I think the Medi Facebook group is geniune, I just think they should have given Susie (or whoever) credit for the recipes that were posted there

Where were the recipes? I only saw a couple and they are from the Medi website. I know when it comes to computer stuff I am kind of illiterate, did I miss them? Important thing is we all know who has done all the work with the recipes, Susie, McBoo, Desert Rose, etc.
I am making Susie's Chicken Chili as we speak.......

I believe the invitation to join was submitted by DOCPROV who actually is an RN for MEDI. Whether or not that is the same site I don't know. I am always leary of those things, so you guys are all I have or need.

They were in the Medi Rhode Island group, in a discussion thread. I believe it was called New Meals or something. There are multiple Medi fan groups on Facebook so it may not be the same one you're on

Uhhh, yes, she is from the RI group and had asked us to join her sight a while back. I will have to take a look. She answered a few questions for people on here, I think.

My weigh in went well today, lost 1.3. I really kicked it in the past two days and did a spin class last night that nearly killed me and I have been spinning for over two years! I know it will be slow going from here on in so I will have to keep my focus. Susie, how has maintance been? I cannot wait to hear from you this week! I tried the Miracle noodles for the first time today. After I sniffed them ,I almost threw them out! Then I remembered they need to be rinsed and soaked, that helped, thank God! I made the Hungry Girl alfredo, It actually was good! Congratulations to everyone this week, some great numbers out there, and beautiful pictures too!

If this was the case why not post under the docprov name. There are only 2 post by this user and they were in the medi payment and medi vegtable thread.

~Gretta~ WTG girl! You are doing so very well! You know, I just could not handle those miracle noodles. I tried several times, using all of Susie's tips, but I think those noodles and I are just not going to be friends!

I'm still in my boot, partially ruptured achilles, I can't wait to try spinning or some form of aerobic exercise. Great job, you only have 8.5 to goal? You are very very close.

WTG Gretta!!!!! That is awesome!

I tried the miracle noodles in the alfredo and it was not for me, but I am not a big alfredo person anyway. I thought they were OK in soup though! I wish I could get just 1 packet of orzo or something that's not quite so stringy to try, but I don't want to order a whole bunch

ohmeohmy- (cute name, by the way!!) Hang in there! Week 1 was the longest for most of us but the reward is sweet! I find now that my weeks fly by and I'm back at weigh in again.. honestly, weigh in is the highlight of my week a lot of times! Sad but true If you're feeling good on Day 3, then you're in great shape!!!

~Ginny~The only thing I can think of is something that you may have eaten, or perhaps you took your AS a little later? Or, perhaps not enough water? At a loss at the moment for any other explanation. Or...slept with your mouth open?

I thought I might have eaten something different that had loads of sodium but looked at journal and same ole stuff I have eaten all along. I'm not very creative, I am a creature of habit. Oh well, other then that I feel fine. Tomorrow is another day. Oh, and my mouth is always open, Thanks Jo.

Hiya, I posted a separate thread because i didnt notice the July thread...

Anyhoo, here is my question.. I started a Medi-type plan on June 15. I ate protein only for 2 days, and then added vegetables.

My doctor told me that he would advise I eat protein only for 1 week, and then go back to having the vegetables again.

I have had a bit of a "stall" this third week, which STINKS! If I start again on Protein only, do you think I will still have dramatic "first week" type losses?

Just wondering your thoughts. I don't like the protein only part, but I will do it again. I was thinking of doing 3 days protein, then 4 days protein with veggies... for a few weeks. Has anyone tried this? What are your thoughts?

I think you'll be really malnourished if you do that for very long! Week 1 is like a reset for your body but you need the vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies. It seems like it would be pretty hard on your system to deprive yourself of those things regularly.

Also, you did not put the weight on in huge spurts (most likely) so it will not come off naturally in huge spurts either. It's always advised to lose slower so that you have a better chance of maintaining. Your skin will look much better too! Fast weight loss often leads to saggy skin. Make sure you're being realistic in your expectations!

