight off. I am still 20 pounds from goal, but Medi has opened my eyes to a lot of things. I aware of what goes into my mouth. I am aware that I eat emotionally. I am aware of the road blocks during my life that made me reach almost 250 before I decided to do something about it. The reality has occured to me that I am the only one that change me and I can not let outside influences affect me. I have had awesome weeks and I have had weeks were I have struggled. I have had two situations lately that make me realize what I am truly doing. One was last night. I was buying a filet knife and was carded in Wal-mart. The woman looked at me and told me there was no way I was over 19 years old. I looked at her, handed her my ID and said ma'am, I am 31. The other was with a friend from work who saw my current picture on facebook and asked if it was a picture of me from high school. I did not realize the 15 pounds I had lost since school got out made that much of a difference. I remember when my XL shirts were tight. I am now wearing a medium and have room in them. I have not worn a size 10 since high school and I was 115 pounds when I wore it then. Thanks for letting me vent!

First week that I gained, up one pound , but down 2 in fat and up in water. Water up probably from all the fluids and meds I was given while in hospital. But I also went to Marshall's today and bought a couple pair of capri's, size 8. Haven't been in an 8 since HS. Does anyone think they make the sizes larger these days? I don't think I am the same size as HS, plus I'm 59, yikes!

I am 31 and still have a few pairs of shorts from high school. It depends on the brand.

Hi Everyone: Hope you are well.

MathTeacher: Thanks for that synopsis of your commitment to change, what you have accomplished and how positively it has affected you. It is motivational.

I had a really tough time today (Day 19) on the motivation front. I did not break down and fall off program. But I thought about it alot. Hard day at work where alot of my emotional eating happens. Big, unreasonable deadlines, little sleep, long hours, and chocolates/breads/chips all over the place. Several times, walking by food, I found my hand on auto-pilot reaching out to grab junk which was destined to get shoved in my mouth.

Reading your summary reset my mental state and put me back in the right frame of mind. Thank you for sharing and for your mentorship.

Layna, I can fell your pain!!! I have been there!

What works for me, is having (if you like them) cups of small pickles. They come in individual containers. So, when I have any bad idea croosing my mind, I just grab a cup of those things and help me with the anxiety.

Also, during those moments, I keep repeating to myself .... eating that XXXXX worths the $70 I will have to pay for an extra week in the program? every single time is not worthy, and take those bad ideas out of my mind ...

I have survived a 2 weeks vacation out of the country, a cruise and some family gathering while in the program!

Stay strong! you will be slender in no time!

Hi all! It has been great reading the 5 pages of posts and catching up on everyone! It is so good to read them all and see the positive messages. Very reassuring! Hope you all had a great 4th! I was on vacation in NJ visiting my family. We took our 2 year old to Sesame Place which was a treat! I think I did pretty well on the plan. I am sure I went over on calories a couple days but it was mainly all protein (and a few glasses of wine ). I survived diners, pizza places and my husband ordering room service a few times! All in all I was pleased and would be very happy to see the scale just stay the same for the week! I lost 3 last week to make it 23 in 4 weeks which I was so excited about. Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Hi guys! I lost 2.5 lbs this week...little less than usual because I've been really sick with a tummy virus! My husband's brother had it and shared it with the whole family. I've been too ill to exercise, and struggled to even keep down the broth I was drinking. My BP today was way too low. Been resting a lot...worrying about work and how I'm going to get all of it done in time for my big order next month. I'm a textile artist, and I really have to get the batiks done and the yarns dyed. Not to mention that I have to design a piece of knitwear for a magazine...the due date is October, but having to design, knit, and chart a pattern can take me a long time to get just right. >.<

Hope you guys are all doing well, I can't wait until I have more time to talk with you all here!

~Anda

This may not work for you since you have already asked your clinic about it, but I have been inadvertently going every other week and my clinic has not raised an eyebrow at all. I have made the appointments and then canceled them the day or two before (husband traveling so no sitter) or told them (honestly) that I was traveling for the whole week so I would not be able to come in. It may vary from clinic to clinic but this has worked for me and I realized it's kind of nice because I'm saving money! I weigh at home to track my progress so I know I'm not falling off track. And I bought a good quality B-vitamin to take in my "off" weeks so I'm not missing out some of the benefits of the shot. I took the sheet that details what is in both shots and went to a natural foods store and tried to match up a vitamin that had the same ingredients and came pretty close.

