I need to drink my full gallon in water and then I also have 1 cup of coffee and 1 can of diet coke each day. Water gain is a real issue for me. I really have to stay away from anything processed like lunch meats. I have also quit salting my food too. Another thought, how is your ketosis level? Could there be a veggie or fruit that is causing you to stay out of ketosis? Good luck this week. Keep us posted.

Why is it so hard to lose that pound or 2 move into the next set of 10?!?!?! You will do it because you are so determined. Good luck this week! And just think by the time school is out you will probably be approaching the 150's!

Heidi - So glad you are getting comfortable with the program and us! It is so hard to admit that you have a problem. I think this site is so helpful for all of us because we all know that being overweight does not mean that we were all sitting around eating bonbons all day. When the Biggest Loser first came out on TV, I thought "Oh great, another show to make fun of fat people". I was wrong, people are actually seeing how hard it is for some people to lose weight, that it is not just a matter of "Pushing yourself away from the table" mentality. So congratulations on posting your goals and more importantly, keep posting!

Justin1 - Awesome job so far! Have a great week!

Becky - Good luck tomorrow and enjoy those veggies!

I think a florida get together would be so fun! You are probably most centrally located and have probably the most entertaining area as well! Lets figure something out!

I will be so glad to start eating like a rabbit. I miss anything other that meat egg and cheese LOL.

The other day I ran to subway with a friend. I wanted one so bad because of the smell of carbs (bread) even though eating a sub from there makes my stomach upset. Prob because I used to eat the whole damn thing. Right now that would prob be 2 days of food on the program plus wayyyy too many carbs. But before the weekend I got rid of leftover and my fav chicken chow mein and I almost threw up from the smell.

Well atleast I am glad I have more energy today, prob from the shot yesterday. I glad because Im on my feet all day doing hair.

Hi Becky

I noticed that you work in a salon and you live in Fort Myers! Where do you work? My daugther will be moving to FGCU in August. She is waiting to take her state exam any day now! She recently won the State Skills USA cosmetology competition and will be representing Florida at the National level in June. She has a job right now once she gets her license at Great Clips here in Land O lakes and will transfer to the Great Clips near FGCU. She would love to work in a full service salon because she really enjoys hair coloring which they do not do in a Great Clips store. Do you have any suggestions for her? Thanks for your input!

Welcome Rosemarie

Good luck this week and make sure you READ everything on the Newbie page. The information in there is so helpful and inspiring.

Post often and no question is dumb or silly to us, as we have all been there or going through it too.

Have a great week of losing and beginning your new WOE.

Welcome Rosemarie! I am on day 6 and this 1st week has been tough but I'm making it! This week was also TOM for me... I figured if I was going to feel kind of cruddy, I may as well do it all the way! LOL It has been a challenge but focusing on just 1 meal choice at a time helped. I tried not to look too far ahead, just on making a good choice for that moment. Anyway, I'm hopeful!! Good luck to you too! Coming here every day has been a big help

I have a couple of questions...

Since this week is TOM does that usually slow your weight loss? I'm so nervous about my weigh-in tomorrow.

Yesterday I went by for the mid-week injection and some of my lab results had come back abnormal. Now, they didn't tell me to fast so the bloodwork was done non-fasting, but my triglycerides were sky-high and my TSH was abnormal. I have had high triglycerides since high school (heredity) but my cholesterol is low. Anyway, I am really concerned about the TSH. Does anyone else here have that issue? I am making an appt with my PCP to get the labwork redone (fasting) and then review it with her. I'm just worried. My mom is hypothyroid so I kind of figured I'd get it eventually, but it was really depressing to see that number abnormal all of the sudden. The last time I had it checked was after I delivered my 2nd daughter, so that's been only about 6 month and it was normal.

Thanks for letting me share.

Robyn and anyone interested, what do you think about planning something for June? May is crazy for me, I have a son graduating from college in Manhattan and have to bring him home. What day of the week would work best? My recommendation is for a Friday or Saturday. I would be so much fun getting together.

Rosemarie - You have picked an awesome plan. We are all getting thinner by the moment. Week 1 is hard , but once you see the weight loss you are motivated to continue . I lost over 10 pounds the first week and that is fairly typical.

