Weigh in today another 4 lbs gone.
I was surprised because I had a dinner last night. Ate alright, Salad with fresh shrimp, about 15 of them. The surprise was I drank almost a bottle of wine. Got up this am and went for a run before weight in. I am sure some of the loss was from dehydration from alcohol. I taking the 4 lbs, I don't care what it is from. I have another big shin dig tonight and I will not drink so much (maybe)...

OK so I am about to have a semi break down. I have not had wine for 3 weeks and I use to have 1-2 glasses 6 nights a week... so three weeks is a long time. I just want to let loose for 1 night and then get "real" serious again in the morning. I did not lose any weight this week- I am 200 pounds (I did see 199 during the week but now I am back to 200). Actually my water weight increased 4 pounds and my fat pounds went down by four pounds. Anyway - maybe just not drinking enough water?! (thought that I did) I did work out wed/thur/fri and ate a bunch of miracle noodles (which kinda made me feel bloated). I love the noodles but I felt bloated- hmmm... anyway I worked so hard this week and I am ready for 1 night off. 3weeks on the program down 10 pounds, 8 of the pounds are fat.

This is just my opinion.
If the wine is that important to you, have it.
For me, I have to make this work into my life. Dinner with friends last nite, yes I had some wine. Probably tonight too, then it will probably be a while til the next glass, just as it was before I started MWL. I am okay if it shows up on the scale. My choice. I have to make this WOL fit into my life. I know I probably should wait until I am at or close to goal.

I hear ya, I want to make it work. It's important for me to be able to let myself have an evening where I can have a little flexibility. I can stay the course and treat myself every once in awhile. I wanted to get to 195 before allowing myself some vino but this week I did not lose - I actually gaining 4 pounds of water... Thanks Jill

JROOTA,

I have been having wine on a regular basis and it has not affected my weight loss. I am down 43 pounds since November 20th. On the nights I have wine I am very careful about what I eat during the day so that the wine does not make me go over my calorie count and I don't let the wine lead to late night eating. I save calories for wine by having the noodles as one of my meals. I try to limit the wine to weekends only.

As for the noodles, I love them too. They will expand in your stomach, so that is probably why you feel bloated. I think I read in an earlier blog that you had 3 bags. I have read from others, and I don't know if this is true or not, but since they expand in your stomach, if you have too many they can increase your appetitite. Does anyone else know if this is true? I usually have a bag around 4pm when I'm starting to get hungry for dinner, but my husband isn't home yet. This works really well, because they give me a satisfying feeling so that when I do make dinner I don't pick as I'm cooking, then I don't eat as much for dinner.

Enjoy your wine! I'm going to have a glass or 2 tonight. Cheers!

Susie

Someone was asking about medical restrictions, so I wanted to share a bit of info. When I began this program, my cholesterol was 235 (200 is the highest in the normal range), my LDL's (Low density lipids, aka "bad cholesterol" which should be about 100 for a female) was 162, and my fasting glucose was 105 (putting me in the pre-diabetic category.) I am terrified of needles. I am a nurse and will stick people all day long, but I hate being on the receiving end. I know that if I become diabetic, there is a good chance I will be non-compliant. I have taken care of diabetic patients and know first hand how bad this disease can be. In addition, I have taken care of open heart patients for about 4 years and know how awful that is too. It all combined to scare me into coming to MWL.
After 12 weeks on the program, my labs were repeated. My cholesterol dropped 95 pts to 140; my LDL's went from 162 to 87; and my glucose dropped from 105 to 84.
I was "morbidly obese" according to my BMI. I am out of that category and almost out of the "obese" category. My waistline has dropped to 33.5 in. which decreases my risk of heart disease significantly. I have lost 60.2 lbs total since the beginning of November and have another 51.2 lbs to go. I was about this weight 2 yrs. and 3 months ago, but fell off the wagon with weight watchers and gained it all back.
I am trying to pay close attention to my emotional health, and to what got me to this point in the first place. Do I eat because I'm truly hungry? Or am I lonley, bored, sad, angry, stressed? Do I really want to put that in my mouth knowing that it affects my health, that I will have to spend more time on the exercise equipment because of it. Sometimes, I'm much better about it that others. Sometimes, the craving feels like such a physical demand that I am powerless to control it. And sometimes, I put it in my mouth out of habit without even thinking about it. I'm also making an attempt to savor the food. I mean, the chocolate chip cookie is tasty, but am I really enjoying it after the 2nd or 3rd bite? If not, why finish it?
I'm trying to get rid of the "fat clothes" as I go, so that I will have nothing to go back to. I am a bit sad to get rid of things I really like, but I remind myself, there will be other clothes I will like in smaller sizes.
We are going on a cruise in April. I will not be down to goal by then, but I am giving myself permission to take that week off and enjoy those foods I've not been eating, like pizza and pasta. But I am also planning to keep drinking my water, and to visit the gym on the ship. I also want to continue to eat more protein and less carbs. We'll see how it goes.
I have learned lots about exercise and nutrition during this short journey. And it really is short, if you think about how many days I've spent in my life with this program vs. without. Sometimes, it's easy to lose site of this. And I am an instant gratification person. I like results and I want them yesterday. But, that's not what this is about. Not now, and not in the future when I maintain this WOE/WOL.
I hope we can all continue to support each other. And, spend some time considering what got you here in the first place. Perhaps, if we can fix our demons, they won't come back to haunt us ever again.
Good luck all!

