For me the best thing to do was to take a walk - it seemed to help me not feel so tired. I still do feel tired sometimes but that is usually when I don't get some exercise in that day... other posts have suggested making sure you are getting you electrolite (sp?) in. If you use the 'search this thread' option you may be able to find some more info...

Take heart - it will pass.
Thanks 4Fun,
I managed to get myself moving and into the shower...ran to Target (for cute workout clothes, cause we always have to look cute, right ladies?? ) Anyways, I feeling pretty good. I assumed that it was my body adjusting. It's strange because my stomach is very vocal about this change in diet but my brain seems to be just fine....I have no cravings but my tummy is sure talkative! Hopefully this will pass...

I grabbed some Crystal Light w Electrolytes...hopefully that will replenish what's missing.

I also want to say to everyone that your sucess is a great inspiration!

StPeteChick & brishe,

Weakness is very common in week 1, in fact most clinics discourage exercise the first week because of it. Hang in there, it will get better. Your body is withdrawing and adjusting. Things that help with the weakness are the EAS shakes and low sodium chicken broth. Be sure to check out the Newbie thread at Welcome Newbies! Helpful info for week 1. for more week 1 tips. Good luck and keep posting any questions, comments or results.

WTG Jo!

I DID IT! Had a blast walking with some co-workers at the Heart Walk on the Wichita State University campus. It took 63 minutes to walk 3.2 miles. I tell you what....there aren't any hills in my neighborhood to speak of but there are some good ones on this campus! But it was still good times and it was a very good cause to support too! Looking forward to Tuesdays weigh-in. IF I lose again ; ) it will mark 23 straight loses. I'm going for 52! Just got my 30 minutes cycling and 30 minutes weight lifting in so I'm REALLY pumped! I think I will get together the WalMart list and do some more walking! I'll slow down tomorrow when I go get my 30 minutes cycling in then spend the rest of the day visiting my grandfather and going to see the play "The Producer's". Man, I wish I could bottle this natural high feeling and sell it!

BTW Jo, that pie sounds yummy!

I have found some Nature Kist Jalapeno flavored pistachios that are really good. I divide the bag up into 4 and have a half serving per day. Ya'll see anything wrong with this snack besides the fat content? I usually have them in the am so I can burn em off during the day. Half a serving has 95 calories, 7.5g fat, 3 tot carbs (1 fiber), 3.5g protein, 125 sodium.

Jerry- That is so awesome!!! I've been thinking about trying to make running a 5k one of my goals for fitness. I enjoy jogging on my Wii Fit and I think a walk or run event would be really neat to work towards!

I'd also love the french silk pie recipe!! That is one of my husband's #1 favorite desserts, so it would be neat to have a version that I could enjoy too!

We hosted a party for my Dad's 60th birthday tonight at our house!! Several of the guests came up and told me how great I am looking, how much have I lost, blah blah blah. It felt really good. A friends of my parents who has known me since birth did a similar diet and she was so encouraging. She told me how empowering it was when she got rid of all her "fat" clothes for good and how great she felt going shopping for new, cute stuff. It was really nice to have everyone be so positive. I didn't mention the diet until people came up and were asking if I had lost weight! Woohoo!

ALMOST AT MAINTENANCE

This morning was a MONUMENTAL weigh-in for me.

I am officially in the 140's!!! I weigh 146 pounds - only SIX POUNDS from goal!!

The doctor recommends that I stay in Acute Phase this week and then I will start the transition next week. I will start taking the Stay Slim product instead of the prescription appetite suppressant.

Since March 12, 2009, I have lost 35.8 pounds -- 28.5 of PURE FAT!!

What has shocked me are my measurements. I have lost SIX inches off my hips; 5 inches off my waist; and only 2 inches from my bustline.

A couple of months ago, I could not get my wedding ring off. Now it slides around on my finger. I'm afraid I may have to have it re-sized.

My doctor showed me by "Before" photos this morning and it was hard for me to believe.

My youngest son had his 13th birthday this week. I have all the energy I need now to keep up with him. I went tubing down the Little River in the Smoky Mountains last weekend and had a BLAST -- even though I was a rock magnent OUCH. When I was heavier, I would have been too embarrassed to have done something like that.

I can hardly wait to see my 3 year old grandson in a few months so I can chase him around the pool and build sand castles in the sand. I won't be worried about the excess fat hanging around my tummy or be too exhausted to have a good time!

I am so thankful I was introduced to Medi. This program has truly changed my life.

To all who are interested in the French Silk Pie recipe. I am emailing Susie as she is so much better than I at doing the nutritional data stuff...and this only has the carb count and I think we need the calorie count as well. I promise, with Susie's help we will get this one up there. There is also one for Frozen Lemon Yogurt!

Hugs to all!

Today i took my grls to the park, and i could not belive that, when i went down the slide my hips didnt even touch the sides. I cant tell you what a great feeling that was. Before i started medi i had to squeeze down the slide instead of sliding down. I just wanted to share that with all of you. I told my sister and she looked at me like i was nuts. She has always been thin and cant appreciate it.

