Gosh Jo, I'm so proud of you! It really shows what you are made of when you can post a loss every week. As you always say, "slow and steady wins the race."
Thank you for posting the totals for April. It is such great motivation to see how the entire team is doing. Our clinics are wonderful but but cant replace support and encouragement from individuals who face and the same struggles.

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on in a while and everyone has done so well. Congratuations to all of us losers.

I hope all the mommies had a great day yesterday and stayed on plan.

We went out on our lake and had a beautiful day boating and picnicing. We had parents, in-laws and 4 other sets of families with us. My family provided grilled chicken and the Fresh Broccoli salad in the recipe section. I am happy to say I stayed exactly on plan and did not have any problems with chips, cakes, alcohol etc... It felt really good to just enjoy the day and not care about the food!

Today is my weigh-in, I am feeling good about it! I post it later. Have a great week ahead and I look forward to everyones posts! Keep on losing!!!

I made it through the weekend which consisted of a couple of dangerous situations:

Saturday - Movie theater to see star trek - brought sliced apples and some almonds (not many) to snack on...the popcorn was VERY tempting.

Sunday - big mothers day get together, had a little too much prime rib, but passed on bruschetta, orange sherbert, mashed potatoes, alcohol, and chocolate cheesecake. woohoo!!!

Robyn and Justin~WOOHOO!!! Temptation City and you made it through unscathed!

I had friends over for dinner, and since I was in control of the menu, there were no issues! I made Susie's Cheesecake goodies for dessert!

Report of Obvious Romulan Interference!

Justin, et al...

I too went to the Star Trek opening this weekend. Unfortunately, I was the victim of an obvious Romulan conspiracy involving mind control and the removal of my will-power. I ate the Popcorn. (Romulan Popcorn, I'm sure.)

Actually though, I only had the smallest bag available, whereas, I used to go through two if the extra-large buckets in a single sitting. The Carb-Rush was amazing and uncomfortable. Happily, I never dropped out of Ketosis. It was the first time I've eaten something not on the approved list. I wont do it again.

Now for a question to the group...Does anyone know the differnce between a Bottom-Sirloin Tip Roast and a Sirloin Tri-Tip Roast. Or are they the same thing?

Good luck to all this week. My next weigh-in is on Wednesday. I'll post results then.

Also, anybody on here from the Dallas/Fort Worth/Southlake area?

Troy

Ah Troy, you just need to work on your "won't power". It works like a proverbial cloaking device to help keep you from being tempted!

Thanks Jo! I know what you mean when you are in-charge, meaning you have control over what is in the house!

Troy - you at least improved from your previous movie habits, next time you won't even want the popcorn!

happy monday

So I think everyone but me has seen the new star trek movie, thats ok though I didn't see any of the new star wars movies or harry potter movies either LOL

I had my big day yesterday eating out for the first time. No alcohol and I stayed on program.... it was sad not being able to eat anything but I felt good for not cheating.

I read an article on AOL about crazy fast food meals and the high fat sodium and calorie content, made me not want to eat processed foods.

Do most of you just excrsize the 30 min x4 days a week like medi recommends? I have done atleast 30 minutes the past few days and the pool days have made me ache the most plus I'm getting a nice tan.

My cousin came down from Tampa and is doing a similar program. She started last year in the 240s and is down to the 150s now. We went clothes shopping yesterday and she grabbed 10's from where she usually shops and had to get me go and get her 8s because the 10s didnt fit. She said she was scared to put on the 8s because they may not fit but they actually fit perfect. I can't wait to have that feeling!

OMG Robyn, 41.4 pounds since March 9th! Wasn't that like a week ago??? Unbelievable! You should see if Medi wants to hire you because you would make a wonderful Medi coach. You give great advice and you care. Love that. McBoo and Jo, you would make great coaches too!

Hudiman - I am so glad you are trying out the recipes. That is what has made this WOE work. I have eaten unbelievable well since being on this plan. Yesterday I had eggs benedict (made completely legal) and my husband said it was the best eggs benedict he had ever had. It was a recipe that someone posted a video link to. I adapted it by adding the hollandaise sauce posted in the recipe thread and using egglands best poached eggs.

Ashley - Congrats on the 4 pound loss. You are doing so well. Good luck on the move. We will miss you in Florida. Good thing we are internet friends.

Justin - I love seeing your lifestyle changes, especially the way you are planning. The apples and almonds were a great idea. I sometimes take beef jerky and beef sticks (made by Obergo). The beef jerky takes a long time to chew and has a lot of protein.

Troy - You have a great sense of humor. Sounds like it was a small and controlled goof that you learned from. I love how you shrugged it off and got right back on plan. WTG!

