Yay Layna! You will surprise yourself on this program. Take it one day at a time and don't think too far ahead.. that's worked so far for me. I focus on each meal/day and not on how long I'll "have" to do this. 8+ weeks into the program I feel very healthy and NORMAL, not like I'm doing something weird. You'll be surprised how motivated you get to incorporate exercise and healthy foods when you continue to see that scale go down down down!

I just started and was told I cannot take the appetite suppressant due to my thyroid. I was given Stay Slim. I don't know if I am going to get the same results as my coworkers that take the appetitie suppressant. Any one else out there with the same situation?

There are a number of people on this board who take thyroid meds and appetite suppressants. I am on Levothyroxin for hypothyroid and have had no problems with the app. suppressants. I think somebody is giving you incorrect information.
If you go to the Main Medi Board and look for the "Search" area, you can type in "thyroid", choose "posts" rather than "threads" and see what comes up. BTW, your question about thyroid would be better placed in the Newbies thread. This thread is intended for people to post their week 1 loss as encouragement for others. Hope this helps!!

Sorry about posting in wrong spot. Don't know all the 'rules'. I figured it would be best to post in the same thread I had quoted from. Accept my apologies. Thanks again for helping. |

My 1st weigh in . I lost 9lbs!
I know it's silly but I was a bit disappointed With my starting weight and the fact that I went through the week following the plan to a T with not a smitch of cheating I expected to lose at least 10 or more. The Dr wasn't at the clinic yesterday but the PA after looking at my journal feels that I am drinking too much water and retaining. She advised me to cut back a little. Also does anyone feel that weighing late in the day affects their numbers? My appt was at 6pm. I weighed myself at home this am upon arising and my scale which is very accurate showed me down 13lbs. Just to clarify, I love the plan and I'm sticking to it. |

I make my appointments in the morning, I feel "lighter" hahha...and I read that 2 cups of water weighs 1 pound
don't be discouraged, 9 pounds is amazing. Also, avoid weighing yourself at home. I know you just started but try to not get in the habit of doing it. Just take the scale and stick it in the closet somewhere out of view. good luck and keep it up! |

9 pounds is awesome! Congrats!!! You can weigh on average 3 pounds more at the end of the day than in the morning. I'm not so sure you are drinking too much water. My clinic has told me that water retention is due to not drinking enough. I shoot for 128 oz per day. Susie ![]() |

Thanx Justin, I'm not at all discouraged, I'm just a little disappointed. I am def following your advice to avoid the scale and just rely on my weekly weigh ins.
Thanx Susie, I too have always believed that the lack of water causes water retention and my ketostix have been in the deep purple range since the 4th day. That is supposed to be because I'm not drinking enough water but I drink plenty of water. I do well over the 8 16 oz cups. So i'll experiment and see what happens. |

Thanx Robyn,
I really love when successful " losers" like yourself, Justin and Susie and the others chime in. The support and encouragement from you all is very valuable. I don't have a problem at all with water. I do drink a lot and pure water not tea, don't drink coffee and I limit myself to 1 12 oz can of caffeine free diet coke or Pepsi (whichever is on sale) if I start to feel a little peckish at night. I'm not doing the TOM anymore but I have a long history of retaining water. I'm going to keep up with the water I was drinking getting in as much as I can. I have 25oz cups that I got from Curves and I drink more than 6 of those a day and I have 1-2 cups of Crystal light. I'm looking forward to next week to see what happens. You have a great week too. |

You are welcome! Another natural diuretic is pure lemon juice (from a real lemon, not the bottled stuff), maybe add it to your water. I wish I was done with TOM, Hate it! Also watch for too much Artificial sweetners, they can make you stall or slow down weight loss too....

Well, I wasn't done with it but I had severe fibroids that interfered with my quality of life so you know what comes next in some cases .
Hope that's not TMI for some , I tried to be discreet . I used to do the lemon in my water thanks for the reminder!! |
