Day 3 and sick, any help?
It is day three for me and Iam sick. I am not hungry, I am forcing myself to eat.....protein again. My 4 year old does not understand why mommy feels so bad. My husband is supportive but wonders if this is a safe diet since I have eaten very minimal and I am forcing myself to do that. I have a head cold and I think this is compounding my symptoms. Weakness, dizzy, inappetant, lethargy, sore throat, sinus pain and pressure, depression. I am already bored with the diet ( wk one is a killer ) but it is beyond that.... I AM NOT EVEN HUNGRY just feeling completely useless and drained. OH my ketones were in the very very high range and I know I am not dehydrated because I have been drinking 80 oz of H2O every day as well as one protein shake and one cup of coffee. I almost called the Medi clinic but it is Sunday and tomarrow is a holiday.
Any Advise... Help.... Encoragement...... |

I have been feel the same way. Very sick and worthless. This is my 6th day. I go on Wed to weigh in and start week 2. I keep hearing it will get better. Keep your head up. It has to get better! This has been the longest week of my life! Maybe you having a cold is making you feel worse. I keep hearing chicken broth is good. I haven't tried it yet, but got some today to try. Good luck my dear! Just know you are not alone....

Thanks
Rachel,
Thank you for the co-misery, I seem to only feel better right after I drink the electrolyte water, powerade zero. Thank you for the encoragement, I needed that. I pray it is the cold making me feel so miserable and not the diet. Good luck to you on Wednesday. |

The requirement really is closer to 128 ounces of fluid per day...the majority of that being water, especially in week one. The protein shake does not qualify as part of the fluid requirement. Barring all of that, I would believe that your health issues.. head cold/sinus pain/pressure and sore throat..have nothing to do with the program. I would suggest contacting your physician or heading to urgent care for help with those symptoms. And advising them as well of the program.
My personal physician recommended the program to me and is happy with how it is working. I am hoping you consulted a physician before beginning this program as well. There are no stats in your profile, so we have no way of knowing what your starting weight is, or what you need to lose. And also, depending on what your eating habits were previously, the effects of week one can be pretty hard to deal with as the "bad stuff" is getting out of your system. However, this is a program you really do have to commit to 100%. There is no half way here unfortunately. Week one is very difficult and can cause some weakness, headache-y symptoms..but not the rest of the symptoms you are experiencing. Sometimes there are mood swings, but not everyone experiences them. This program is a total 100% major lifestyle change and it all begins with week one. It is hard and I will not pretend that it is easy, but it does get easier. I would suggest taking a look at the thread about week one for some good tips and hints. Welcome Newbies! Helpful info for week 1. Please understand that I am not trying to be harsh, but the reality of this program is that week one is the most difficult to get through. And a major lifestyle change is a true requirement. Everyone here wants you to succeed. And it also has to be the right time in your life to proceed. If you are not well - with the cold et al..perhaps waiting a bit to begin would be wise. Only you can make that decision. I know that it was the right one for me. I have lost close to 70 pounds since I began and I work the program seriously and strictly. And it has not always been easy. Good luck and ![]() Jo |

Hang in there. I am in week 10 now and have never felt better in my life. Lost 30+ pounds and went from size 16 to size 8. Day 3 on the program was HORRIBLE for me. I literally had the shakes and headache. I felt like I was going to pass out. I immediately ate a hard-boiled egg and drank an entire can of chicken broth and added a small amount of Morton's Lite Salt. Within 20 minutes, I was okay and never had another episode like that. As someone said earlier, the first week of the program is very difficult. You really are flushing out the bad stuff and teaching your body to truly burn FAT. It's a BIG adjustment. My doctor has told me many times that my body obviously LOVES this program because of the amount of fat I am burning. I come from a family of females who have always had very large hips. I have lost more fat from my hips than anywhere else on my body. I honestly do NOT remember when my butt was this small. Make a commitment to stick with this no matter what. Do exactly as your clinic instructs you. Drink LOADS of water, Powerade Zero, Smart Water, etc. Take your supplements exactly as directed. If you have questions, there are LOTS of people in this program who are always sharing wonderful information - like McBoo, Jo, and Susan. Good Luck. Can't wait to hear from you in a couple of weeks to see how well you are doing. Fab@50 |

It truly DOES get better and easier... The cravings are the only thing that I battle now. I have been on the program twice... the first time I experienced horrific headaches the first week and this time I was just extremely lethargic--- almost flu-like... but after that first week, the energy started to come back, the clouds started to part and I now feel physically WAY better. The more I lose the more rejuvenated I feel. It is all a trade off... Be miserable for a week while your body adjusts and then battle your old nature for months while you change your lifestyle ----OR----- be miserable in your own skin, unhealthy and depressed about your circumstances for a lifetime. No question that I will take this short-term misery for long-term gain! Good Luck.... You WILL survive!

Absolutely right on, Susie! I just keep saying over and over and over to our new people:
"Do or do not - there is no try". (Good old Yoda). You can begin the program and "give it a shot" and not truly commit, OR, you can say that this is the first day of the rest of your life. This is a 100% total commitment, a 100% total lifestyle change. And you have to do this for YOU, not for anyone else, not for swimsuit season, not because all your friends are doing it. You truly must want to make a lifestyle change. The advantages are many, the disadvantages are few. A few days of being uncomfortable while the bad stuff is flushed from your body to earn a lifetime of health. Well worth it. Okay, off my soapbox now. Jo |

I have really learned ALOT about food and nutrition in the past 7 weeks. Just the journaling alone is something I will walk away with knowing how to do .
I mean it's not rocket science, but i feel more educated now about my health and how to make better choices. |

Tell me about it! The journaling is an eye-opener... I was on the program last year and then had to move with the hubby's job, but I kept journaling... Our own actions are the only ones we can control, but we have to acknowledge our actions first. Now, I have started back to a clinic-- albeit a 130 mile round trip once a week, but well worth it... Good Luck...

I am on day 3 as well. Day 1 was great! Day 2 I had boundless energy but my tummy felt "rumbly" all day & I kept running to the bathroom. Today I have no energy at all, and have been very lightheaded with the same ol' rumbly tummy. It has been hard for me to eat even my 500 calories of protein today- I am wanting to gag as I eat. (this is a first and in hindsight probably not a bad thing!! hehe) I do not drink caffeine so I am assuming my upset stomach is from all the pills I am taking. Has anyone else experienced this feeling on the first week?

Yes, Kellybel; I recommend only taking the pills AFTER you have eaten something. If you are having a hard time eating, you cn buy some of the EAS shakes, make sure you get the ones that are 110cals, 2 carbs, 3 grams of fat, and try to stick with no more than 1 shake per day. I found them in Target near the vitamins, also at the supermarket & CVS. They are cheapest at CVS, the Vanilla ones are my fav.
Those were a lifesaver for me the first week. I can't take the pills on an empty stomach and I cannot take teh Calcium pills they gave us at all, those made me very sick. Once I skipped the ca I was fine. |

Thanks for the response! I am taking the medication with food but I assumed it was probably the multi-vitamin working on my stomach, but it may well be the calcium as I have never taken calcium supplements before. If I am not feeling better tomorrow, I will definitely try the protein shake! I know getting those 500 calories is important.
