Good job, now you know you can do it. Have you tried any of the dessert recipes on here? When I get the chocolate hungries I eat one of the Chocolate dusted Almond bags. Quite tasty and just enough chocolate for me.

Don't fret, you have 3 more days and your scale may be different from theirs. If you are following everything and are only eating the 500 calories, there is no way you won't loose. Just make sure....water water water and when you think you can't drink any more....keep drinking. Good luck, you will do fine.

Don't get discouraged, it happens to most of us. Next week will be better. I must admit I hate when TOM is visiting on weigh in day!

~Texas~Focus on the positive. You LOST .6. And forget about the nighttime nuts....not a good idea. Try a SF jello instead...a whole lot less calories and a still a satisfying treat. Are you writing down everything you put in your mouth in your journal? That is a great way to keep track throughout the day of exactly where you are! And remember as well, that you did not gain the weight in two weeks, and it will not all come off in two weeks either. This is a major lifestyle change you are embarking upon..and it really truly does require 100% commitment from you. MWL is not a quick fix, but a lifestyle you will follow for the rest of your life.

And for heaven's sake, do not beat yourself up over this. Just do like Kari is doing. Get back up on the horse and keep on riding!

Hang in there, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

To be truthful, there is no clinic out there that is "exactly like" MWL although there are a lot that would like to be and liberally use parts of the MWL name in their titles, but there is only one MWL. The other programs you are talking about, I cannot comment on without losing my temper, so I shall refrain.

Nonetheless, feel free to share and come in for support and encouragement.

Thanks for the welcome! Actually, the program is pretty much identical according to what I've read on the boards.

Hi Maria, good luck!!

Robyn, girl, I'm thinking by the time we get together you won't need any of my clothes because they'll all be too big!! LOL

Jo, great ideas on the BBQ options! We're not doing much Saturday but the cheesecake is a great option for special occasions. So nice to know there are some yummy dessert options for us!!

Kari- I had a pretzel moment like that the other day and I was so happy to resist!

Ginny- You are soooo close!! I'm excited for you!!

I did a little shopping at Target last night and tried on clothes.. one of my new FAVORITE activities because I can see where I am! I fit well into a pair of 16W jeans and bought a dress from the MINUS side (not the plus side!!). I am psyched. Granted, it's the biggest size on that side of the store, but still!!!! I bought 4 things, NONE of which were "plus size" clothes!!! That felt GREAT!

Maria and Ohmeohmy -

Gretta - You are in the home stretch. Hang in there and you will be joining us in the maintenance thread soon.

Macauley, fit2b50 and fab50 There is a lot of us nearly or barely 50, the tail of the baby boomers. It is so great that we all chose to greet 50 in good health and at our best. fit2b50, congrats on your week 1 weight loss! Now check out the recipe threads.

Mimi and Ginny Great losses this week. WTG! Mimi, bring what works for you to the parties. You should not bring items that will tempt you, and if your friends/family can't understand that they are not supportive. Explain to your friends/family how important this is to you. Look at the recipe thread. There are plenty of wonderful items that you can still bring. I have never had anyone complain about the Medi friendly food I've brought. There is just no reason to sabotage yourself. Ginny, wow!, you are sooo close. I will see you soon in the maintenance thread. It seems like just yesterday that you thought I was a salesman from nutrition.

Robyn - Love your new avatar. I am celebrating your new size! It is such a wonderful feeling to realize the transformation you are making. I have to warn you that once in a while you should pinch yourself to make sure it is real. I still think I'm going to wake up and look like I did 7 months ago.

Kari - It is great that you are recognizing and celebrating your success along the way. It takes many good decisions to make it all the way to goal, and you have started on the path. Congrats!

TXGRL and Layna - Do not get discouraged. You both had tremendous losses week 1. You body may need a week to adjust. In my weight loss journey I often followed a big loss with a small one. That pattern got me all the way to goal, losing 62 pounds in 7 months. You will do it too.

