However, when the nurse and I read the printout, I had LOST THREE POUNDS OF FAT and GAINED THREE POUNDS OF MUSCLE!! I have not felt this GREAT in YEARS!

I'm getting so many comments from people about how GREAT I look - it feels really weird. I'm only 10 days away from being FIFTY -- BUT I have to admit, I look better now than I did when I was FORTY!

Welcome! You are right. This is a one of a kind weight loss program. I have lost 53 pounds after 10 years of trying every diet out there. Congrats on finding Medi!

I had a little hiccup on Friday night, pizza. I am now out of ketosis, it is my second week. Do I go back to week 1 diet or can I still eat veggies?

I would just cut the veggies for a couple of days and see if you can get back in Ketosis, meaning keep the cheese etc. Just make you calories the 500 in protein and not the extra for the 2 servings of Veggies.

Try not to cheat, it really isn't worth it. Good luck this week!

I agree with Robyn, back to week one plus the cheese, in fact, you can do week one for a couple of days to see if that gets you back in ketosis, if not, stay with it till you are. This is a major lifestyle change that you really need to commit to 100%. Cheating turns it into a game. This is not a game, this is your life and you only go around once.

I do not mean to sound harsh or unfeeling. I really want only the best for you and the best comes from total commitment to the program. Do not beat yourself up about it, just get back on the horse and keep riding!

Hi Everyone! On day 3 here. I tested for ketosis and that stick turned DARK pink really fast. So I guess I am in ketosis for sure! But the nurse told me that if you're on the darkest 2 colors that also means you're probably not drinking enough water. I've been chugging water and Crystal Lite but we were outside a good bit of yesterday and it's quite warm here, so I'm not surprised to be a little dehydrated.

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday! I have managed to resist temptation at a kids' birthday party, Starbucks, and Sundy School class pastries all this weekend! LOL

I have to drink over the 128 ounces of water. If I don't, then I don't lose and I am dehydrated.

I agree, Shas! Here in Phoenix, it is beginning the annual "heating up" heading toward days on end of triple digits. I always take two water bottles with me when I go walking in the am. A good one to keep and a "disposable" one that I can dispose of in a waste container on the way home! Because the humidity is so low (at least until monsoon season), you can dehydrate out here very very quickly. More is better out here!

Congrats to all the losers!

I just got back from 4 days on Martha's Vineyard. Boy was it boring just getting a chicken breast every night for dinner.

I did eat a bagel!!! We were there to do a 50K bike ride for MS and I thought I was going to be fine. I had a 3 egg omelet with ham for breakfast and headed out. It was a 4 mile ride to the start. I almost passed out. In biking terms I bonked. I ran out of gas. I gave in and ate a 1/2 wheat bagel and a banana and I kicked butt in the ride. My total for the day was 40 miles with hills. We also walked all weekend so I should be fine. I am really interested in seeing what the scale says on Thursday.

This is a beautiful time of the year to visit the Vineyard!

for all the losses and to all the newbies!

I just got back from my weekly weigh-in and I'm down 1 pound for a total of 54 pounds. Boy these last pounds are sure going slow, but they are going in the right direction. I haven't had a week where I didn't lose and that is since November 10th.

Also, I get the Hungry Girl daily emails and today she promoted a new product from an old friend that looks to be medi friendly...

"Frank's RedHot Wings Sauce in Sweet Heat BBQ - If you love hot sauce and BBQ sauce, you will FLIP over this stuff. A tbsp. has 20 calories, no fat, and 5g carbs (POINTS® value 0*). We've tried it, and we LIKE it. BTW, while it's definitely not low in sodium, it does have about half as much sodium as original Frank's."

I know some of you are already fans of Frank's.

I believe you have to have a certain number of posts in order to send a PM (private message). When you hit that number you will see a little box up in the right hand corner of your screen about private messages, just under the welcome message, and you will be good to go!

Got the number babyboyst! Keep up the good work!

WTG, cbenjamin! You are off to a great start! I explained about the PMs (private messages) in the post above, so if you pop up there you will
see what it is all about! I have your number loaded into my word document!

A pound lost is a pound you will never see again! You are almost there! You
are an inspiration!

I shall have to prowl about the market for Frank's. I discovered a favorite while I was working in the UK: Nando's Peri Peri Sauce...from Nando's restaurant. I buy it online here. I have to check out the nutritional stuff though before I use it on the program.