Susie& jo, or anybody, cant wait to try the french silk pie!! I have a question, I was in ketosis, but i went out to eat and had a 6oz chikhen breast and a maybe a little more then a half cup of broccoli, and now im out! What am i donig wrong? All i drink is water all day too. with lemon, can it be the lemon? Please help!!!

Susan, I sent the recipe to Susie for "tweaking" and I just realized the recipe had no crust...so I think the Fiber 1 crust recipe we have would probably work.

Vegetables/fruits can and sometimes do throw us out of ketosis. Depends on the person. For me, it is raspberries, or sometimes blackberries. For a vegie, for me it is water chestnuts. So it can vary by person. I usually go right back into ketosis within an 8-12 hour period. I use lemon juice too and have never had an issue with it. How was the broccoli prepared? Perhaps that is the issue?

Cool about the slide!

I am on day 5 and like StPeteChick have felt absolutely awful since day 3!!! I am questioning whether I can actually make this journey. I done exactly what I am supposed to thus far, but each day is getting harder! I have been extremely weak, shaky, lightheaded, and dizzy to the point I thought I would pass out. I have been drinking electrolytes and it helps briefly. I also got another MIC shot yesterday and have felt some better today- just brief periods of wooziness. My stomach is also very vocal- even though I don't actually want to eat. Please tell me next week will be tons better!

How old are your sticks? I have found several places that state that once opened, put the date on the bottle and discard 30 days later no matter what the exp date is on it.

Wow, great job! I'm just amazed at how this program works and how committed so many of you are. Plus an inspiration to so many. Keep up the good work and 2.1 lbs a week is just awesome.

I love the cocoa almonds- I have them everyday for my mid-day snack. They really help to fill me up, but I also have to prepackage them because it is easy to eat too many!

Vita Super, is there something comparable over the counter? I can't read the ingredients on the bottle, way to small for my poor eye sight.

The Vita Super ingredients are as follows:

Vitamins A,C,D3,E,B1,B2,B3,B6,B12
Folate
Biotin
Pantothenic Acid
Calcium
Phosphorus
Iron
Iodine
Magnesium
Zinc
Selenium
Copper
Manganese
Chromium
Potassium
Dessicated Liver
Betaine
Choline
Citrus Bioflavenoids
Glutamic Acid
Inositol
PABA
Rutin
L-Lysine
Hesperidin Complex

I have my own vitamins that I take and my clinic approved them. I have not found a vitamin combo that contains ALL of the above ingredients. It is, after all, a proprietary blend made for MWL specifically.

Kellybell, you have to stick it out if you want to be successful! It does get better after the first week! Once you WI, that will motivate you I promise!

Today is the first time since I have started that I really want something I can't have. Its a really rainy day here adn I would kill for a bowl of cream of wheat. I am just not at all interested in eggs, eggwhites, turkey sausauge or any of my regular breakfast foods. I am going to go peruse the breakfast recipe to see if there is anything I can have. Not having a good day today.

~Mimi~ There are always going to be foods that you "cannot have". However, that is a negative thought, or way of thinking. A positive thought is this: there are always going to be foods out there that I will choose to bypass for my health right now. It is always a choice.

You are just getting started on this new lifestyle change, and it is not always easy. The better the choices are that you make for yourself now, at the beginning, the easier the way ahead will be for you. Hang in there, you can do this.

And look at what you wrote to Kellibell....you have to stick it out to be successful!

I am really surprised that in just 3 weeks on the plan, I have not hit any major cravings!... (knock on wood) I have not looked at someone elses food and wished, I can even go in all the aisles of the grocery store. I have always liked meat, though, so that helps! Also remembering I have already lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks helps me love that meat even more! I think one of my sucesses is that I am buying myself quality meat. I am not hestitating on buying the strip steak or sirloin because when I only eat 3 ounces at a time, it lasts sooo much longer, so it is not near as expensive as when I could eat a huge steak in one serving!! The "real" meat seems to serve me better than the processed stuff right now.

As far as cheese, I am limiting myself to one a day, if that. Usually that is in the form of the Sargento Light string cheese stick or a Laughing Cow wedge. I even made my "fajita" yesterday w/o cheese and it was still great!

I have only had nuts twice and I had 1 ounce of sunflower seeds in the shell. I only had those when I needed more water, cuz it makes me thirsty! BUT the days I had those, I knocked sodium out for the rest of the day! I sure don't want to retain all this water I am drinking!

So far, so good for me... I am keeping my eye on the goal, but still am not feeling deprived! Lovin' it!

OMG! I am sitting in my living room on the laptop, listening to my 2 children in the kitchen (ages 11 and 15). My son (oldest) is reading food labels to my daughter and explaining them. He is emphasizing how many carbs are in Cheez-its at the moment!! He is talking about different ingredients and percentages and why certain things are good and bad! Holy cow! They are learning without me even teaching! This is AWESOME!!