Thanks for all the great posts. You guys are great!

Susie

confused

OK, I guess it is my turn for the pep talk as I am frustrated!

This past week I have been very dizzy and lightheaded, esp if I bend over. I read back through the board, did some googling and came up with dehydration and needing more electrolytes. I might have mentioned before, but I have also had a pretty rapid decrease in blood pressure. While that is a good thing for sure, clinic thought it happened too fast (??) I went from Week one 148/100 to Week 4 of 118/78.

Something also affected my weight loss, as in weighing in yesterday I only lost 1.5 pounds. I have written absolutely everything down in my journal, including all 128 ounces of drink, including at least 32 ounces daily of electrolyte (Powerade Zero, CL Hydration, or Smart Water). The clinic went over page by page of my journal and said I am doing the program perfectly, which I have been very dedicated to doing. I just cannot imagine at my weight consuming under 600 calories total why I only lost 1.5 #

Clinic is sending me back to my regular doctor for blood pressure review, electrolyte evaluation and a Rx medicine review. Of course, with the holiday, I cannot get in until Monday. Now I am nervous something is wrong and I sooo want this program to work! Clinic tells me that 27 pounds in 5 weeks is awesome, which I am proud of. I am just concerned about this stumbling block.

~Amy~Got the numbers...just think..that 16 pounds are gone for good! You will never have to look at them again! I'd say that is pretty darn fantastic! The weight did not just arrive one day, look around, and say hi here I am....and it will not all go away in a few weeks either. You are doing very well, so please so not be discouraged. Follow up with your personal doc and go forward from there. Think about all the positives. And being as dedicated to the program as you are will help you make it through. We are all here for you.

Thank you everyone for all the words of encouragement. I really do feel better.

I must have missed tracking a snack or didn't calculate the correct food portion. Week 1 I literally weighed everything before eating. Week 2 I went out to eat 3 times guestimating on my portion of protein. Also week 2 I was allowed to have snacks. I know I had more than 3 snacks over the entire week. I have learned that no matter what this is an extremely strict diet and cannot even go slightly off plan. If I knew what I was doing I wouldn't be going to MWL in the first place. Lesson learned and hopefully this will help anyone in a similar situation.

It's called lifetime midical weight loss and is in Wilmington. I couldn't find anything hen I googled it. It is pretty small scale but I am just adapting what they gave me to MWL. The only diff I've found is that you don't start adding veg til after week.

On another note, the closest MWL to me is in Charlotte and my 17 yo daughter lives there. Is there an age minimum. I'd really like to get her started. She's about 70 lbs overweight and I know it would do wonders for her self esteem. She's just broken up with her high school sweetheart and is devastated. I think it will help her alot.

TXGRLY- I think you'll find that after a few more weeks you'll be able to relax into the program a bit more. You do need to stick carefully to portion sizes and "legal" foods, but you'll start to learn what portions look like and it will become 2nd nature. But you're right, it's important that if you get a little off track, you refocus on the basics Hang in there! Also, make sure you're exercising.. it really helps!

Amy- Of course, talk with your Dr, but I'm wondering if you need more calories? I know Jerry was on a higher calorie allowance because of his starting weight.. perhaps that would help with the dizziness? Just an idea, but of course follow your clinic's advice. BTW, 16lbs is awesome!!!

Jo- Thanks for the encouragement!! And I keep meaning to mention, I love the picture of you with your daughter!

Weighing-in today.. hoping for a loss even though I've been sick all week and only managed to squeeze in exercise last night.

It is very motivating and I feel very hopeful this will work for me! I am sure all your tips and advise will come in handy in the coming weeks. Maybe some day I will have success and be able to share my experience also.

Maria and Twins~ You will find that this is a warm, friendly and supportive group. We are all here for the same reason - good health and all of the rewards that good health brings. Please add your stats to your profile so that we can celebrate your success with you!

