Carbquik is allowed?

I have a question... anyone knows if Carbquik is allowed during the Medi Acute phase?

I can ask my clinic on Friday, but I am wondering is someone already asked to their clinic.

Thanks

Thanks McBoo.

Sorry about my ignorance, but why do you think is not allowed? because of the fat content? the carbs?

The net carb is 2 gr.

I am confused!

You need to count actual carbs in the acute phase not net carbs. The fat and calorie content is also high for what you get on the acute phase. It is also very possible that it could trigger carb cravings. Check with your clinic and see what they say as every clinic is different and they know your situation.

I asked my clinic about that product early on, and the answer was no, it is definitely not allowed in the acute phase of the program. Actual carbohydrates are counted in this phase not net carbs.

And McBoo is correct. It can definitely trigger carb cravings.

The questions about carbquick now have me wondering...Can we use Soy Flour? I have looked through my Medi material and can't find anything on Soy Flour. I know there are LCers who swear by it and those who avoid it. In our recipe section we have recipes that use FiberOne cerial etc. Here is the Nutritional Breakdown:
Nutrition Facts
Serving Size: less than 1/4 cup (30g)
Amount per Serving
Calories 80 Calories from Fat 0
% Daily Value *
Total Fat 0g 0%
Saturated Fat 0g 0%
Cholesterol 0mg 0%
Sodium 10mg 0%
Total Carbohydrate 9g 3%
Dietary Fiber 6g 24%
Sugars 0g
Protein 15g 30%
Iron 20%
Est. Percent of Calories from:
Fat 0.0% Carbs 45.0%
Protein 75.0%

Carbs from a 1/4 cup is 9g but if you are using it to oven fry etc you would not be using more that probably a tablespoon. Almond flour which we are allowed to use is 6g carbs for a 1/4 cup.

What do you guys think?

Not sure about that one Robyn. I use a little of the Fiber One, or Almond flour if I use anything that requires flour. Personally not too wild about the taste of soy stuff,,,except edamames...which are off limits at the moment.

Yeah Jo, I don't know either. I have used Pecan flour, Almond flour and pork rind flour only. But would really like to have something that would stick better than the nut/pork rind flours do but low carb.

I ordered the noodles from Asian Food from Pocky to Miso | AsianFoodGrocer.com for only $1.38/bag. This is fed-ex by ground, so I hope they are fresh when I get them. Will let you know.
