I have my weigh in this afternoon since yesterday was a holiday. I am hoping for a decent loss, but I am not sure that will happen. I started going to the golf driving range this weekend and went everyday. I am so sore down my whole backside! I fear I have some muscle weight to deal with - all good of course, but I really like seeing those 4 pound weight loss weeks! It felt so good to be hitting on the range, I really enjoyed myself as it has been over 30 years since I hit a golf ball! I also did some major major cleaning this weekend, cleared out my closet and then it escalated to clearing the entire house and scrubing baseboards etc. So I will post my weigh in later today!

Have a wonderful week everyone and I am wishing everyone great weigh ins!
Hey robyn
back!

I've been there and done that!
And, you know what?, when I did all that housework/yardwork, I lost the most weight!
Exercise comes in all different forms!

Weoigh-in #9 results.

Minus another 3lbs to 203.5 for a grand total of 39lbs over nine weeks. I can't complain about that.

Leaving for a 4 day cross-country trip to New Mexico on Thursday AM. It's what's gonna pass for a vacation this year. Have lots of medi-complainat food packed and hope not to slip too much. As much as I hate eating out of a cooler, I guess I can handle it for four days. Wish me luck!

Talk to yall next week unless I find online access while gone.

Back on track

I have been off the wagon for a few months. I finally was able to see the doctor yesterday. Well, I had only gained 1.6 lbs since the end of March that wasn't too bad. I restarted today so hopefully I will be on to my goal of losing 20 more lbs. I really love my doctor. I was so down on myself for not losing and gaining back but he was quick to point out that I had lost over 35 lbs since starting and that my BMI had gone from 32 to 26.

So, here I am again to start the process with the best group of people ever but this time I am armed with my Miracle Noodles and all the wonderful receipes on the board.

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive.

Lady Pelinore- Way to go!! That's awesome

Troy- Have a great trip! It sounds like you're well prepared

Robyn- Good luck today!!

Heather- Welcome back!!

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day holiday! I went shopping with my mom and had a family BBQ in the evening. I overdid it on the Wii on Sunday evening and am SO sore on my thighs that it makes me want to cry every time I have to sit or stand up. Ouch!

Quick question, has anybody had Low Carb meals on airplanes (particularly international flights)? I am traveling to Russia in July and there will be lots of food issues that are out of my control but I'm thinking about whether requesting LC on the plane will be a good idea.

Jessica~
It really depends on the airline as to how the special meals are handled. If you can tell me that, I can help you more. Working in corporate travel for 20 plus years, there is very little that gets past me. Where in Russia? It IS possible to stay pretty close to plan depending on where you will be.

When I travel internationally, I have always travelled business class so I can pretty much order what I want..depending again on the airline. And I am pretty fussy with the airlines I will fly!

I overdid the bike yesterday too....pushed it pretty hard so that when I walked this morning...I could really feel it!

*.*May Weight Loss Stats! Begin collecting your info!*.*

It is approaching the end of May. Sunday will be May 31, so it is time to begin collecting your weight loss stats. If you have had all of your clinic visits for May, just PM me with the info. I have set up my little chart for May so I am ready to go!

Jo- I have travelled quite a bit internationally too! This will be country #31 for me Hubby and I are leading a mission trip with our church. We will fly in to Moscow and immediately get on buses and go to a camp location about 2 hours outside the city to conduct an ESL camp. It will be similar to a college dorm style housing but the meals are handled by the camp staff completely and served to us (not even buffet style). Because of this, there will be a number of times that week when I have zero control over my food. I plan to eat as carefully as possible but I also have to balance that with the fact that I REFUSE to offend my hosts by not eating something that I am served if it will be obvious. I have been in way too many cultures to make that mistake.

Anyhoo, I knew about this trip before I even began Medi and I was aware of the challenge! I will bring along healthy snacks that I can eat in my room but our contacts there have already advised against bringing tooo many American foods and/or making a big deal out of eating them in front of the Russian students as this can be really offensive (i.e., "why is our Russian food not good enough for them").

As I said, I plan to eat carefully but know that I will probably be off plan for much of the time. I will take my meds and then plan to do week 1 when I return. It's a 10 day trip. Of course, I am flying coach (you are lucky!!).

Knowing this trip was coming is extra incentive for me now! I refuse to cheat or even get close to temptation now because I know the Russia trip may provide a setback, but I'm prepared going into it It's for a great reason!

I'm back and I missed you all!

Hi everyone,

I just got back from our NY trip for our son's graduation. I drove close to 40 hours and 2600 miles in a little over a week. I am exhausted and have not read any of the posts since I left. I hope all is well. Congrats to all the losers and welcome to everyone new. I look forward to catching up after I've had some sleep. The trip and graduation were wonderful. We even got to go white water rafting which was really fun. I stuck to the plan, so expect to see a loss, but who knows with all the eating out? I will weigh on my scale in the morning. My next appointment is on Monday.

Hi all - 3 week weigh in and down 16 pounds. Unbelievable! Thanks to the feedback I am now enjoying the EAS shake once a day (yum!) - it really is a nice treat. I have also been taking the fat burners and will continue to take them. I haven't ventured too far off the plain types of protein and a little veggies for now because I threw myself out of ketosis last week by accident (low calorie drink had more carbs than calories and I forgot to check - low cal vitamin water). I am impressed by everyone's weight loss. I told the clinic today about this website because they did not know. I appreciate everyone who writes as I read it every day for support. Thanks all!

Hi

Hello. I'm considering going to my local Medi Weight Loss clinic. I was just wondering what the pros and cons might be.

LauraJ31207 -
Here is my opinion -
Pro's: it works and you lose weight. It's not too hard to follow and you can basically be as creative as you want as long as you eat the right foods (see the menu area). Lots of support - both online and at the clinic.

Cons: You have to pay for it. One of the shots I get stings like heck! You do have to learn a new way of eating - but you probably need to do that anyway if you need to lose weight. I feel tired sometimes - but that is because I still need to find the balance of food to workouts. You always have to be aware of the carb content in foods - no more mindless eating!
That's my two cents - overall - TOTALLY WORTH IT if you are serious about losing weight.
Best wishes with your decision.

Thanks! I am totally serious about it. I got hurt at work 7 months ago and just recently was released by the Dr. I used to be extremely active, so this past 7 months has been hard on my body -- I gained 30 lbs. It really messed with my mental health and I'm always unhappy now. I want to be back how I was. This injury was a terrible thing to happen.

Wow thanks for the encouragement. I have considered it and I'm fine thanks. I struggle because I am around food a lot. I cannot serve my customers anything less than the best, and to meet those standards, I have to taste the food that I prepare. I use these little tiny spoons that you get at the icecream store, but when you make 10-15 different items in a session, you have to make sure that the quality is there. I'm good at what I do, and my family is well taken care of because of my skills. To continue to take care of my family I have to a) get and stay healthy, b) continue to work at the craft that I have been practicing for about 25 years. I wish it was easy to trade one for the other, but it isn't.

--Hi, your progress is amazing. I'm going to my first appointment tomorrow morning and I'm so excited to get started. I actually stopped drinking any caffeinated drinks over the weekend, so the withdrawl headaches would be gone by the time I start the program. Tomorrow can't come soon enough. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sure do but I stick to the fruits that are low on the glycemic index. Remember I am on maintainance so I am permitted different foods that are not permitted in the acute phase.
