Day two, still going strong!

Hi everyone!
Well, day 2 and I am making it! Crystal Light is my friend, but wow, my Hubby is really being a great support. He is eating along with me, but he is eating veggies and fruit as in the week 2 and after, but we went to our usual breakfast place, I had a 3 egg white scramble with no oil or butter and did great with a little tabasco on it! He had egg beaters with cottage cheese and tomato, not week 1 but he is thinking he can do this too!
We did go to the Sprouts Market and got the Walden Farms no carb dressings and katsup for week 2. I have gone to several Lo carb sights and looked at recipes so that is giving me great encouragement for the weeks to come. I have never tried the Lo carb thing before, but I can see where I has such an addiction to sugar that this could really work for me. I am feeling pretty good, a little headache tonight but so far so good!
Wish me luck, I am go glad I found this board to read all the encouraging posts.

Whew!! Today was tough for me , partly my fault.

I was on the verge of having a big cheat today but I got control of myself...sort of.

I was frustrated today because we had to take my dog to the groomer early, she has a standing 9:00am appt but they were way overbooked today so she was not ready until 6pm.

In btwn that time I did things around the house , did my hair and had a little tiff with my DH and went furniture shopping. I failed to prepare and was thirsty and hungry.

So when we went to the store I threw a DiGiorno flat bread pizza in the cart and some boneless buffalo wings . I was planning on getting home and indulging myself in the usual emotional eating trap to soothe my frazzled nerves.

I was even thinking to myself that I would call the clinic early Monday (my weigh in day) and tell them that I could not make it . Thankfully I took a shower before I started my binge fest and in that time I re-thought my self sabotage.

So I wound up making a whole 7oz can of water packed tuna into a salad. I used full fat mayo, mustard, (2tbsp) sf relish, tbsp of onion and seasoning on a bed of lettuce, 1 pickle spear and I used some pork rinds as crackers and I had a cf diet coke with that. It's not what I would usually eat on plan but for the most part it was carb free and satisfying .

I know it was high on the sodium but hopefully I won't be out of ketosis and will be able to say I lost at least a lb or 2 this week because other than my bad day today. I have followed the plan exactly.

Now, I'm going to bed at 9 on a Saturday night so I won't get anymore gluttonous ideas

Hey Sue in AZ,

I'm glad you're doing so well in your 1st week. It's a blessing to have a supportive Hubby . Mine is very supportive also.

I try to prepare ahead of time too but I messed up today.

When I was at my Curves yesterday one of the trainers saw me pour a pkt of Crystal lite into my water and told me about these teas that I could get if the aspartame was a problem. I guess she is against the use of it .I know a lot of folks on this board are too.

Well anyway, they are by 4C and they come in the same little pkts as CL and they come in different tea flavors like lemon tea, red tea, white tea w/ lemon and a couple others and their sweetened with Splenda. I picked up a few boxes today because I too drink a lot of water and depend on the CL sometimes to change it up a bit. I tried 1 already and it had a nice flavor a little lighter than CL.

Keep it up your gonna have a great weigh-in.

Jerry: Congrats! Completing a spinning class is an accomplishment. At the place where I go (sometimes), they turn off all the lights, and crank the music. It is like some kind of weird rave disco on bicycles at 5:45 am and great fun.

Jerry,You are amazing! Great job on the spin class! I have been spinning for over two years, and I love it . It is addictive after awhile and a great workout. Just being able to finish the first class is an acomplishment!

Walden Farms makes some. I found it at our local health food store, zero carbs. I have NOT tasted it yet ( still in week 1) but plan to when I can.

Thanks, I will try that! I have been taking the CL packets and only using 1/2 for each 16 oz drink so it is not as concentrated, but I am finding it is helping me with my sugar cravings a lot! I am hoping after this first week I will have broken that sugar addiction and not rely on it as much.

I did make some white sun tea and added some spenda to it and I squeezed one lemon in the whole thing, about 88 oz. It was refreshing and tasty as well.

I am sure we have all had those days! I can remember when I would be totally stressed out and maybe not eat much all day because of working and stop by the store and get graham crackers and a can of frosting....
YIKES!!!

Still in deep ketosis after last nights trouble but my scale has not moved in a week.

I am officially stalled and it can only be the artificial sweetener in the CL . I have about 2 bottles a day along with my other water.

I am very disappointed.

ETA: Oh no it's not!! I conveniently forgot that last Monday night we went to a friends and she made me what was supposed to be a low cal, low carb drink. It was pretty good so I kept drinking it. I am remembering now that alcohol stalls me immediately and for at least a week. OMG!! Alcohol is not my friend and not worth wasting the time and the money .

Have you been journaling everything that goes in your mouth, liquid and solid? It is always helpful to look back and see what you have consumed and see where the problem comes from. Did the alcoholic drinks get into your journal? The total calories and carbs from them? A friend helped you sabotage your program, that is not a good thing. You are still new to the program, and it is now that the habits you form will see you through, good habits, that is. And believe it or not, your journal is your friend, if you are true to it.

Sounds like me 2009!!

Thanx Jo, No I did not put that drink into my journal. I was trying to deceive myself and thought that just the 1 being that it was supposedly lo carb, lo cal would not hurt me, but it did. I lost out on a weeks worth of losses.

I am ususally good at recording everything from the moment I get up, every pill, water everything.

I have stuck strictly to plan other than that and I'm bummed now but I'm not going off plan.

dee- I have been close to that point several times too and it's always been when I'm very hungry, thirsty, or tired. Sounds like you're handling it well for now.. hang in there! I highly doubt CL is sabotaging you.. most of us on here drink it regularly. It's more likely that the "almost no carb" things you have eaten added up over time. Stick with it.. you can do this!