I don't mean to advocate "cheating" the system, but at the same time I realize that $70-80 a week is a big expense and cutting that down can help a lot. I think we all deserve to have this wonderful program to help us lose weight and it makes me sad to think that someone has to give it up because it's so expensive.

Just went to my first week weigh-in but couldn't get weighed because of a cast on my leg. They moved me into week 2 which included 500 calories protein plus 1 cup cooked or 2 cup raw veggies ( about 5 carbs worth). Also could add 3 snacks per week, which look like ff cheese, diet jello, lowcarb yogurt, light salad dressing, 6 almonds, etc. Max carbs is 25 daily...(which seems like a lot to me).

I use fitday. Can anyone share what your calories/carbs/fats look like in week 2?
Do you have a fat gram goal? My first week my fats where around 10grams. Should I keep it there? Calorie-wise is 550-600 realistic?

When I asked at the clinic they said to just eat from the list and I should be okay. I am a numbers-gal so would love to hear how all you successful people handled week 2.

Thanks.

There have been quite a few studies done about this. It's now referred to as vanity sizing and is quite common in the US apparantly. If you type the term into a google search you'll see plenty of articles on it. Makes me pretty mad personally...even as much as I would like to see the smaller number on my clothing all it really does is make it more 'acceptable' for our society to be overweight and unhealthy.

Lori,
Sorry to hear that you cant go to the clinic however you have been on the program for a while so you know what you need to do. Continue eating on plan as close as possible. Absolutely make sure you have a good multi-vitamin, calcium and omega 3. Some people also have taken the sublingual B-12 and they have said it helps. As I posted earlier you can get the Green Tea fat burner at Walmart or Costco. Absolutely make sure you get all your water and exercise in. Get yourself a digital scale if you don't have one. When you weigh yourself use that number as your starting point. It will most likely be different from your last weigh in at the clinic. If it is higher (which it usually is) don't let that get you down. You will now have a new starting number as your guide.

Also continue to post here to get the support you need . Good luck. There are a few people on here now that are doing the program without the A/S.

As far as maintainance for me it is going well. Thanks for asking.

You can do this.

McBoo

Awesome Weekend!!

Well, I didn't want to post until after I had my weigh-in this week because I did cheat a little while I was in Charleston
First of all, I had some alcohol BUT I did NOT have my shrimp and grits (which I wanted SOOOO badly)! We were in the historic district of Charleston so we parked the truck for the whole time we were there! So, we walked everywhere, which was great for us both! Add in the heat of summer (90s+) and the humidity-phew-which was thick and ended up with a great exercise program We literally walked for miles-first with the ghost and dungeon tour, and then all way round the perimeter of the Cooper River and back up King St. etc.
I resumed my workout routine when I got back and NOW>>>the weigh-in..
I lost 3.5lbs, 2.5lbs of it was fat!!!! My BMI is now under 30 so I'm only overweight and no longer OBESE . My waist has gone from 44" to 31" and I'm now wearing size med-lg (depending on the cut) instead of 22-24 or 3x
For all our newbies and will keep those trying without going to MWL in my prayers to give y'all strenghth because it is sooooooo worth it to lose the weight and get your lives back

Belated thanks for all the birthday wishes-I really did have a very happy one! It's the first time my hubby has taken my birthday off, nevermind a long weekend over it (we've been together for 10yrs but married for 8yrs on the 27th).

And my absolute appreciation for all those who are so supportive... McBoo and Rose and Susie.....just to name a few

to all the "losers" this week and I agree...lbs of fat gone counts as much as lbs lost on the scale!

to all

Cindy

Hello MWL Friends,

I know I have not been posting in a while but I have been reading all of the post. It seems like everybody is doing such a great job. Its great to go to a website where you can read about others experiences and motivate others who are going through hard times bc I am sure we've all been there including myself. There were days where I thought I was going to give up like I did the first time I tried Medi. I am so focused this time around bc I know that I need to lose the weight before it get carried away.

I am happy to say that I went in for weigh ins today and I am down to 138! i could not believe that Tanita Scale I was truly amazed! I did not think it was going to be that much. Thats about 5lbs since last week. I am really on a roll...lol I am just hoping that I can continue bc I am so tired of taking all these pills

Keep up the great postings. Good luck and good job to all of ya'll!!!

