Newbie

Hi,my name is Cindy,and,yes, I am a lurker
I started week 1 on Friday but decided to wait until you started the new thread for March to post anything.
I hit ketosis on day 2...I'm an RN so you know how nosy we can be.
All of your input in here has been so helpful! I already checked out the newbie thread and I appreciate all the help!
My scales say I've already lost 7lbs but going to wait until Thursday-my first weigh-in-before I get too excited
I'm looking forward to losing this extra person I been carrying around
All of your awesome results have inspired me and make me believe that I can be successful on MWL

Cindy,

You didn't need to be a lurker until the new thread was started. We are all a very friendly bunch and don't mind sharing our experiences with the plan. We have a great support system here and it only gets stronger as more people join in and share there experiences.

Good luck to you on your weight loss journey. You have chosen a plan that really works.

try not to weigh yourself until you go to weigh in- it is hard I know but best if you don't
Good luck I know you'll do great!

Well, not so good of a weekend....Friday and Sunday were good but 3700 calories and 121 carbs on Saturday marks the first time I have "cheated" since January 5th. Didn't work out Friday or Saturday. Felt like doggie doodoo Sunday morning but dove right back into it by exercising and taking in 980 calories and 3 carbs. I guess cheating once every 53 days is acceptable but still not happy with it.

Hi all! I've been doing Medi since Nov 4 but just found this site Friday after the staff at the clinic mentioned it. I started at 251.4. My goal for my 5'5" body is 140. At present, I'm 198. I was 197 the week before but...had a rough week. Had lost 1.5 in fat but gained 2.5 in water. I've had a partial hysterectomy so I don't menstruate but all the signs were there that it would have been TOM.
Usually I weigh here daily but go by my clinic weight for the gain/loss calculations. I retain water when I work so I like to kinda see where I am. I am a RN and work every weekend, 12 hr shifts. My water retention is better than it used to be but still happens. So...I try to go to weigh in later in the week, once it's gone.
I've lost 54.4 lbs, with 57 more to go. I started wearing a comfy size 24, now I'm in a lose 18. I have some emotional baggage I've been carrying for years (which I think caused me to gain) so I've just started counseling. I don't want to lose only to gain it all back because the issues are there and unresolved.
I hate veggies and am not much on fruit. The meat/cheese routine works well for me. I have a HOORible sweet tooth though and struggle with that. And I eat a sweet treat, I have difficulty not eating it all til it's gone. I know I need to acquire a more veggie friendly way of eating, but I've not been successul with it. I'll keep trying though.
I'm looking forward to posting/reading. Since I got to the 50 on area, I've been struggling terribly. They tell me that it gets bad there. It has been for me anyway, but I've had a whole lot overwhelming too so I know that's not helped either.
So...I'm not new to MWL but new here and new to finding helpful info somewhere other than the clinic. Looking forward to being here!

I must confess

I have been bad since Friday evening dinner. Went out with my girlfriend on Friday evening and had bread, a half of a calzone with salad (so that was good) LOL and shared a piece of chocolate cake. Oh and two glasses of wine. Ok forgive and forget right. Well Saturday came and cleaned the house and was on plan only protein and then came the night it's like a demon that comes over me and tells me to eat everything. Saturday done. Sunday didn't go out stayed home preparing for the blizzard, ate my eggbeaters in the morning and had 3 oz hamburger and again then came the evening and again I went off my rocker. I am embarrassed but know that if I write this on the thread maybe someone can knock some sanity in into me.
Today I had a EAS shake for breakfast and I am going to drink water like crazy I weighed in Wednesday at 183.2 and now my scale is telling me at home I am 188.0  what am I to do? weigh in is Wednesday and I don't think I can lose 5 lbs plus in 2 days. Or should I change my appointment I really can't stand when I do this. HELP!!!!

roev, you've admitted it here and you can admit it there too. Don't change your appt to make a reading on a machine look better. Know in your head you had a bad few days, get back on track today, and be pleased NEXT week when you go and you've done better. And with all the sodium in some of those foods, it may be lots of water only, in which case that will come off quickly.
It happens, it's over. Now deal with it head on!! And good luck.

Roev~the cool thing is that you know what you did and you are working to remedy it.

I think I mentioned before that my clinic has something called Power Pops. They have like 28 calories and come in lots of flavors. I use those when I get the creepy cravings in the evening. Just sucking them or licking on them really helps. Plus I do not have anything in my house that I cannot have. I guess there is some wierd diet out there that uses the Power Pops, but my clinic only suggests them for times when you crave something "naughty".

