Thanks McBoo! Here's to a skinnier June for all of us

BTW, I survived my cravings last night and did an hour of Wii Fit! This is a very very stressful week for me work-wise, and TOM is coming. I'm still hopeful that I will have a good weigh-in on Thursday as I have been sticking to the program

Have a good week everyone!

Hi all,

I just got back from the clinic and lost 2.2 lbs. Not bad for 10 days of vacation and re-entry (I'm still doing laundry ). I have 5.6 lbs to go to get to goal. My total loss to date is 57.4 lbs.

BTW - I am calling my doctor today regarding my Friday night episode, but feeling great. Thanks for all concern.

Hello Friends,

Well, We're back from the El Paso/New Mexico trip. It was long and hot and very tiring. My attempt to maintain the WOE during the trip was largely successful, but not easy. Ate mostly beef jerky (homemeade) throughout with several Forays into navigating the dangers of restaurants. Twice on the trip I know that I far exceeded my 900 protein calories per day. I dont believe it hurt me though, as we were caving and desert walking quite a bit on those days (Walked nearly 5 miles in two days. FOr me, that alone is a huge accomplishment.)

I learned some things about restaurant menu modification. Those eateries that are not chain types, and who consider themselves up-scale establishments, do not like menu-modification requests. So , I came up with work-arounds that I hope were wise and program compliant. One example was at La Posta in Las Cruces. Very very old establishment with a fine Mexican menu. Literally nothing on the menu I could eat un-modified. I ordered the Shredded Beef Chimichanga, with Green Salad Garnish. When th emeal arrived, I simply broke the Chimi open and eptied it of the beef and discarded the fried flour tortilla shell. Ended up with about 3 ounces of shredded beef brisket and a little lettuce. Anyway, thats pretty much how the dining went on this trip....

Weigh-in tomorrow at 7:00 am. We'll see then how the trip REALLY went.

Troy

Good News Susie! I am so glad you are feeling better. Not bad on the weight loss either considering everything that has happened to you in the last 2 weeks, you are doing so great. I have my fingers crossed you can just melt away that last 5 pounds this week, wouldn't that be awesome!

BTW, our graduation dinner went great! The califlower potato salad was a big hit, I changed it up a bit by adding fresh dill and parsley. Also the pumpkin pie was awesome! I would use that for a goto when entertaining, everyone thought it was great and loved the lower calorie and carbs on it! PS Susie, you are my inspiration to share the diet with others because you have done it in the past.

Also, I am waiting on my daugther to post pictures from graduation and I have to admit I didn't really mind getting my picture taken. I am still big but I don't look at the picture of myself and think OMG I AM HUGE! So I am making progress and I have gone from womens 28 to 22. I can't wait for regular size clothing - soon very soon!

Jo, your climb looked awesome! I went to the website you posted! You are amazing, myself I like spearfishing and can't wait to do some in the next couple of weeks, I don't think my butt will be so bouyant!

Jess, Good luck with VS. What a great asset that has been to my family. My son used it his senior year for PE because even though he played Varsity Football and Wrestled all four years his counselor did not turn in the correct paperwork for graduation! My daughter to Spanish so that she could do cosmetology classes and AP classes her last 2 years. Good luck as the school closes for you and I hope your little one is feeling better!

To everyone else have an awesome week! Good luck with your weigh ins!

Glad you are back Troy and it sounds like what you did with the Chimi was excellent! Mexican food is quite a challenge! Good luck with your weigh in and I bet it will be awesome!

Thanks. McBoo for posting the June thread! Here's to a great month for all of us!

~Jessica~Woohoo! You go girl! I am so impressed with your focus! You will make it through this stressful time with flying colors!

~Susie~ WOW!!! You are sooooo close. I just know you will be there in no time flat!

~Troy~Nice to have you back! Sounds like you did very well on your trip. Do you by any chance remember Jack Nicholson's movie, I think it was Five Easy Pieces...not sure...where he tried to get the waitress to "customize" his order? I am sure you will do well on your weigh in!

~Robyn~Ah my girl! You are so cool! I look forward to your posts every day! I have never gone spear fishing and am not sure how well I would do either...so you come to AZ and we will go hiking instead, okay? Congrats on your successful dinner.

~Justin~Got your numbers from the May thread. I believe you have to have a certain number of posts in order to send a PM...just not sure what that number is. Congrats on the loss. 18 pounds is great!

Off to walk...just walk....before it gets too hot....ran around finishing up cleaning off the patio, yet again...those palo verde and mesquite trees are soooo messy!

Here's to a wonderful week for everyone!

Congrats Susie!!!

You be a great maintenance guru with McBoo!!!

I have decided the the vit b shot is GREAT! I went without it for a couple of weeks and boy did the carb cravings come back full tilt I took it at last weigh-in and I can handle those little niggles much better.

I'm sure to hit the 50lb mark this week and I'm really excited!!
That'll leave me less than 50lbs to go

I find myself liking the already-new me and so does my hubby
He's finding it easier to go to the gym and eat better because of my success!
His blood sugars are evening out and he's feeling much better about himself!
I think he's hot no matter what

Keep on losing all!!!

Awesome robyn!!!

A little TMI here but I had to get new bras because the others were just not working. So I decided to get fitted (for the first time in my life ). I almost said a big "woooohoooo" when the sales assistant said,"Wow tiny." Referring to my around the ribcage measurement (not the cup size though )!
I'm to the point where I'm going to have to give up Lane Bryant. I do love their styles though

Your advice is very encouraging and knowledgeable too-you'll be a great maintenance guru too!