Madeia98 - ! You did a great job eating out. It is not as hard as we think it's going to be once we know how we are supposed to eat. I am there with you on the clothes shopping. I am in a size 10 and have one pair of size 8's that fit. I am 8 pounds away from my goal and I am hoping by then I will be a size 8. It is so rewarding to try on a smaller size and have it fit. Congrats to your cousin. She has come a long way.

Jo - Your posts are always so encouraging. I love that you took charge of Mother's Day. Me too. In fact, my friends are going low carb after seeing how well it has worked for me and they are losing weight too. Jo, I tried to make fudge using a recipe on the Hershey site and using their Hershey dark chocolate unsweetened cocoa and substituting all the non-Medi ingredients. It tasted wonderful, but didn't set unless I froze it. It was the first thing I've made that satisfied the chocolate craving.

I weighed in today and lost another 1.2 pounds for a total of 55.2 pounds. I have 7.8 pounds to go. I will not have another clinic visit for 3 weeks due to my trip to New York for my sons graduation combined with a visit to Baltimore to see family.

For those of you who haven't posted in a while, we miss you. I hope you are just busy and have not given up.

Hello everybody! I am back home after 17 days overseas .... I gained 5 pounds, which I think is not that bad, since I ate everything, but I could control the portions.
I was worry not to have the willpower to go back on track. But to be honest, I was missing my MEDI way of eating ... So, I got back home last night and this morning I started my program again. I am really proud of myself!

I am not going tomorrow for my weigh-in since I do not want to pay to hear that I gained 5 pounds. I still have medicines for another week. I called today and I set my appointment for next week. I hope I will be able to lose those 5 pounds plus some more

I was reading about everybody sucess and I want to congratulate all of you .... You are my inspiration to be back on track!

Happy to be back!

Susie- Have an awesome trip!!!

Robyn- Way to go!!!

Silvia- Welcome back Sounds like you had a great time.

Does anyone else not "feel" like they're losing weight? I know it's only my 2nd week but last week I felt like I was losing. I felt like I could even see it (may have been wishful thinking, but still). This week, not so much. I am still in ketosis but for some reason I think I'll go and not lose much this week?? We'll see. I guess it's just different since my diet has changed since week 1.

Hang in there. You will be surprised. You have to trust this WOE. It is amazing. I felt like you did, but just kept losing and losing weight. I started 1 week before Thanksgiving and have lost over 55 pounds. I have been eating amazingly well, just gave up the bread group and other starches. I have found amazing replacements. I still have pancakes once in a while, deserts, and plenty of snacks. If you are willing to experiment and do some minor cooking you will be successfull. Good luck and keep posting.

Pulled some more of my old clothes out this weekend and ended up wearing a pair of size 56 jeans to work Monday! WOO HOO! Christmas 2008, I was wearing size 6X stretch waist jeans which measures 64". I freaked out a bit on Saturday though! I had worked out at the YMCA and it was a hard one (30 minutes cycling, 30 minutes circuit training). Afterwards I went out to my car, turned it on and took a drink from my Smart Water bottle. As I was drinking I glanced in the rear view mirror and did a double take! I have a neck! I can see details like tendons and swallowing motions! It has been a long time since I have seen that! lol! I have also commited to walking for the American Heart Association on June 13th. That is a 3.2 mile walk at Wichita State University. That should be fun as I'm walking with several co-workers who are very supportive of my weight loss.

Jerry and Justin- Awesome milestones!!!!! Way to go!!

Susie- Thanks for the encouragement! I have been sticking with the program and not cheated at all but I think I've eaten more than 2 cups of veggies in the last couple of days. Things like broccoli and cauliflower. I love vegetables.

Time to see what I am made of.....

OK. So I have the "perfect storm" coming up. My husband and I work for a company whose year end is next month. We are usually working very late into the night during this time. In the past, I have usually gained weight during May/June because I never have time to prepare meals and we just ordered out. Part of the reason I started the program in March was to get ahead of my "year end" weight gain.

To add to the usual stress, our house has been for sale for the last year and we just got an offer on Mother's Day and we have to move in 30 days. I am thrilled, but expect a LOT of stress and late nights (on top of parenting our two little ones).

I am 110% determined that I will not let this get me. I have established good enough habits to continue to do well. I will plan to always have deli turkey, cottage cheese and cheese sticks in the fridge for a quick meal. I am a little concerned about my ability to get excercise in, but I will shoot for 30 min 3x/wk. This is the point in every diet that I have failed - I get too busy and take my eye off the ball. If I can get past this next 45 days, it will be a huge victory for me. I guess I am just writing it all down here to get my doubts out of my system. I know I can do this. Thanks for letting me put it out there.