Jo- I have one more w/i on Thursday and then I'll PM ya.

Grace- Thanks for asking! It was lovely. We went to see My Sister's Keeper and I made orlando's Medi Gummies (YUM) to take to the movies. We did go to PF Chang's because I had a coupon for free lettuce wraps, which was what I was going to get anyway. I had a couple of spoonfuls of DH's Egg Drop soup (just OK.. not great) and about 1/4 of the lettuce wraps and that was plenty. I haven't been there in a while and the food was just OK, not great at all. Not tempted to overdo it in the least. I ate very lightly during the earlier part of the day and felt OK going to D'Lites and getting some low carb ice cream. It was soooo great. Love that place! It was a very nice evening.

We had an hour to kill between the movie and dinner so I tried on clothes at Old Navy. I was SHOCKED to find that I am not the biggest size in the REGULAR section any more!!! When I started Medi I was squeezing into 24W's and last night I slipped easily into 18 regulars. Tops were fitting me in L or XL and XXL's were bagging off me. It was so great. I didn't buy anything but it was fun to see how "far" I've come!! That definitely added extra motivation to stick with the plan at dinner.

Thanks, everyone, for the input! It made my evening much easier because food wasn't a big deal to figure out.

Aren't the CL packets 10 calories per packet or 32 oz drink? If you drink 2 packets a day, that's 20 calories. My coffee creamer is the 20 drink calories a day that I will not give up! The CL may be yours just count them.

As for alcohol....I haven't had a drink in five weeks...and nobody can believe it as I LOVE wine and dirty martinis---yeah no salt in those LOL. Someone once told me that for every night of drinking, it takes your body 3 days to get your metabolism back to normal..or using calories correctly. Not sure how true that is but until I just said no to any type of drink, I would lose during the weekend and then regain everything over a few drinks on the weekend...on and on. Like the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results!

So, my point, for some people, me included, alcohol completely stops weightloss. Now you know how it effects you too. You'll be back on track with a loss next week! El

PS-Sometimes when I know I'm going to be among alcohol pushing friends, I fill a pitcher with Crystal Light and bring it along. I just tell them it's CL and Vodka and they leave me alone!

Oh, I forgot. I buy the Target brand CL (in tubes, not individual serving packets) and the one I drink the most is Peach Tea, which has ZERO calories. I say "Crystal Lite" but I actually mean the Target brand of it. I prefer the taste and with 0 calories, it's great!

Thanks! Good tip on the no calorie Target version of CL. I've been drinking the Powerade Zero but it's tough when I have to travel for work...no drinks through airport security.

Hi 2009 - I know this is easy to say but let it go - just keep working the program. I am scale motivated so I weigh myself everyday. Sometimes it doesn't move for awhile but then it will go a few pounds. No rhyme or reason to it often... I definitely do not let myself be emotional about it - because that would just take me to 'the whole day is ruined' mentality that I USED to have. Yah - that mentality is what got me fat. Now I look at the scale not moving as motivation to switch things up a little - closer look at what I have been eating - a little more exercise... because that is the mentality that is going to keep me healthy. Good luck - let us know how your day goes...

WEll I am down 20 punds, and 15 punds to my goal. This weekend was tough, not for any other reason but I was on the go and busy all weekend. I think this wont be a stellar weight in but what can you do. 2 lbs better than none.

I missed my weigh in this week. I took my Dad to the ER on Thursday, he gave me a scare. Dizzy and weak, thought it was his heart, but it was a new med his urologist gave him, dropped blood pressure dangerously low! He was admitted ,so I spent two days watching over him. He is doing well now, thank God. I am going away for the week so I will miss another way in ! I also peeked at my weight, still the sameI definately have not been drinking enough water, but I NEVER go off plan! I see others here are struggling with the scale too, so I will have to wait and see what next week brings.Good luck this week on your weigh ins! I will miss reading the posts this week

Good luck - let us know how your day goes...
thanks for the kind words.. In the past, i would of let it ruin my day and i would of ate everything today and just say 'forget this diet".. But i didn't, i went shopping adn bought some new shorts and I got into a 12, so i was happy. I have to look at the big picture that i already lost 40 adn these last 15 are going to come off slower.. I did have my husband HIDE the scale from me.. I will just weight in weekly.. thanks again..

Day 4 satrting.....

I checked my "ketosis" level and it was right on! Hubby is weighing every day and says he sees that he has lost 4 lbs since thurday, of course he is following more of the week 2 plan forward and I am still in week one. I am staying away fromt he scale until my weigh in, I am just too afraid that if I didn't see the same drop he is it would be defeating for me.
Feelling pretty good today, better than yesterday as I was tired and feeling a little hungry.
I did walk 1/2 hour yesterday morning, though! I go in tomorrow for a "check" and shots, then Friday I would assume they would weigh me as that is my first full week, but you know what, I feel "lighter" already, it must be having all that mac and cheese out of my system!!

back from vacation and I weigh in tomorrow. I didn't even try to diet, which is terrible. I probably gained about 6lbs of water...

back in the groove today though, and back to exercising tonight. I will face the music tomorrow at my weigh in and will shed the new weight in no time

Sue,

Don't expect to have the same amount of loss as your husband. You are setting yourself up for failure if you try to keep up with him. Men just lose weight faster than women.

When I was dating my now-husband, he had dropped some weight and I asked him how. He told me he was eating only one poptart instead of 2 for breakfast and he was eating pasta every night. I almost fell over backwards when he said it was fetticine alfredo!! MEN!!!

Support your husband but celebrate your own journey because it will be successful... but very different than his.
