Hey Rhonda,i think some people get jelious. My husband and the girls i work with are great, at telling me that they can see a big differance, but my own sister who used to see me all the time, but do to my new work schedule i hadnt seen her iin a month. That month i lost 20lbs and she didnt say anything. The week after seeing her my mom said that my sis had lost 8lbs that week. I said to my mom why did she decide to diet now? and my mom said that she told my mom that she could not belive how much of a differance 20lbs had made on me. My own sister couldnt even tell me that her self. That really hurt, so with that said let me say this. We have to do it for ourself and who cares what other people say and think.just know that you are doing it and we are HERE for all the same reason.Youll always have the supportfrom the medi crew.Iam really happy that i found this site. You guys gave me so much good advice. I dont think i could have or would have even stuck to this if i didnt find this site.so thank you guys

wii fit

Good Morning all newbies and vets

We just purchased the Wii Fit and happy to report that my Wii Fit age matches my actual age. Although my BMI is still rated overweight, it doesn't acct for BF % or FFM. I wanted to share our experience with it and anybody out there that has a Wii this is a must have. I still don't think it should replace weights, but the cardio exercise will get your heart rate up.

*reading past post it is really great to hear everyone's motivation and strong will to be successful on the program. It truly is the best weightloss system that you can live with.

MCBOO...so glad to see that you are doing better. If you are every in our part of Fla, send me a message. We would love to meet you up here in Gainesville.

Mark~
I have thought about the Wii fit, but in the meantime I have the Dancing With the Stars workout CD..and that one too gets the heartrate right up there. I have some REALLY old videos that I use too...Callanetics and the original Buns of Steel (very hokey patter but great exercise). Have to look to see if anyone has these on CD...tapes are SOOOOO old.

Note to susan1234~Yes, it is true. Men and women do lose weight at different rates.

I missed you all!!!

I got back from the conference at 8pm last night. Since someone asked the question of how they manage meetings/ conferences I thought I would share how I handled it. I worked 10 hour days and food was delivered everyday for breakfast and lunch.

I wasn't sure what kind of food would be available, so I packed a bunch of medi compliant snacks to help me stay on plan and I did! I even brought miracle noodles which I prepared in the bathroom sink with hot water. They were great. I also brought the 100 calorie packs of beef jerky, 100 calorie almond packs, and power pops. They helped me get through when I was tired, hungry and weak to temptation.

I arrived in West Palm Beach at 6pm Saturday night. I was supposed to meet my boss for dinner at 7:30pm. I had a very small lunch as I was rushing around trying to get ready, so by the time I got to the hotel I was starving. So, I made a package of miracle noodles in the sink. At the restaurant (Legal Seafood) I ordered a stir fry with scallops and a side dinner salad. I asked them to put the sauce and the dressing on the side and go light on the oil. They did and it was delicious. I drank ice water with my meal.

The next morning I had a spinach and egg white frittata at the hotel. Lunch was a southwest salad from McDonald's, dressing on the side. Dinner was appetizers at the reception. I had a couple terriyaki beef skewers and some vegetables, but it was not enough, so when I went back to my room I made some.... you guessed it, miracle noodles and had a package of beef jerky. I had a package of cocoa almonds for dessert.

The next morning I had to be at the registration desk by 6:30am. Breakfast was brought in.... danishes, muffins, sweet breads and fresh fruit. I had some of the fruit, then around 10am had a package of beef jerky. Lunch was a grilled chicken breast and side salad. For dinner I had a steak salad with gorgonzola cheese, dressing on the side. I had a package of cocoa almonds for dessert.

Yesterday for breakfast I had scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, salmon and a side salad for lunch, and a southwest salad from McDonalds on the way home from WPB. I allowed myself to have 1 power pop per day and I drank water all day long.

I probably had too many vegetables, but I don't think anybody ever got fat eating lettuce. My official weigh-in is tomorrow, but based on my scale I am down about 1 pound, which I will be happy with considering all the traveling and eating out. Everyone I work with has been extremely helpful and supportive.

Friday morning I am off to Baltimore for a wedding and to see my sisters. I will return Sunday night and will stay put for a while.

Congrats to all the losers this week!

Susie

P.S. McBoo, I am so glad you are back and recovering. Please take it easy and listen to your doctors and you will be back to your routine in no time.

Week 2 weigh-in today. Excited and worried at the same time.

I learned earlier this week that if I even LOOK at a carb-bearing veggie, I get kicked straight out of Ketosis. So, I pretty-much reverted to week one plan for the 2nd part of the week.

Wonder what the scales gonna say...Hope I didn't gain.

Anybody have suggestions for carb hypersensitivity?

Troy

Troy~
Are you sticking to the list of allowed veggies? I have had no issues as long as I stay
with the list. Ask your counselors, too, about this.

Yes, Jo.