Hi Curley,

You are made of gold and you can do this. Do you take the appetite suppresants? If so, now might be the time to make sure you get them in. You do not want to be weak at a wrong moment. I have gotten to where I only take them once a day, but if I know something big is coming up, I will take them 3 times a day, then go back to once a day once the event passes. If you are already taking them 3 times per day you may ask your clinic to increase your dose just while you are under these stressful times. I don't know if I am typical, but I have no problem cutting back when I don't need them and I use them when I do. Also, don't let too much time pass without eating protein. You need to keep your blood sugar level.

Just my 2 cents for whatever it's worth. I'm glad you are back. We missed you.

Susie

Jo and CurleyQ,

You did such a wonderful job of posting on everyones successes that I am going to take the lazy way out and just say ditto. You all rock! I am anxious to go watch the Biggest Loser finale that I recorded while I was at our always fabulous end of the year PTA dinner. Our high school is right across the street from Universal Studios, and every year they treat us to dinner at one of their restaurants and let us order whatever we want (including alcohol if you want it) and pick up the bill. Isn't that amazing? I had lemon rosemary roasted chicken (I removed the skin), brocolli, and roasted peppers at Pastamores. I wouldn't have made that choice if I hadn't taken an appetite suppresant before I went.

Jerry, I do have to say something to you. I am so happy for you and can totally relate. I love seeing bones that I haven't seen in 10 years. I have ribs! And I have body parts below my belly!! Who knew??? You are a hoot and we love your posts. You are losing weight at a "Biggest Loser" pace. Does this mean you are going to do a marathon?

To everyone, thanks for being an inspiration. I always feel like I get way to cheesy in my posts, but I know I would not have been as successful if it hadn't been for all of you. You all keep me honest.

Susie

Thanks to all of you who write about your journey.
Question to you all - did you go through a period where, after you started, that you were angry, sad, frustrated, that you had let yourself get to this point?
to all of you!

For me the emotion is more of disbelief. I still think I am that fat person in my mind. I still go to the XL's and larges. Now every top in my closet is way to big even though I just bought them. Tonight I had to pull out the sewing machine and take an inch off each side of the shirt I wanted to wear tonight. I am having trouble coming to terms that I am a medium. Everyone tells me I look normal to thin, but I still feel fat and think they are just telling me what I want to hear. I know deep down that I am not, but that is how I am used to feeling. Does anyone else struggle with this? McBoo, did you go through this? I think it is because the weight came off unbelievably fast.

The other thing is all the attention! At first it was wonderful, but sometimes it is so overwhelming that it feels awkward. I know everyone is so proud of me and being supportive and I love them for that, but I am ready to blend in.

It is so wonderful to have this forum to express our emotions. Thank you all!

Susie

Susie - Thanks for the support. I don't take suppressants and until now I haven't found myself feeling hungry during the day, but if I do I will definitely start up the suppresants. Eating frequent meals is a great point and I will make sure to do that.

ps - your posts aren't cheesy. I think everyone comes to this board for your kind of posts. It wouldn't be very inspiring or supportive if we all just posted our weigh in results and walked away.

My thoughts.....

haven't posted in a while as we've been out of town a lot. Very tough!Though I have not really cheated, I've gone over calories/carbs a bit. Still very happy with 23 lbs gone in two months--started March 11th. I'm eating what I'm supposed to, but have had a few more cocktails than normal and haven't been able to walk as much.

However, I started back full force yesterday and am so happy. People, this plan works. period. I love it and am not losing too fast. I'm comfortable, happy and calm. To me, sugar is BAD! High quality protein is very important, as is drinking all of your fluids/water. I try to keep meals simple but packed with flavor using herbs, etc. I love chicken on George Forman, ground turkey burgers, shrimp, lean pork loin...all measured. Walking 45 minutes 4 times a week is great, and that's what I want to get back to. I take all my supplements and get my extra shot. I take an extra fiber choice if I eat a steak or feel like i'm not getting enough fiber. I think Suzy is SO right about taking an extra pill when you're off schedule or stressed. That REALLY helped me this past weekend in NEW ORLEANS!. I had fish with sauce on side and barely dipped it. Lots of vegetables and carried a few almonds. Had eggs for breaks and had EAS shakes in the ice chest...filling, high quality protein that fills you up and tastes good, for emergencies

I know this is long but wanted to share...i do sometimes wear pants that are too big...why? i have no idea..I, too, feel like I'm still really overweight, though I'm doing well. I have a long way to go but am happy with this new way of life. My Medi team is wonderful and very supportive. THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR A WONDERFUL BOARD! Lucy