Cindy,

Thanks for the post. I think it is so important for us to remember that we can still celebrate, vacation and live while on this WOE. It is not like one alcoholic beverage and all the weight goes back on. That can only happen if we let it. It's all about positive attitude, planning for success and forgiveness when we have a small lapse.

Congrats on the losing even while celebrating your birthday and on no longer being obese. I know how good that feels. I had to get a letter stating a diagnosis and treatment plan from my Medi doctor for my Flexible Spending Account to pay out. The diagnosis was high cholesterol and other health risk factors caused by obesity. It was hard to read, but I am happy to say I have been treated and cured!

Orlando - What is your first name? Glad to hear about your blood work. I loved the advice you gave to Layna about incentives to stay on program. You were right on. I am curious about the pickles. What brand are they? Are they jerkins?

Jessica and Ginny - Boy are you guys being challenged. Hang in there, I know you will pass this test with flying colors and better days will come. Ginny, congrats on the size 8's and on the fat loss. All in all you did okay.

Kari, Kate, and Tiff - Congrats on your losses! You are a great inspiration.

Lori - Sorry to hear that your clinic is not willing to work with you so that you can finish with them. You have the knowledge and the commitment to do this on your own. If for any reason you backslide and feel like you are losing control, consider going back. You cannot put a price tag on the 75 pounds you have already lost.

Robyn - Welcome back and congrats on staying on plan while on vacation. Thanks for posting the oopsie roll recipe. I keep myself constantly stocked in them. I make 1 batch that is not sweet, for use as bread for sandwiches, and 1 batch sweet to use as a breakfast bread or dessert.

Shas - I envy your youth. I have noticed that this diet has taken years off of me too. You look wonderful in your avatar. You really seem to have it all together. You have a great attitude.

Layna and Anda - Congrats on hanging in there even though you are stressed out. Don't let stress get the better of you. I found this article about destressing at work ... De-stressing at work!.

Robynld - I just realized how close you are to goal! WTG!!!

Jo, McBoo, and Celia - Just wanted to say .

Susie

Do you have a fat gram goal? My first week my fats where around 10grams. Should I keep it there? Calorie-wise is 550-600 realistic?

When I asked at the clinic they said to just eat from the list and I should be okay. I am a numbers-gal so would love to hear how all you successful people handled week 2.

Thanks.
twinsplusone - I would love to know your first name. Sorry you couldn't weigh-in after week 1, because it is such a motivation, but you seem to have a good handle on this WOE. Shas (aka mathteacher) is right about how what we eat depends on the day. I was eating 700 calories on days that I exercised and 500-600 calories on days that I was not. I didn't track my fat grams, but ate very lean and low fat as part of keeping my calories down. I kept carbs below 25g per day. Now that I am on maintenance I am eating more, but do not take the AS. Good luck and keep posting.

Thanks Heidi, I had never heard of that but it sure makes sense. I still feel better that I have gone down a few sizes. The articles on "vanity sizing" are very interesting. I new I wasn't close to looking like I did in HS, pre-babies and now I know why.
I used to play competitive tennis on a A team and they had A, B, C, and D level leagues. None of the ladies wanted to be listed as D players so the league changed to Upper A, Lower A, Upper A-1, Lower A-1, etc.......sound familiar, it sold?

Thanks so much Susie. That is exactly what I was looking for! Just some general guidelines. I have done Atkins for so long, I am out of the habit of low-fat. Just was not sure what a day would end up looking like.

I feel so hopeful with this program. Again, it is probably the AS and ketosis working because I am not hungry or craving anything. I can be around people eating and not even care to indulge.

Thanks again for helping me.

And my name is Grace

Susie: Thank you very much for the article on de-stressing at work. Some good suggestions in there. Like the idea of taking a short walk. Thx again.

Susie, my fisrt name is Silvia. Sometimes I write my name at the end of the reply, but most of the times I forget to write it.

The pickles are Mt. Olive. They are the Kosher Baby Pickles. very good to munch and with zero calories and zero carbs. They are very small and crunchy. They come in small to go cups. In the pickle/olive area in the supermarket

I ate them today, as "fries" with my oopsie hamburguer very satisfying!

Have a great evening