Too funny Cindy! I went through the size change in undies not too long ago as well. Kind of fun though, to see what different things I can find in the new sizes!

Yikes...I am out of here for my walk....just gotta get away from this computer and WALK!!!!!

I WILL stick to the plan!!

Angel - where in Florida are you? I hit my high 2ish years ago at 199 and did jenny craig for awhile and hit my 176. I am following medi now and am at 162. My goal is 145 as well and I am also 5'6, seems we are making the same journet to 145 Keep up the good work!

I'm from MD too! What part? I'm from a town called Sparks in northern Baltimore, just north of Hunt Valley, if you know where that is. I graduated high school from Hereford way back in 1977. It is so funny what a small world it is.

I live in Orlando now. There are lots of good choices in restaurants near the convention center and they will cater to special orders. I am assuming the beauty show is at the convention center. Let me know if you would like some recommendations. I know you will do great.

Thanks Jo! Your success is inspiring!

Madeia-I live in the Tampa area. My highest was 250. I lost some on WW and then could not get the scale to move. I wish I would have known about this plan earlier. It is working very well especially since my husband already follows a lower carb diet (he is a personal trainer and bodybuilding competitor) and he has never had a weight issue. Now, we are eating the same foods and it makes my life a lot easier! You are only 17 pounds away from 145. Great job!

~Susan~
I called my clinic for the correct information to give you about this. Of course, Scottsdale AZ has no idea what is happening in RI, however, the director of my clinic has had a similar situation when a clinic in AZ closed. My clinic took over all the records, all the files were online, and the transition was very smooth and the patients were happy. There would be no additional charges, since the transfer to a different clinic is due to a closure. There are two other clinics in RI, one in Cranston and one in Johnston. To be truthful, I am not certain how far either one is to where you are, but here are their numbers:

Cranston 401-944-5422
Johnston 401-228-6844

My clinic director also said that when a clinic closes, a letter is USUALLY sent to the patients so that they know what is happening.

If it were me, I would call the other two clinics, figure out which is closest and go there. The program will work for you regardless of which clinic you go to. And that is because you are the most important element in the program!
Let us know what you find out and how you are doing!

Just back from my weigh in... lost 3.8 pounds for a 12 week total of 51.8. I am hoping for a really good week so that I can say goodbye to the 280's! Have a good week to all.

Susan,
I would call another Medi and explain what happened, I am sure they know about the closing of your clinic. You could also call the corporate office. The numbers are on the Medi website. Good luck.

OK all you Marylanders. My Partner and I are headed to Annapolis on Thursday for his Grandaughters graduation. It will be a good time since her parents were just here to visit last month and know how we eat so I am not worrying about the party. Looking forward to the crab.

Well I lived all around 695 - the city, ellicott city, white marsh, timonium, abingdon, rosedale, dundalk, arbutus.........
Lived in baltimore area for 26 years.... kind of nice place I guess. I miss the crabs, but I will be eating some good steamed crabs in a few weeks. We have a place called pinchers in ft myers that does maryland style blue crab, they are ok but $6 a piece.....

I am going to take my eas shakes, no fridge in the hotel room.... i know sat night we are going to citywalk, couple of choices there and formerly pleasure island sunday night..... i always find something I can do on restaurant menus... just need to resist the alcohol but i am driving so should be fine.

I have heard, not experienced however, that the crab in Maryland is superb! You are lucky, McBoo!

Susan,
I would call another Medi and explain what happened, I am sure they know about the closing of your clinic. You could also call the corporate office. The numbers are on the Medi website. Good luck.
Go Robyn!

I am so excited for you. You will be in the 270's in a blink of an eye. Look how quick Jo has lost. You are keeping pace. Yeah!

McBoo
I love Maryland crabs... and they are low in carbs. Enjoy and eat 1 (or maybe 2) for me.

Oh, and congratulations on the graduation too! Annapolis is a beautiful city.

Adjusting to New Image

I had originally posted this entry to a previous thread about the Tanita scale. I was asked to post this on our June thread in case it might help someone. I know some people get a little confused with all the numbers and percentages on the scales used by Medi.

These were my thoughts:

I don't look at BMI either and I know I'm probably crazy, but the weight loss is no longer a big deal (never thought I would hear myself say that!). I actually focus on my measurements and how my clothes fit. I have worked out with weights for a couple of years. However, once I started Medi, I forced myself to really focus and do intense 30 min weight training at least 4-5 days per week - upper one day, lower next. My muscle tone right now is unbelievable. When I move my arms, you can actually SEE my biceps. My thighs look like they did when I used to play soccer.

As a 50 year old female, 5' 6.5" -- I weighed in at 150 Saturday -- but I wear a size 8. Before I got pregnant with my son over 13 years ago at age 37, I weighed 150 but wore a size 12.

The combination of weight training, 45 minute elliptical and 30-45 minute walks + Medi is literally melting FAT away.

My weight goal at the beginning of Medi had been 140 -- however, my husband says I look so good right now, he's not sure I should lose anymore. Trust me -- that's a HUGE compliment coming from him.

I'm still going to aim for 140 -- I just can't image getting any smaller than I am right now though. I've always considered myself a "big-boned" female with a big rear-end! I'm sometimes surprised when I see myself in the mirror - I have literally done a doubletake a few times -- "that slim woman is me?! How can that be?!!" (Seriously, isn't AWESOME to have found a program that REALLY, REALLY WORKS?!)