Strictly. No Cheating. In fact, there are only three on the approeved list that I like.

It was the Brussels Sprouts that got me, I think. And that's too bad. Probably my favorite veggie of all.

Troy, do you like Collard Greens? If you like brussels, you may like collards ....

I put some collards, chopped, with some chopped onion, green peppers, red peppers and 2 tablesponds of water with a teaspoon of boullion chicken ... let it simmer until the greens are soft.

it is great and easy to make ...

I can totally understand...a lot on the list are on my "yucky" list, broccoli and brussels sprouts among them...along with cauliflower....so I stay with green/wax beans, my dark salad greens, water chestnuts, celery, radishes, snow pea pods, raw spinach, summer squash and a turnip or two!

2nd weigh-in is complete. Total loss of 2.6lbs for a total of 14.1 lbs in two weeks.

Not really happy with this weeks result, but, I guess its better tha a poke in the eye. 7.9 pounds of fat loss, FFM increased by 4.6 lbs and TBW increased 3.3 lbs. Dont really understand the relationships between those numbers yet, but the clinic says not to worry.

I'm new here...on my first day!

Hello! I'm so happy to have found this message board, because I am kinda confused about what I can and cannot have in the first week. I looked through my paperwork, and in one place it says string cheese, but in another section, it said only meat and cottage cheese...Can I have the string cheese?
Also... I am not on the appetite suppressants, and didn't feel real hungry today, but I did feel weak/dizzy around 5pm (by that time I had 400 of my 500cal and almost all of my water)...
any thoughts about how to get through the end of the day?

Thank you all so much!!!

Good Morning All

Congratulations to all the weekly losers this week! Everyone is doing so good!!

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and stays on plan. Just remember how great it feels when you step on that scale and the numbers are going down when you are tempted by that fattening easter candy.

Good luck to all!

Hi all..I'm here getting info as well. I'd never heard of the MWL program until I got a flyer in the mail this week. I live in Dallas suburbs so I'll be going to the one in Flower Mound, TX. CattyCat, I'm in the same boat...I weigh a lil more the last time I checked, but I've been working extra hard and not losing anything. It's so frustrating to see the same number over and over even though I'm working harder and harder. I haven't signed up yet but I plan to...I guess I'm still researching. And budgeting. I gotta get the money together and work this into my budget.

Can anyone tell me what a typical day's menu looks like?

question still about string cheese in first week

hey everyone... still trying to find out about string cheese in first week...is it allowed?
its only 9:30am day two and i've had 100 cal so far lots of water and coffee...feeling very tired- little motivation and worried if I can do this for a whole week. I have a toddler and am so worried I'm going to pass out, or not be able to keep up with him...
i think i'm focusing on the thought that "it's only day two and I already feel weak...and it's supposed to get worse in a couple of days, how am I going to do this"...
any encouragement???

check out the thread for newbies. Please be careful with your hydration and since you have less than 30 pounds to loose maybe you should not cut your calories quite as low.Stay away from carbs so you will go into ketosis. Warm broth helps the first week and eating small amounts of protein often also helps. Power ade zero is good to help keep you from getting dizzy. Eat lite sting cheese if you like it and make sure your protein choices have the most protein grams for the calories. I hope this helps you.
Sherrie

Welcome, Jenny! I am not sure about the string cheese. I stayed away from cheese the first week except for cottage cheese which was on my list. But you can call your local office and see what they say. Personally, I felt lousy in my first two days but by day three I felt much better and have felt great since. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. Definitely check out the Newbie week 1 thread for great suggestions on how to get through the next few days. I also have a toddler, plus a newborn, and was initially concerned, but it all worked out fine. Good Luck and hang in there.

Great job Susie
and to all the other losers this week.

McBoo

I will try to post more often but I am trying to get caught up from being out of work. Treadmill is still boring but I have decided it is better than nothing. Slowly building up the time and incline. I may try to run a little today when I go and see how it feels.

Good luck to all.

McBoo

P.S. Susie your new pic looks great.

thank you!

Thanks... I think part of my problem is the games my mind is playing...I'm trying to be positive "i can do this" but the lingering insecurity is there telling me that I can't and to quit...

anyone else have this "battle"?
For me it was just being tired of every New Year's having a goal to lose weight and then losing some and then gaining back when I became a little complacent. I have a 3yr old and a 6month old and I am determined that I will teach them good habits. It's funny how I will make sure that my kids eat healthy, but somehow never thought I was worth making the effort. Well, I finally got tired of not liking what I see when I look in the mirror and decided to get started. I just pushed away my doubts that always sabbotage me and got moving. So here I am 3 weeks into the program and feeling better than I have in a long time and for the first time feeling like my goals are actually in sight. Stay on the board for motivation and just ignore those old insecurities. Remember that this is not a diet. It is a journey to changing your eating habits for the rest of your life and you CAN do it!