Good job Jbiggars! Way to go! Sounds like it was enjoyable and foor a good cause!

Mommyof2girls- if you google "couch to 5K" you can find a lot of programs, I used one a few years ago and it was great! Wish I stuck with it! The hardest part was not doing more then they say, after the first few weeks I felt like I could do more then they suggested, but they say you will get hurt if you do. i followed it to the letter and did workm my way up to 5k. it took 2 months I think. In the beggining I could not have run a half of a block.

fabulous at 50- Good for you!!!!

Susan- That is awesome! I think you should visit the slide and go down it anytime you think you may be tempted. Slide the slide bfore weddings and holiday parties. lol. Your own personal motivator! Its awesome!!!

Amy- its great for them to learn young! Then they can avoid all the weight struggles!

Coffee drinkers- I have some fat free half and half, but I was wondering if you ever order your coffee out, what do you have them put in it? Is there anything at Starbucks that you drink while on Medi? Me and my sister in law have little outings where we go to Starbucks to catch up, and I would feel weird bringing my own creamer. When I look at their nutrition info, they make a Cafe au lait that is 12 oz, it has 8 carbs, so I think I might try to do that with a sugar free flavor. I just have to watch them make it so they don't use the wrong syrup. I think their regular coffee is too strong, I always end up using a ton of milk so I def can't do that. I really DO NOT want to change our location because she always raves about how she waits all week for her Starbucks drink. I have not told her about my diet yet, I do not feel comfortable with telling her just yet, probably after I am showing some success.

How many carbs are in the fat-free half and half and what brand is it?
All the fat-free ones I see have too many carbs in them.

~Mimi~ I love Starbuck's however have not gone there since December 19th. And there is one just across the street, as well as about a mile away.

Try this:
Coffee of the Week | Starbucks Coffee Company

Flavored Sugar-Free Syrup | Starbucks Coffee Company

Caff Misto/Caf Au Lait | Starbucks Coffee Company

I would just take the creamer with me. So much easier. You know it is medi-compliant.

Jerry, Jessica, Kathy, Susan and Amy,

Congrats on all your accomplishments! I love that it is not just about the scale, but achievments like meeting physical challenges, handling a difficult situation, fitting on a slide, and not having cravings. Sometimes we have to look beyond the scale to find encouragement. You guys are testiments to how you are making this a lifestyle change and because of that you will succeed.

Hey guys!

Well, the family is gone as of noontime yesterday...and somehow the silence here is unbearable! I work from home, I'm a textile artist, and the quiet has been making me crazy! It was good to see them, but I'm rather glad I won't have to deal with it again until Christmas. The temptations you all helped me avoid this week...well, I can't thank you enough for being so supportive and here for me!

I go in on Wednesday for my weigh-in, it'll have been 2 weeks since I went. I don't like to wait that long, but I wanted to spend every second I could with my precious sister Ellie, who is nine, and convinced that I am the best thing ever. Whenever I got discouraged this week, I thought about how badly I want my own child, about how much I want to be able to run again and play like I always did with Ellie. I was probably about 200-250 lbs in high school, but I was pretty active. (You have to be when you're chasing toddlers!)

Yesterday I saw the endocrinologist who literally saved my life. He says that my labs came back with so much improvement, and my blood pressure is normal and stable! I had Cushing's Syndrome due to a massive tumor in my right adrenal gland. It was removed last month, and I honestly have not felt this good since I was about 14. Apparently, the massive weight gain that I could not seem to stop was due to that and hypothyroidism. Since those have been corrected and I started Medi, I'm beginning to feel like I've gotten my life back. I'm not exhausted all the time, I'm not gaining weight while on a strict diet (this has happened to me twice! Gained 4lbs on Weight Watchers, and 10 on Jenny Craig!) I've lost the weight I gained over the past 2 years, PLUS.

For the first time in my life, I feel like I can do things. I no longer feel prisoner to a body that doesn't match who I am and what I want out of life. I am so much more than a number on a scale.

~Anda

PS. Despite a rather disheartening family visit and some rather weird moments there...I didn't fall out of ketosis or go above 650 calories per day the entire time. I did fail on my water drinking, though. Trying really hard to get lots of fluids this week!

The fat free half and half is a serving size of 2TBSP but I never use that much. I usually use 2 teaspoons. But for their regular 2TB srving size it is 15 calories o fat and 2carbs. It has less carbs then the sugar free fat free hazlenut coffeemate that medi suggested, and I ran this by my NP she said it was fine.

Thanks for the links Jo! I am going to peruse them now. I would hate to have to bring my own, but I may end up doing just that, I am just wondering if I can do that without my SIL seeing it. I do not want to have to explain, she is the kind of person that tells everyone everything and I don't feel ready to share with everyone yet. I wonder if I could sneak it in a little salad dressing sized tupperwear.

Way to go LadyPelinore!!! _-you can just drink a lot of water this week, but all of your medical news is promising! And now you can settle back into your own routine