Jessica - I would definitely follow up with your doctor and have some fasting blood work done. Don't panic until you know the real results. Worrying will not help your weight loss. Let go and let God. Good luck on your weigh-in tomorrow. I am excited for you because that first weigh-in is so motivating. You will do great.

Troy and Jim - Congratulations on the weight loss. As for the tanita scale, I wish they would do away with it because it only confuses and frustrates everyone. Even though I have shown a loss every week since starting, inevitably either my water or my fat goes up. Despite it all I have lost 54 pounds and I know it has not all been water. So, I just ignore the details and focus on the pounds loss.

I am going to start a new thread with week 1 weight losses. I think it might be motivating for newbies to see what they are in store for. If you are comfortable doing so, please post your week 1 weight loss in the new thread. Thanks!

Susie

Today is my first day and I had bloodwork done yesterday. I didn't even think to ask about the lab values being tested. You mentioned the TSH and triglycerides. Do you know what else is tested?

Donna- Mine was a full workup, cholesterol (total and both types), triglycerides, iron, etc.. I have a copy of the lab work. It's a good thing that they test you because if there is a problem (as in my case!) you need to get it taken care of.

Susie- Thanks so much for the encouragement. I just keep feeling that I will go in and lose nothing at all for all this work. I haven't cheated or deviated from the plan but I'm nervous.

Fingers crossed!

Fellow Floridians, we should have a get together in a centralized Florida location. I'd be happy to organize something or even host. I live 3 miles from the Disney marketplace. Non-Floridians willing to come would be welcome too!

Congrats on your loss! You are doing great , don't get discouraged! You must be feeling better with the 30 lbs gone!?Don't get caught up too much on that scale, you are consistantly losing each week, that 's what matters. It took me 13 weeks to lose 39.5 , so no tears for you!

Robyn - I do work in a salon, but it’s a school salon, I am still in cosmetology school. I do know right now a lot of salons are not hiring stylists, and its mostly booth rental available. The best thing to do would probably take her portfolio and visit salons in person.
Keep losing the pounds everyone, I am finally out of week 1 tomorrow!

I am heading to Amsterdam and Greece for 2 weeks, I leave Wednesday. Does anyone have any travel diet tips that they can share? I was thinking of bottling I can't believe it's not butter and my salad spray into small little travel bottle's (so I can fit in my purse).

I think that's a great idea. I would also take 100 calorie packs of beef jerky, the 100 calorie packs of almonds, and power pops. I get the 100 calorie packs at BJ's.

I will be heading to Italy with my husband the end of July, so I will be facing the same challenges. I'm hoping to be in maintenance by then so I can partake of the gelato. What is Italy without gelato???

Gretta,

I would absolutely love to meet up with you for coffee, but that is when I will be driving up to New York for my son's college graduation. I leave on May 17th and won't get back until the 26 or 27th.

Here comes the Executive Concierge Travel Counselor coming out in me! Check the TSA current page for allowables and non allowables for international travel, and note that different countries vary a little in what is allowed.

Here is a helpful website for you:
TSA Permitted and Prohibited Items List

And here is one for information on the Netherlands:
Netherlands, The

And for Greece:
Greece

If you are an experienced international traveller. you probably know all this already. If you want or need more information, I will be happy to assist in any way I can. It is, after all, what I do!

Had my 6th weigh in and lost 4.8lbs for a total of 26.4lbs and my husband lost 4.5lbs for a total of 35lbs.
I finally “lost” one of my little girls - I am now pre-baby weight for my 7 month old daughter. 10 more lbs to go to “lose” my 3yr old and then it is all about me after that! Feeling partcularly good today!

I had the same thing happen to me, only more incredible. I lost 12.6 lbs. this week, but gained 7.4 lbs of fat! I think the scale is screwy.

Hi everyone, I started medi at the beginning of April and was so happy to find this site. I lost 25 pounds this month and the practitioner gave me a really hard time. She told me if I continue to lose the weight this quick that I'll never be able to keep it off. I'm sticking to the program and eating all of my calories, what does she want me to do!
