Congrats to you losers! You are doing amazingly, especially considering all of the holidays. If you didn't do so well, please don't beat yourself up, just go back to the plan and start over before the set back gets out of hand.

Today was my first week weigh-in and I lost 8.8 lbs.
I found it pretty easy to stick to the 500 calories of protein this past week. I am happy to ad in some veggies this week though. |

EricL! Your first week stats are great, congrats on your loss!! I notice you're from Mass. Doesn't seem like there are too many of us Mass natives on here. Medi is a great program. I am loving how I look, but more importantly, how I feel. I'm already down 25.8lbs Good luck to you! Keep checking in on this site, it's so wonderful. It has helped me make it through this first month, that's for sure. |

Congrats Eric L.
Congrats on week 1 weight loss!!!!
I'm on day 2! Not hungry, but so annoyed with only eating protein as I am feeding my children pizza...that's how i got this way in the first place. Please tell me it gets easier, b/c 5 more days of no veggies or fruit is just scary. Can we have protein shakes or anything?????? Jules |

I agree it's tough to feed the kids the things we have to avoid, but it IS all worth it!! Yes-we can have protein shakes. There are a chocolate and vanilla by Medi. Also, I have found EAS Carb Control shakes that I like even better. They come in flavors like Chocolate Fudge, Caramel Latte', French Vanilla and Strawberry Cream. They're all between roughly 110 cal and 2-4 carbs. It does get better. I started on Jan 2nd and have lost 31.2lbs!! Good luck |

Hii...
I've been on the program since January 15 and I'm so glad I stumbled upon these boards tonight! I'm SUPPOSED to be studying for exams that I have tomorrow but I'm taking a break right now. So far I've lost 11.5 pounds in 3 weeks. I thought I was doing well, but you guys are ALL putting me to shame! Looks like I'm not doing something as well as I should...haha. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and that I hope to make some new friends here if that's okay. Congratulations and good luck to you all.

Hi AmyNDPharmD2B....I too am in grad school and taking a break from studies right now. Don't be discouraged about how much you've lost compared to others. I'm glad you found this site, I know I certainly do better with this accountability. Just keep up on the program, drink lots of water, and check in here as much as you can! Good luck on your exams!

Hello All,
I'm a bit late in posting this. I had my first weigh-in on Thursday. I'm down 9.5 lbs! Six pounds of fat, 2.5 pounds of water, and 1 pound of (must be) muscle. I'm trying not to get too, too excited, since I know I have to settle in for a fairly long haul to get to goal. But it sure is nice to kick it off with getting well out of the 180's right off the bat! It's very nice to have a little variety in the menu plan now. It's funny, but I was SO craving anything green/crunchy/fresh when I couldn't have it, but now that I'm allowed it, I have to remind myself to eat it. Hmmm, can you say 'emotional eater'? Hope you are all doing well on the plan. I've had so little time, I have to catch up on all of your posts. Off to make everybody dinner now. Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day! I managed to resist any and all BLT's (bites/licks and tastes) of all things chocolate. I'm feeling very strong at the moment. It's probably the AS speaking. Thank god for those!

Congrats on the huge week 1 weight loss! I only lost 5.5 and wondering why...i was eating exactly 500 cals a day with no cheating whatsoever. Hoping for a better loss this week, or at least another 4-5 lbs. Today I definitely went over my calories...but didnt give in to the sweets temptation. I'm doing this without the AS, but thinking that I should start taking them again.

Make sure you drink the required amount of water everyday. Lack of hydration can put you too far into ketosis and sabotage your weight loss.
And always eat at least 500 calories. Any less and you burn muscle instead of fat. |

Hey jsd79,
Try not to be discouraged. I had a few things help me along. My first weigh-in was in the middle of the day on a Wednesday, and I actually started the diet that morning instead of waiting til the next day. Then, my second weigh-in was first thing in the morning the next Thursday. So I was actually on the start of my ninth day, and it was at the time of day when I'm always at my lightest. Also, my TOM showed up in the middle of my first week, so I shed some of the water weight I was carrying at my first visit. If you're like me, my weight is so variable from day to day, and from hour to hour, morning til night. But what I love about the scale they use at the MWL clinic. It allows me to focus on the most important numbers I want to see move, and those are the FAT pounds. The water weight can zing around like a pinball, but as long as the fat pounds keep going down I try to ignore the variables that just get me discouraged (even though I know better). When you think about it, to burn off one pound of pure fat, you have to create a deficit in your body of approx. 3,500 calories. That takes a tremendous and consistent effort, especially for those of us who are food-challenged. As far as I'm concerned, anybody who makes it through that first week has accomplished a monumental feat, and we should all be proud of ourselves for that, no matter what the scale says. ![]() Cheers! |

Week 1 Results
Hi all! I just had my first week weigh-in. I started on Saturday and my first weigh in was on Friday. I lost 9.4 pounds!
For those who have yet to start the journey, I posted some before weigh-in thoughts on the newbie thread. I am ready for another week and hope that if I keep following the program, it'll keep working. |
