I need some help!

Hey everyone I'm having a horrible time lately and my cravings seem to be getting the best of me. Ive lost about 30lbs so far and you would think thats enough will power right there, but I dont know its like ive fallen off the diet wagon and I keep trying and all day I do great until dinner and then its just bad and it doesnt help that I work and go to school full time. So I dont have much time. Any advice in getting in motion. I havent weighed in this week so I dont know if I gained any weight, or stayed the same or what not, but I still work out alot and havent really noticed any weight gain. Thank you for your help!

I am also working full time and in graduate school full time. So time is precious when I have it. I have started cooking on sunday all my meals for the week. I put them in tupperware containers so that I can grab them for lunch at work and after I feed my two children I can heat it up at night without having to cook two seperate meals.

The main thing you have to concentrate on for this program is that it is a major lifestyle change. You are breaking old habits and building new ones. Working all day and going to school does mean that you are not really thinking about food as much as you might when you are home in the evening. Evening was a difficult time for me as well. But it is capable of being mastered. New habits take at least 21 days to become normal and natural for you. Cravings are common feelings for most addictions, and poor food habits ARE an addiction - one that you can conquer.

Preparing your food as "mathteacher" suggests is helpful also. Let your counselor know what you are experiencing. It may be you can change up the time you take your meds to better help control your appetite. You can also try Power Pops at that time of day(there is a thread for them).

Come on over to our main April thread. There are lots of us there to give you help and support! You CAN do this.

Awesome April 2009 for Medi!!

Hi Rutie,
I too am in the same craving mode. I try really hard to get over the cravings with favored coffee's and tea green tea is good, it flushes the fat right out of you. Can't lie I have cheated but got right back on the plan and I do feel a lot better when I don't indulge and pig out. This is a life change and your mind has to adjust to the way you eat. I keep a picture of me when I started and look at it and say never again. Also, 1 oz of beef jerky satisfies that hunger pain. Hope I helped.

Ruthie

Hi Ruthie,

I hear ya ...

For me?

All I can think about is the money I'm spending ...
for me that is a big motivator
that if I only lose 2 lbs that prorates to $35 a pound (hey $45 if you count getting the 2 extra shots per week)

so when I want to cheat - I think about how much I'm spending in terms of ... ok, I'm giving up the cost of a new dress for each pound ...
so if I want to be able to buy things again, I'd better lose it as best I can

Also, I know this may seem like reverse of what one should do ...
but ... instead of saying "I'm doing this for me"
I told everyone I know I'm on this diet - so I'm more accountable
I think ... "I have to lose weight because the staff at MWL will know, my mom, friends, etc. " ... so I'm doing it for them ...
when I think about doing it for Others? It makes me feel like I would be letting the "team" down ... and I care even more.

The biggest problem I have is craving sweets at night. I use to eat cookies, etc. while watching TV. Now, I have found the General Foods International Coffees - The Suisse Mocha, sugar Free, Decafinated and have a mug full at night. It does wonders for a chocolate craving and gives you extra water in the mean time!!!!

Hey, I suggest PowerPops. They are tasty and only 4 carbs per pop. It keeps my mouth occupied and I feel like I'm eating candy. They have helped me with cravings We have a thread with info about the pops. Good luck.

When I crave something with chocolate I make a "chocolate protein shake". I use ice, cold water, a scoop of the Medi-Weightloss Clinics chocolate protein powder and 1/2 of a sugar free chocolate pudding.... I blend it all together and use a straw. In the morning I make the same thing, but instead of water I put plain cold coffee- It is like a mocha frapaccino!

The drink turns out frothy and sweet!!
