Pedicure - Scales

I was told not to get a pedicure because it could alter the information at the weight in. Now that the weather is changing, I am in desparate need of a pedicure but I am not willing to sacrifice my weight. Has anyone else heard this?

roev, the nurse at the clinic told me that pedis could alter the scale reading and so I have always stayed away over the last few weeks because I did not want to chance it. I am so close to maintenance that I am afraid to do it and it will mess me up for the week.

I was told a number of things can alter the readings on the scale. One of the things was going to the bathroom right before you weigh. I have been doing that since week one. I would go get the pedi. I would not do it on the day you weigh in though. I would do it the day after.

Oh my God ........that's funny .....about the pedicure ....maybe because you lose a pound of dead skin? lol ........

If you go to the bathroom before weigh in, are you going to weigh less, right? at least your water number should go down ...

What else can alter the tanita reading?

Maybe the creams and things they put on your feet mess up the sensors in the scale? Other than that, I can't imagine why you couldn't do it. As somebody said above, just don't get a pedi on your weigh in day....I am still getting them!

I was told if you excersied before weigh-in. The nurse said just about anything can affect the reading. I wear the same clothes each week and have the same routine.

I'll ask my clinic on Wednesday and let you know.

I bet it's the lotions

When I called and made my initial appointment, they asked me not to use any lotions or creams. I'm pretty sure it had to do with the EKG and the scale.