Hang in there, you are going to be just fine!

My problem is that I am in menopause but my body and mind aren't in sync with each other and the cravings are from TOM because (sorry guys) my one ovary (that I have left) was killing me and it is the TOM that I usually get it. My periods take a vacation and come back whenever it wants. The clinic that I go to never offered the power pops so I don't think they have it. What is in it. I found them online. Do they have hoodia in them.

Hi everyone! I am pretty new on MEDI, about 4 weeks and have lost 16 lbs. I just found this forum and it has been so incredibly helpful. Thank you for all your suggestions and encouragemet.

I was wondering if anyone has found a way to lower the cost of the MEDI program. i.e. still having success (of course, that's the most important thing) with only going into the clinic every other week, or finding comparable alternative supplements of the fat burners, multi vitamins, etc. at the health food store that may be less costly than the MEDI Clinic products. Any suggestions would be very welcomed and tremendously helpful.

I also wanted to share one of my favorite recipes. This is to satisfy that sweet tooth that I get all to often and it is sooooooooo yummy!

1/2 cup Fage Greek Yogurt 0% fat
1-2 pkg Stevia
1/2 scoop Isopure Zero Carb protein powder
(Pineapple, Orange, Banana PP tastes like an Orange Creamsicle)
(Chocolate PP tastes like a Fudgesicle)
Add water to desired consistency

Calories 112, Fat 0, Carb 4.5, Protein 22

Cindy and Crisrn2003!

Rhonda,
Maybe you need to come up with some late night strategies for when that demon hits. Could you take up an activity and busy yourself like go for a walk or crochet while you are watching TV? Maybe you need to have some Medi friendly snacks ready. Are you letting yourself get too hungry? Just some thoughts.

Over the last month I had stopped getting the midweek shot. I just kept forgetting. My weightloss slowed down to 1 pound per week. I started back with the midweek shots last week and I don't know if it is coincidence, but I lost 3.8 pounds this week. The only thing I did different was the shot. My total loss now is 43 pounds and I feel amazing!

Keep your appointment and just let them know what you did. Make sure you get in all your water. You know what you have to do. GET BACK ON PLAN!!

You will make up for it this week. Good luck.

For me, I have never done the mid week shot basically because it is about
a 90 mile round trip to the clinic. So I just rely on the one on my weigh in day. And I have been losing consistently since day 1. So I cannot say whether it makes a difference or not. And I only do the MIC shot. I take tbe B6/B12 as supplements and they seem to work quite well. However, to each his/her own. Stay with whatever works for you! I have lost a total of 41 lbs since 19Dec09, so I am right on track with
where I need to be.

Rhonda~yes they do have hoodia in them, not a lot but some. If you wish, I can send a couple on to you if you would like to try them. I like the Root Beer float and Pina Colada flavors! I usually pick up about 4 each week and they last a couple days each. And they definitely make the creepy cravings go away. I am fortunate in that I live by myself currently so I just make a point not to have any of the "naughty" stuff in the house. Makes that part easier for me. I did think seriously one evening of walking to the store to buy some red licorice, then I thought about it, and decided it just was not worth it!

Hang in there!

Jo

Thank you

To Crisrn, Jo, Susie and McBoo,

Thank you for all your words of support and encouragement, I really needed it. I am better now and know what I have to do and I will go Wednesday no matter what. Everyone is right with telling me I know what I have to do and now I must step up and do it. Jan. 1st was the first day of my new eatting life and I have lost 24.8 lbs since that date and never gained. I really love hearing that I am looking wonderful at work and I have two things to look forward to a reunion at the end of the month with friends from high school, and going to see my parents in April (they are always complaining about my weight). I want to do this for me and have to stop beating myself up about making bad choices.
I will see if they have the power pops in my clinic if not I am sure I can buy them online. Thanks again love all of you , Rhonda

Thanks all for the warm welcome!
Sherrie, I go to the one in Fairhope. They'd only opened the week before I started going.

Rhonda~
Take a look for the pops on ebay too. I found some there...usually they run about 30.00 for 30 (assorted), also check your local Hi-Health, and Vitamin Shop - if they have those stores near you. I checked GNC today and they do not have them but recommended those two places.

The compliments will keep on coming! Trust me on that one!

Jo
