I guess my question was, is spaghetti squash a winter squash? I can't seem to get a clear answer but it seems to be a winter squash.

Thanks Susie! That means Spaghetti Squash is NOT an OK pasta replacement for the acute phase of this diet.

today I went to mother earth and got the stuff I have been looking for, problem is not sure what to do with them. I could not find guar gum but did find xanthan gum, can I substitute one for the other, also got almound flour, and flaxseed meal and vanilla protein mix. need some recipes for these things if anyone has any, really looking for a desert or smoothie for the vanilla protein shake stuff. Thanks mary
also for those trying the miracle noodles, I have tried various recipes and the only one I can eat is using pizza sauce, parm cheese and add veggies, anything else I tried I was gagging on it. Listen to Susies advice on the prep, it does work. |

Is Flatout Wrap only for Maintenance period? Would one wrap kick me out of Ketosis?

From what I understand yes it is definitely for people in maintenance, not the acute phase. I am pretty sure it would kick me out of ketosis but everyone is different so it may or may not...but I would guess yes.

I asked my clinic about the low carb flat bread and low carb tortillas while I was in acute phase and they said absolutely no. They wanted me completely removed from those kinds of foods. In the long run I think it was the right decision as I got used to living without them. You might want to check with your clinic because every clinic is slightly different in what they allow. My concern would be that they might get you craving those kind of things again.

I have a question - can we start a "food porn" thread where we post pictures of the Medi-recipes when we cook them? I know that would help me A LOT! I'm a visual person and much prefer a cookbook with pictures. I've been reading through the recipe threads and I just felt like having pictures would be awesome! It also might give people who are considering Medi hope that they won't be eating "rabit food" or "solid proteins". Since this is a lifestyle change, let's celebrate our new style of living together through photos!
I made my first Medi recipe today and I took pictures of it - I'd love to share that experience somewhere so that others can see how EASY it was! What do you guys think???

LOL! I figured that the name might not fly, but that's what it is to me!! I can't wait to salivate over the photos of the dishes you're cooking- I KNOW they're going to be great! Can anyone start a thread? I kinda thought it had to be approved. I completely understand wanting to keep this board organized, so if it's not ok, just let me know!

Oh no! I just did it. I am SO SORRY if I stepped on anyone's toes. I thought Susie was saying it was ok for me to start one. I won't be offended if a moderator needs to delete it and restart another.

I have a question about figuring out the nutritional value of a recipe. I modified a recipe tonight and entered the values into the Daily Plate Website. It figured the calories to be 47 per serving, but when I added up the values of every ingredient I added in the correct quantity, I came up with 72.33 calories. How exactly should I do this?
Here are my stats: I used 2 cups of Egg Starts (generic Egg Beaters) Calories 30 per 1/4 cup serving - TOTAL 240 I used 1 cup of RF 4 Cheese Mexican Cheese Blend Calories 80 per 1/4 cup serving - TOTAL 320 I used 1 cup of steamed broccoli Calories 25 per 1/2 cup - TOTAL 50 I used 1 cup of shredded chicken breast - 258 per cup - TOTAL 258 TOTAL Calories 868 The recipe made 12 servings for a total of 72.33 RIGHT??? Or is there some secret formula that I don't know??? |

Has anyone made the Cinnamon Meringues (#16 on dessert thread)? I thought I would try these. I noticed there is no splenda or any sweetener. Do they taste sweet??

Also, what about recipes that call for things like cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, etc.. do you count those calories as part of the 500 calories of protein or as something else? ![]() |

Yes, according to my clinic, all calories outside your 2 vegetables or 1 fruit and 1 vegetable go against your protein calories.
