Confused after first week weigh in

I had my end of the first week weigh in this morning. I was happy to hear that I lost 12.6 lbs. However, the body composition analyzer indicated that I had a net gain of 7.4lbs. of fat! I do not know how this is possible. I understand that you lose a lot of water weight in the early stage of a diet, but i dont understand how it's possible to gain 7 lbs of fat whaen the entire weeks caloric intake was 3500 calories. Please help!!

Read the thread about these scales.

tanita tidbits

I am to the point of just ignoring the Fat% number because it is really so dependant on how hydrated you are.

Thank you. I won't let the readings other than weight effect me!
