The way my day has gone, there is no need for April fools jokes. I had a student go into labor in my class. You can't make up stuff that happens when you teach.

Thanks for starting the April thread!

My first weigh in is Friday, I hope it'll be a good start of the month. And Mathteacher, maybe you'll get the bad stuff out of the way at the beginning of the month, and then you'll have a great rest of April

Desert-Rose7 04-01-2009 04:03 PM

mathteacher~ Whoa! What a beginning to April! My grandson's birthday is April 1st as well!

April is going to be great. Spring Break is 6 school days away and I will be cruising in 9 days. Hoping for another a good week this week before I go.

CurleyQ 04-01-2009 05:08 PM

So I am almost through week 2 and I know I am only beginning, but this program just seems "right" for me. It is also positively affecting other areas of my life. It seems like I am getting into a really good routine every night of planning my menu for the next day, getting my kids stuff ready for the next day, my thoughts are more clear. I have tons more energy but at the same time I am more relaxed than I have been in a long time. I have done a lot of research about "sugar addiction" and I am pretty sure that was (and always will be) my problem. In the past I have lost weight and then felt like I could eat even just a little of the foods I used to enjoy, but the reality is that I will need to forever be very careful about what I eat. I just know deep down that I will be successful on this plan and will use it as the foundation for my future eating habits.

Thanks for letting me get that out there. Feel free to share how your own life is changing on this plan.

I started today, and I'm glad for this forum. I have gotten in my 500 calories for the day and drank a ton of water with lemon, but I have to admit i'm SUPER hungry. I did both shots and they started me on 1/2 a pill 3x a day, but it hasn't made a dent. I don't know how i'll sleep tonight, i'm starving!! I hope it subsides a little more each day, because from all i've read i wasn't expecting to be this hungry!! Did this happen to anyone else?? Thanks!!

Get the chicken broth. That will help you a lot. Also it helps me to drink 16 oz of water right before I eat a meal. I am also finding that I am savoring my food. Those little Laughing Cow Cheese Wedges, I take at least 5 bites to finish LOL!!

Good luck and hang in there. In a couple of days you will be in ketosis and everything will be much better!

Swrach 04-01-2009 06:40 PM

Hi all, i've been absent while having a few tough weeks- gained 3.1 lbs-- UGH!! BUT I am back on track now and will do better than ever I am sure.
Went to the clinic today and am "re-starting" if you will - counselor was great there today, she really helped me get my mind back to where it needs to be.
Thanks for the support

home safe and sound!

Rhonda~keep on keepin' on, girl! You are on your way!

Way to go Troy! Good results! Weight loss the first week is usually the highest, and can go anywhere from 1-5 lbs per week from there depending on the individual, the amount of exercise and other personal factors. Great start!

Hi Troy!

Congrats on being a lighter you! My clinic says that 3 to 4 pounds a week are considered good progress. Now you are into the easier part and getting used to your new WOE. Keep exercising and drinking a lot of water.

Wow, it is amazing what happens in the classroom today. I was a high school chemistry teacher for 9 years while my kids were little. I have gone back to the telecommunications industry where my roots are so to speak. But over those 9 years it was just getting harder to deal with some kids. The problems they deal with at home and just the general lack of respect for everyone, not just adults. You are an awesome person. Everyone should walk in a teacher's shoes just once....

But anyway have a GREAT springbreak you so deserve it!!!!!

I so totally agree with you. I did Atkins 10 years ago and lost 80 pounds. I quit to go on vacation for 2 weeks and never went back. At that time I was only 15 pounds from my goal. So here I am needing to lose almost double that. But like you said, deep down I KNOW I am going to make it this time. It is just different for some reason.

Thanks for sharing.

crobyninc 04-02-2009 05:47 AM

I posted this on another thread, but it is so funny I wanted to share here as well.

Yesterday April Fool's Day, my husband wanted to play a joke on my daugther (the whole family is weighing everyday now). Anyway he put in her user mode and hopped on the scale so it would show his weight and not hers (He is 6'4 and 280lbs, she is 5'7 and 125lbs). The scale blinked twice and went to "ERR". So he got off, turned it off, then tried to just weigh without using a user mode and still got an ERR. HE BROKE THE SCALE - LOL.

That was a Hometics scale, we now have the Tanita which is better I must say.

Anyway my son just bought a new truck and is being very anal about. So being the April Fooler that he is my husband was going to move it to a neighbors house so the truck would not be in the driveway when our son would come out in the morning, but my husband decided the scale incident was enough April Fooling for the day!!!!!

My husband had me giggling about his April Fool's jokes gone bad all day!!!!

Thanks Rhonda, Orlando2002 and Robyn,

It is good to be back and sleeping in my own bed. My trip was great. Everyone thought I looked great and kept complimenting me. They noticed right away. My father-in-law kept saying how proud he was of me. It was a great motivator. I get to do it all again in 2 weeks when I go to Baltimore for a wedding. I will see my two skinny sisters for the first time since losing nearly 50 pounds. One of my sisters knows, but the other one does not. I can't wait. Now I'm one of them!

I tried to be so careful eating at restaurants every single meal for the last 5 days. I stuck to salads, grilled vegetables, fish, chicken and lean beef. I had them put all the sauces on the side. We tried to only eat 2 meals a day at restaurants. For the other meal I packed beef jerky, almonds and power pops. I made sure to get my water in. So how did I do? According to my scale this morning I am the same as when I left and I am happy with that. I will go to the clinic tomorrow for an official weigh-in.

McBoo, I hope you have a speedy recovery. It is no fun to be down like that. You sure have had your share of obstacles, but it doesn't seem to get in your way. Get well soon. We miss you!

Jon, sorry to hear of your injury, but glad you are better now.

It's hard to keep up with all the losses. Congrats to all!!!

:welcome: to all the newbies. Be prepared to buy new clothes because this plan works!

Hi all - newbie here. Have my first appointment later today and am nervous but VERY EXCITED to get started!

Cutting carbs is the only WOE that has ever helped me drop weight, so I know this will work for me. This go-round I have dropped 45 pounds through diet and working out in the gym with a trainer, but I have stalled at 182 and the scale just will not budge any further... I honestly think it's stress. I stumbled onto the LCF forums and started lurking about a month ago, just reading and absorbing info, and that's how I found you good people and MWL. Called a couple of weeks ago and made my appointment for today. Almost had to cancel/postpone due to $ issues (just changed jobs a month ago and am struggling to work out the budgeting kinks dealing with the cut in pay), but I know I need to deal with the weight issue that's had me depressed for so long... if I let the money issue depress me even further, then I'll really be in a hole emotionally. I decided to cut other corners to deal with and control what I know I need to and can control NOW, and worry about the other issues when this one falls into place.

So glad to be here with you and absorb all the good information, experience, and fellowship.