Just my opinion.. this is why we go to the clinic directly, to ask these kinds of questions and get their medical advice

Yeah I wish I could afford to go to the clinic.. I have to do it "cold turkey" which is not too bad after about 3 days, but those first 3 days were a NIGHTMARE!!!

Maybe you are right though, since my doctor said it was OK to go back to Protein only for a week, maybe I'll do that for just one week and then stick with the veggies and protein like the plan says until i lose all the weight..

I guess the way my Dr explained... by only doing protein for 2 or 3 days, my body never really "fully ketosified" as it would have if I had done it for a week.

Does the true Medi-Weight Loss plan have you on protein only for a full week?

IDK.. the whole point of doing only protein is to get into ketosis... so why shoot for "not fully ketosified"? Are you testing for ketosis?

Yes, week 1 is only protein, but only week 1.

Kidcallous - this is week eight for me and I have had a couple of weeks that were slow on the scale - your body just might be adjusting. Keep moving forward and it will happen. I have yet to really add back fruit - I am sticking to just veggies and protein for now...

Made Miracle Noodles (angel hair) for dinner tonight. Prepped them as I read...no gross smell then used butter spray, minced garlic, 2 tbsp parmesean, and lots of mushrooms...thank goodness for noodles...I was so worried they would be nasty since I ordered twenty 7oz bags without ever trying them! I bought mine from Asian Food from Pocky to Miso | AsianFoodGrocer.com. Maybe some brands have less of a bad smell?

I experienced the same thing this morning. I did two things differently..took my AS later in the evening at 6PM and it was the first evening my dosage increased to 2. I drank 3 16oz bottles of water that night after the pills and my mouth was dry this morning. I'm going to take my pills earlier since it wasn't a water issue. But sure did kick my snacking problem...although bedtime didn't happen till 1AM!

Everyone have a Safe and Happy 4th!!! I'm going out of town to San Diego the next 4 days...with my SCALE and pills!

Hi - The website I bought mine from sell them individually although it's more worth it to order more for the flat shipping price. Mix it up. I swear my bag didn't smell when I first opened it. Nice consistency too!

TXGRLY- Thanks I wish they had the smaller orzo size, though. The smell didn't bother me, it just didn't quite do much for me overall. But I will try again!

so are you doing this plan "on your own"? Used to go to MWL clinic, had to stop due to cost, debating right now the effectiveness of the plan without AS? Any thoughts out there? I can stick to protein only, but am worried about calories.

How are you faring "on your own"

I have stuck to the medi way of eating all week lost 7lbs and im not in ketosis. If i stay out okf ketosis do you think ill still lose as much as i did this week? dont understand why iam not getting there. I just bought new strips. So it cant be that this time. I asked the clinic this and all they keep telling me is not to worry as long as i keep losing. If i was in would i lose more ? What am i doing wrong the only thing other then protein and water i eat a hundred cal pack of almonds a day. could it be that? please some one tell me what you think, because iam lost. sue

Sue - my clinic said I should only eat almonds a couple of times a week - some people never go into ketosis - there is a great thread about it. Obviously something is working because you lost seven pounds! Are you eating any carbs? Some proteins are a bit deceiving and the carbs add up quicker than you think. Are you staying under 20?
TXGRLY - you take two pills at night? I am amazed you slept at all!
mathteacher - great job -love the new photo!

I never used the Appetite Supressants, I did the whole deal on my own. It is hard, especially the first 3 days, but it is doable. You have to be very disciplined, and want it. I hang skinny pictures around as a motivation, and I was able to suffer through it.

TRUST ME - If *I* can do it, you can do it! You need to stay on this bulletin board for support, but it can be done without the doctor. It's not the pills and shots that make you lose weight, its the diet. The pills and shots help people to get through the tough portion restrictions... If i could afford it, i would have done it that way too!