Well, I went to doctor today and blood sugar was low. I was told b/c of that and some other things they saw, to have some carbs this weekend and lower the protein. To get a complete fasting bloodwork on Monday, and follow up with them Tuesday. Also to call the clinic Monday and ask to set up an appt. with the actual doctor not just a counselor and explain what's been going on. I was also told to lay off the meds...but I have no apetite anyway so that's not a porblem right now. I'll keep you all posted.

I am a lurker, post every now & then. I have been having difficulties sticking to the plan as of lately. My husband who normally travels alot has been home a lot and ot has been hard to stick to my plan ( I know-weak!)

I really need to just get back on the wagon and stick to the plan. The cost of MWL is getting to be a bit too much. Any suggestions for someone who knows what they need to do, but trying to get there quicker. More exercise?

Thank you Mcboo...I sometimes need to be reminded of that. It took time to put it on, so it will take time to get rid of it. Why can't we all be so young again when it was so much easier LOL

the guy at my gym said when you start a routine or really increase it, your body will hold on to water as a self preservation mechanism. It realizes there's a possible danger and works to put something "in storage.". It made sense to me because I know as a nurse and having seen this, when pts have surgery, they swell. He said in the gym, it lasts 3-4 weeks. And for that reason, people don't lose weight, get frustrated, and quit coming. Seemed pretty accurate for me. Took me about 4 weeks. I was losing fat but not much wt then I had a big loss.
So, hang in there! You may be surprised in a few weeks!

Thanks Susie- that helps :-) I had the noodles last night (just one pack). And by the time I had the fat burner and my Medi shots from the morning kicked in, I got a surge of energy. I cleaned the whole house. Then I decided to have 2 vodka-bubble water w/lime and crystal light. I fought the wine urge- but I think what made me feel the best... is that I said to myself- you can have some wine tonight just get the house cleaned up. Then I got moving and decided to have the low carb option- vodka. The only alcohol beverage I like is wine- other then that my interest is close to zero. The two drinks were nice to have while chatting with my neighbor while she sipped her wine. And let me say... she has lost 70 pounds since having her baby last May. That motivated me!

Crisrn- thank you for your advice, this makes sense... about the water weight. OK I am going to hang in there- stay the course... I am happy that I lost 4 pounds of fat, I will just have to wait until the 4 pounds of water go away (so I can finally see the scale move). Do you think it's important to up my water intake? the past 3 weeks I have had 96 oz. a day plus 3 green teas. Now I am going to aim for 128 oz

Stress is gone, but I am out of Ketosis. I drank 5 beers last night after all the work I out in this past week. Never should have done that, I am feeling it this morning. I am proud of myself because I ate what I should have, but the beer was my spurge this weekend. I weigh in tomorrow, I am excited to see how much I have lost. I have 34 days until I on a cruises ship. Hoping for another 15 to 20 by then.

