Starting Medi Weightloss Tomorrow ... And Feeling Kinda Sad

Greetings, Everyone -

I visited the Medi Weightloss clinic earlier today, talked with the doctor, got my shots, got my prescription meds and vitamins ... and I start tomorrow.

I actually feel a little sad about this.

I feel sad because I am not going to have birthday cake for my birthday this Saturday. I feel sad because I am giving up the very foods that I feel are contributing to my weight gain. I feel sad because I believe this is my one last attempt before I start researching surgery, and I don't really want surgery.

DH and I had a baby 7 months ago. We were pregnant with boy / girl twins and at 32 weeks, the doctor could not detect the boy's heartbeat. The girl was forced to be born via C-section 8 weeks early and spent 4 weeks in NICU. She is doing REALLY great now, but I am still saddened and emotional by the event. I started crying at the office today with the doctor when she started to ask questions about my pregnancy and whether I'm ready to pursue this. I responded that I am, because I needed to do this for myself and I needed to be healthy for my daughter.

*sigh*
I will probably need a lot of support and I'm pretty certain I came to the right place

Thanks for listening.

Don't feel sad-- feel great that you care enough about yourself and your daughter to do somethign that will make you healthy and happy!!! I have been in very similar shoes, i lost 3 babies in between my kids births and spent years drowning my sorrows in food and becoming obese... but this works, and i'm on my way to much smaller jeans!!!!!! I don't feel bad, i feel great!!! when i get sad i look at my beautiful kids and realize that this keeps me alive for them-- It will keep you alive for your daughter and your fabulous hubby--and if you need a reminder as to why you are here and why this is great for you, just ask, i'm sure we'll all be willing to give you one!!! Congrats on starting!!!!

I have been on Medi for 4 1/2 weeks and tomorrow is my birthday. I can actually say I am looking forward to not having birthday cake even though I was told to treat myself. I have lost 18 pounds so far. I am 100 percent for doing this for your daughter. I have two boys and they are the reason I am working to become a healthier. I feel so much better than I did 4 1/2 weeks ago. The group on this sight is great.

I started Medi a week before Thanksgiving and stuck to it all through the holidays. It was the best decision I ever made. Instead of gaining the average 7-9 pounds over the holidays I lost 25 pounds in the first month, 10 pounds in the first week. It felt so good to be in control and the 25 pounds meant so much more to me than cookies, cake or ice cream could ever taste. I am now 43 pounds lighter and I feel fabulous. I don't miss the junk and feel like I'm tasting the real flavors in food for the first time. I make a lot of the recipes in the recipe thread and I can honestly say I don't feel the least bit deprived. Please read the newbie thread as there are a lot of helpful tips. Once you see the weight start to drop you will no longer feel sad. You are worth it and you and your daughter deserve a healthy long active life.

I'm sad too

i just started medi yesterday and I'm sad that I can't have cake for my birthday tomorrow. I'm sad because i can't control myself when it comes to food. I'm sad that I'm not "normal" and can't eat that stupid piece of cake without going crazy.

I don't feel all that great today- kind of weak + spacey......BUT!!!! I feel good that I am taking control. I hope that food will become something that I can enjoy AND control......

anyhoo- you're not alone, sister!!!! we can do it!!!!!

Congrats on your beautiful daughter...she deserves a healthy mom & so does my daughter!!!

Don't be sad. Once you complete week 1 there are all sorts of yummy things you can have. You just have to plan, find the ingredients and be adventureous. In the recipe thread, Medi Weight Loss Recipes, there are recipes for pancakes, cheesecake, lasagna, quesadillas, pizza,... and the list goes on. My whole family is eating this way (since I'm the one who prepares the food) and they are loving it. My husband has lost 10 pounds and has complimented me on just about everything I've made. Hang in there. You will do great.