Happy Monday everyone! Congrats on all the losses! That's so encouraging.

~~ Can any of you pros give me some tips on getting enough water in? I am a "sipper" and I rarely finish a drink. These past 3 days have been a challenge. I feel like I'm ALWAYS drinking and I'm getting around 75oz in, but I still show as the darkest color on the ketosticks. Any tips for me?

Have a great day!

I can tell you what works for me. Again, as with everything, it can be different for every person. I live in Arizona, where the humidity is very low (except during monsoon season), so I really work at staying hydrated, especially when outdoors a lot.

I have a large water bottle that holds a liter. I keep it filled with water all the time. Three refills is a little over 101 oz. I also like the Safeway or Sams Clear sparkling water. Both are 0 everything! I drink one a day. They are a liter. Now I am over the recommended 128oz. I also allow myself 1 cup of coffee a day. My cup holds 12 oz, there is another 12 oz. And I will usually add in a 0 calorie Sobe Lifewater (some sodium but do-able), there is another 20 oz.

You can add lemon or lime juice to your water for variety.

I go through 2 liters just on my morning walk! 66+ oz done for the day!

Living out here, I have just gotten used to taking a water bottle with me just about everywhere I go. It became a habit out of necessity.

The water/liquid is necessary to help flush the fat cells out of your body. It is a little more complicated than that actually, but that is the easiest explanation. Your 128 oz does not HAVE to be all water, but it is best if most of it is.

It is also not a good idea to rely on diet sodas for the majority of the ounces.

And again, that is just what works for me. You will find a way that works for you. A habit takes about 21 days to establish and become natural to you.
Hang in there!

I oven roast mine:

Preheat oven 450
-Spray Olive Oil Pam on Cookie sheet
-Spray Asparagus very lightly with Pam and dust with dry ranch dressing, or chopped garlic, salt and pepper, or Italian Seasoning, Montreal Seasoning or Blackened Red Fish seasoning - you get the idea...
-Roast in the oven for 20 minutes until cooked to the tenderness you like.

I do this with almost all veggies that are on our list! The roasting brings out their favors and it is so simple.

Take you App. Supp. at 4 pm then and that should help you. You have to adjust them to fit your needs. Also I was reading that you are having a hard time with the water, I have such dry mouth that I am craving the water. I don't really remember if that was a problem in week 1 though, it is definately one that happens daily now. The dark purple is because you need to drink more water.

I am back from my weigh-in today and I lost 3.6 pounds for the week and 37.4 in 8 weeks. But the best part of all, I AM NO LONGER WEIGHING OVER 300 POUNDS and WILL NEVER AGAIN!!!! I have lost an average of 3.5 per week since starting March 9, 2009. I just cannot believe how great this WOE is working! Thanks to all of you for all the love and support!

Thanks for the asparagus recipe. And congratulations (Susie and Crobyninc and everyone else that has put the work in) on your weight loss. I think 1-3 lbs a week is awesome. The slower it comes off the better and more likely to stay off. Remember, keep moving.

crobyninc- I started getting a lighter shade this afternoon, so that's good! I have pretty much had a glass of ice water in my hand all day! I took my appetite suppressant at 4pm but I am just still starving by dinner. It's almost like a blood sugar crash or something. I just feel myself wilt.

Obviously not for this week, but what restaurant/dining out recommendations can you guys make? I haven't seen anything on the Medi boards specifically and all that's on the "reviews" area of this site is Fridays and Ruby Tuesday. We love to eat out and will do it much less now but I still want to plan for a healthy date night out if possible after week 1 ends!

I do this with almost all veggies that are on our list! The roasting brings out their favors and it is so simple.

Robyn,

That looks really good. I will have to try that. I usually cook my asparagus in one of the steam bags, then drain and add the hollindaise sauce recipe I posted in the recipe thread, and a little salt and pepper. My husband even likes the sauce and he is usually pretty critical.

I tried to make onion rings with the pork rinds. They were pretty good, but it did not make very many.

I think we are all mentors. I started out just like you and then started to share tips that I thought were helpful. McBoo encouraged me to post some recipes in the recipe thread and start the Newbie thread. I guess you could say that McBoo was my mentor and now you are mentoring others. This has been a great resource for me and part of why I've been so successful. Keep posting those great tips and recipes!