I'm only on day 2...today has been trying! I must say the sucess stories and before and after pics are such an inspiration. I am thinking about taking a photo of myself now and keeping it on my cell phone for the weak moments...to remind myself how unhealthy and unhappy i am with my current physique.

I am keeping myself busy so i don't think about eating...

I had a hard time getting all of the calories in yesterday. I ate 2 servings of chicken breast last night to get up to 480. I've read in a lot of posts that it's important to get the 500 calories in.

I want this so bad...so I cannot let anything get in my way!

i'm back....

I am going to start the program again tomorrow without going to clinic for shots. I still have plenty of diet pills and fatburners and bought some sublingual b- 12, with b-6 and folic acid. I am hoping I can do the program without going to the clinic because I cannot afford it right now.

Has anyone here had success on their own? I have maintained pretty well, recently gained 6 lbs and started getting nervous....so i decided to get back on the wagon!

I just need to get through the first 3 days to hit ketosis...then I will be home free..

Good luck everyone, this website really helped me when I was hard core Medi!

I am in the same boat as you. Today is my new day 1. I am going to try to re-start without going to clinic too. I am going to stick hard to the plan and see how I do for weight loss. I have fat burners, but no more appetite suppressants so I will have to see how I do without those. I am going to try though. I know the plan works. I am up a few lbs and still need to lose. Hope we are successful. I am planning on trying for 1 week and see if my weight loss is equivalent to how it was when I was going to the clinic. If no-where near clinic weight loss, I may go back.

Thank you for the feedback..on my last weigh in all I lost was water weight. I am not too concerned about the weight on the scale but that I am losing body fat and my % is going down. Your right it does get frusturating when you are increasing activity staying on the plan then seeing the % go up not down. If it happens again they may need to increase my protein calories. Thank you

I chose Medi over several other clinics in my area because I wanted a successful program that would give me the tools to stay fit for the rest of my life. I need to do low carbs because of my blood sugar levels. The expense of Medi is not an issue because I would rather pay for weight loss than insulin!
I don't understand how people are having success at the other clinics without limiting their protein calories. Unless I limit my carbs and calories my body won't lose weight.
I'm so thankful for this support site and Medi Weight Loss!
By the way did mention my fasting blood sugar is down to 100!!

Congrats to you! It feels good to do something good. I am so hoping I can figure out a way around my issue that I am having. I love the people at my clinic and here. Everyone s so helpful and supportive. I am hoping this is a minor bump in the road and not a major issue.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Dani. I'm going on my 8th week with Medi and have lost 18 pounds! So excited I discovered this group.

Quick question: I'm a HUGE fan of Trader Joe's, and today while I was food shopping I came upon, Better 'N Peanut Butter. Anybody know anything about it? Would it be good for this diet to use as a snack?

Thanks for the help!

Not right off the top of my head, Dani, but I am headed to Trader Joe's tomorrow so I will check it out and see what it's all about and maybe then I can offer something up
for you.

Late night ck in.....I go for my first wigh in tomorrow. Crossing fingers I have accomplished what I set out to do and lose a few lbs.

McBoo and Teacher, I went to Skinny Pantry and you both were highly spoken of. She was out of the orzo and angel hair but I did pick up some lasagne noodles and the makings for McBoo's chicken.

Gypsy, I am attempting to do MWL or a very close version of it w/out going to the clinic. I am being supervised by my regular Dr though. I am doing the sublingual B-12 and most of the other vitamins.

I'll ck in tomorrow with results

I'm looking forward to posting/reading. Since I got to the 50 on area, I've been struggling terribly. They tell me that it gets bad there. It has been for me anyway, but I've had a whole lot overwhelming too so I know that's not helped either.
So...I'm not new to MWL but new here and new to finding helpful info somewhere other than the clinic. Looking forward to being here!
For sweet cravings, I've started getting a spoon of almond butter, I use the one that is only almonds, no suger added. It's expensive, but at a spoon at a time, it does last awhile, and seems to settle the sweet cravings I've had. I'm also not one for veggies, but have been craving salads lately.