~Jessica~Thank you for the compliment about the picture. I have to tell you that the picture was taken in 2006 and I weighed 216 in that picture. I actually did not have a newer one...having been most careful to avoid cameras. I did have a few pictures taken at Christmas this past year and I want to cry when I see them...I cannot believe I allowed myself to get to 262. I let them take pictures though because I had just begun the program and wanted to document my progress. One of these days, when I figure out how to upload two pictures I can add in the December picture and one from late March at the Renaissance Faire. Maybe I will have one from this weekend as well, and I can learn to do a slide show like McBoo did.

~Ginny~We have a heavy cloud cover with just a few patches of blue. I was pretty sure we had sent some AZ sunshine onward to you...maybe it is just taking a little time getting across the country!

~Texas~ Jessica is giving you really good advice. I have the scale sitting out and still use it to this day on foods where I am not all that sure about the weight. You will get more confidence in "weights and measures" however, I suggest still checking when you are unsure. And when eating out, I always check the restaurant online and see if their menus are posted. Some actually have nutritional values as well...even the infamous Macaroni Grill (what a minefield) is beginning to do this. I found a website that has some good restaurant info on it for large national chains. I will go back and find it and post it in here. And make sure you enter every single thing you put in your mouth. A grape, a berry, a "bite" of this or that...it all adds up.

Maybe some day I will have success and be able to share my experience also.
Thanks again.
Does twinsplusone mean you have twins + one more child?

Just curious. I have 28 year old twin daughters + 13 year old son.

I am 50 years old. Lost 38+ pounds on this program. Just today I had a lady here at work actually tell me that I look 20 instead of 50 -- she said even in my face - not just my body -- that was quite a surprise.

I have been on maintenance for a couple of weeks now. Lost 3 pounds during that first week of maintenance. Feel like I've lost at least another pound or so this week.

I am so very, very, very, very thankful I found Medi -- my body absolutely, positively LOVES this program.

Good luck!

- Kathy

How weird is it that all of a sudden a poster named "MediWeightloss" is showing up and inviting us to join their Facebook page?

TXGRL,

We are almost the same weight...and trying to loose about the same also. To make it even better..we started around the same time also!

I remained FLAT for my 2nd week weigh in on Tuesday of this week...but i did loose 1 and a half inches off my waist! It happens! I was holding lots of water...I think the body was in shock the first week when we lost so much and now the body is getting into the process of our new diets/food choices.
Heck I lost 6 pounds the first week....so 6 pounds in two week now...thats fine by me! WE WILL GET THERE!!! Like someone else said..we have less to loose also...this can also have an effect on our weight loss. KEEP IT UP!!!!
We will loose this together!!!!!

I found that weird too.... I think it was a scam. The moderators will probably do something about it or at least check it out. I would not reply to it, just to be safe.

Also, Hello to everyone!!! And Welcome to the newbies.

I really don't have any advice for anyone as it has been covered really well!

I do have to say though I am loving how confident we are all becoming with this WOE. We all do things a little differently but we are all having great sucess. I am proud to be a part of this plan.

I am in Homosassa Florida for a few days at our place on the Halls River. July 1 through September 12 is Scallop season here in northwest Florida. We try to scallop every possible minute that we can! Thank goodness these little buggars are Medi Friendly. In case you don't know what a scallop is, it is kind of like a clam, except it does not live in the sand, it sits on top of seagrass in very clear pristine water (they are very sensitive). Anyway to collect them, you snorkle or scuba dive and pretty much collect them like a child collecting easter eggs! It is my most favorite activity! This year is even better because I have lost 60 pounds meaning swimming, diving and getting in and out of the boat is going to be so much easier. Also the swimming is going to be great exercise since we spend anywhere from 3 to 5 hours swimming collecting them!

Sorry for the long post!!!! Everyone please have a safe and wonderful holiday with your friends and family. Looking forward to hearing everyones adventures.

Love
Robyn
