Mission Carb Balance Toritllas

Has anyone tried these? I saw them at Target today and was wondering about them. The 6-inch ones have 80 cals, 12g of carbs, 8g fiber. I feel like the calories and carbs are a little higher than I would like but I'm wondering if it would be worth putting a package in the freezer as a "once in a while" thing, like on family taco night or something?

Any positive/negative comments?

They are AWESOME!! They taste just like regular. I love to slice them up like chips and fry in oil add salt and maybe some chilli powder........

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing! That sounds good

I'm wondering if anyone on Medi Weight Loss specifically has used them?

Hi Jessica,

I asked my clinic about them and they suggested that I stay away from them until I reach maintainence. You might want to ask at your clinic.

You already know what I am going to say on this one, Jessica. NO!!!
Take a peek at this information on the product:

Calories in Mission Foods - Carb Balance Tortillas

Here is Mission's website info:
MissionMenus.com :: Mission Pantry

Look at where you want to go, and then tell me honestly if you want to derail yourself with a "once in a while". Good grief, I live in Arizona where Mexican products are everywhere. And I have yet to see anything I will be choosing for the forseeable future. Again, it is YOUR choice, YOUR program, YOUR weight loss. And you know me well enough by now to know that I work the program very strictly. If it is not allowed, it is not in my house.

This is only my opinion, take it for what you think it is worth, and decide what is best for YOU. You have agonized over decisions when eating out, why make the decisions at home hard for yourself.

Others may see it differently, but this is just MY thought on the subject.

Susie- That's an excellent idea. Sometimes I forget about asking the clinic! LOL.. I am usually running in for my appts because I wait for my sitter to get here to watch my kids, so I need to start taking a list with me to make sure everything is addressed! Good to know that your clinic says no!

Jo, The calories you posted were for the large tortillas. The small 6-in ones have a lot fewer calories and carbs I could still not see eating more than one, but that's why I'm asking if anyone on Medi has actually used them. I didn't buy them but I was intrigued to see a "low carb tortilla" at all. Tortillas are not a huge temptation for me but I always like hearing feedback on products from people who have been at this a lot longer than me.

Maintaince Only.

You need to see how your body reacts to them once you reach your goal.

Amber-Nikki,

My friend from the Playground and fellow ATWT and GL fan who looks just like the fabulous actress Julie Pinson from ATWT. These will only work on maintainance on The medi-weightloss clinics plan.

I am on maintainance so I agree they are delicious once in a while.

6", 8" regardless of size, the item would still be a no in my personal book. The Mission site has all of the products on it, you just have to scroll around to find them all.

It is still a no from me. Maintenance is a whole different ball game. And many of us all have to get there with various pounds to go.

Before I started the program I tried them and I thought the taste was terrible - certainly not worth it for me!

At my clinic, they showed me a tortilla they said I could have. It is called 3 Net Impact Carbs by Mama Lupes. It has 7 carbs but 4 of them are fiber, so it is only 3 carbs and has 5 protein. They are made with a low carb flour and a whole wheat flour. I do not know if they is a national brand or not, but I tried one yesterday like a fajita with beef strips, onions and mushrooms and I loved it! It did not affect my ketone level at all today! It is certainly not an everyday thing, but a couple times a week sounds good!

I am sure different clinics vary, but since it was their recommendation, I felt safe in my personal program.

OOOH, that does make it cool!! I saw Moundridge on the package, but had no idea it was a Medi client!! Wow! Are these available everywhere? (I, of course, found mine at Andover Dillons)

This is an old thread but I thought some of the newer folks might find it interesting. I just today got around to trying one of the MamaLupe's tortillas (purchased via netrition) and it was GOOD! Definitely has a whole-wheaty taste but it was yummy.

Anyhoo, read the above comments and decide according to the advice from your clinic. For me, TOM is coming and I am craving carby stuff. Made myself one of these, folded over, with low fat cheese and a bit of salsa and that hit the spot. I am doing yoga tonight so I know I have extra calories to replace today.

Everyone is different. As you can see, Jerry has used these with success. I'll post if I have any impact tomorrow. But they were darn good and 1 was quite satisfying

Now that I am on Maintenance, Jessica, I DID buy the small fajita size whole wheat at 80 cal/and the net carbs are doable. I use one as a wrap for my turkey at lunch time.

Jo- Did you buy the carb balance or the Mama Lupe's ones? I was too concerned about the carbs in the Mission Carb Balance ones, so I bought Mama Lupes.

How did you like them?

I bought the Mission one as I could not find the MamaLupe ones here in AZ...odd that they are not here...at least not at Fry's, Trader Joe's or Safeway. Do not have an Albertsons nearby at all.

I will go check the info for you tomorrow on the actual net carbs. I do know my clinic said okay. Fajita size is 80 calories. I will post the data tomorrow for you okay?

I am not much of an afficionado of bread products since I really do not and did not eat much..so the whole wheat ones seem fine to me.

My ketosis was not impacted today at all by eating the Mama Lupe's one yesterday, so that's good. Didn't hurt that I had a pretty intense yoga class last night.

I'll keep a pack in my freezer for an occasional use. I think these would also be good if you have a stomach bug or something with nausea.. better than crackers, bread, etc, in terms of maintaining the program. Sometimes when I'm sick I cannot keep much down but I think these would fit the bill.
