Hi Lorig-
I've asked this question to the people at the center and they really stand behind drinking enough water. They also suggested using sugar free fiber supplements. They weren't too thrilled about me adding flaxseed to the diet. I'm not sure why. The flaxseed had 10g of carbs and 9g of fiber per 3 tbsp. They felt it was too high carb. When I look at the bars they sell they have the same carbs and way less fiber, but they feel those are ok. I'm kind of confused, but still adding the flaxseed. So far I have been losing. I just make sure to keep the calories to no more than 600.

Would love to hear if anyone else has any information on this topic.
Thanks.
Robyn

One thing that helps me when grocery shopping is reading the labels like crazy. I am sure people must think I'm nuts, but that's ok. That is how I found Kroger's Carb Master yogurt. I love Yoplait Light ...but the carb/sugar is way too high. I gave away 10 of them when I began the plan. And have been hunting for a yogurt ever since. The Kroger one has a total of 80 calories/1.5g fat/5 mg cholesterol/100mg sodium/140 mg potassium/total carb 4g-1g fiber 3g sugar/protein 12g..and although there are not a lot of flavor options...they are all pretty good.

And I found Jarlsberg Lite swiss cheese slices at Trader Joe's that are 50 cal per slice and have 2.5 g of fat and 0 carbs with a total of 7g of protein. That is a real treat for me.

Sorry for going on and on.....just got pretty excited at finding some good choices along the way.

Jo
Hi Desert Rose-
Dannon makes a carb friendly yogurt. I've found it in vanilla and strawberry. It is actually really good. It says "Diabetic Friendly" (or something like that) on the pack. It comes in a 4 pack.

Also, Cabot makes a 75% fat free cheddar cheese that is really good. It's worth a try if you can find it.

Keep up the great work!

Medi Colon Cleanser works. I take 2 pills at night. Gentle and no added stomache gasses or bloating.

Thanks Robyn! I will look. There appears to be a lot of difference between what is available on the East coast and here in the Southwest. Some brands just are not out here. And we have nothing like Skinny Pantry out here. We do have a Whole Foods and I like that store along with Trader Joe's for real treasure hunting trips.

I try to stay between 500-600 calories a day, sometimes a little higher if I am walking more or exercising more. But I am pretty basic, not a lot of fancy cooking going on in my house. I steam my veggies and my microwave gets quite a work out these days.

I do have a hard time hitting the 128 of water. I include green tea and a couple of cups of coffee and a zero calorie Sobe Life Water into the mix to get there. Any ideas?

Okay, back to the job search for a few more hours.......

Hello All My Medi Friends! Sorry I have been so out of the loop lately, but all is well. Getting closer to the goal and thinking about moving it on down to 110 to give me some breathing room. Spring is coming and I am beyond ready to get out and get this body moving!

Welcome all the Newbies! What a great place to be - keep posting and reading. Lots of help and inspiration comes from this group of people.

Susie - A special thanks to you for reaching out and helping my Rhi! She loves you and so glad that she has you to help her.

Hi All

To all my friends at MWL, thanks for all your words of wisdom. I was really touched by how everyone cares about one another and you really helped me through this crazy weekend.
Went today to weigh in and I did gain but only 8oz. on the scale and 6oz of fat everything else stayed the same so I am thankful for that. The clinic was very nice and told me that I could be feeling like my TOM even though I am over that. Anyway back on track.

Lorig: at the clinic they told me to use peri-colace to regulate yourself and this med will not knock you out of ketosis. I bought it and yes it works. I take 4 pills at night and believe me one night is enough.LOL. I usually take it once a week just to feel better.

Welcome to all the newcomers
Pat don't give up, you can do it. Listen to everyone on the boards. Tell us what your eatting maybe we can help guide you with better choices. We all have down days and even weeks (look at me I was a mess) Please don't give up you will lose and then you will be doing the happy dance give it a shot.

With love to all,
Rhonda

Susan,

I met up with Rhi at our clinic the other day. What a beautiful young woman, you must be really proud. I am hoping one of these days we can meet up for lunch. She seems very busy.

Roev,

it is not about being bad! we all have our off days ( which can sometimes turn into weekends ) no one in the clinic should make you feel "bad" we are not just here for accountability but for support as well. Keep the appointment get back on track and in a day or two you will feel better about your decision.
Good luck

The Medi bars are actually only 5 grams of adjusted carbs, they shouldn't slow you down but make sure that you are keeping track of your total carb per day and checking for ketones every day. Good luck

Hi all, sorry I've MIA but been a busy week.
Had my first weigh-in today and.................
I lost 9.8 lbs!!! 6.0 lbs of it was fat!
I'm thrilled with the program and the support of the clinic I'm attend!!
They are sooooo supportive and encouraging. Got high-fives all the way around!
I'm still so thankful for the app suppressant. I know when I'm late taking a pill, my tummy starts rumbling immediately on the exact time
I get to start eating veges again tomorrow...I'm so happy! I didn't know that I could miss a salad sooo much. Made a salad for my hubby and sat there and stared at it while he ate it.
I'm also allowed to get back to the gym again, even though I'm overweight, I used to go 3 times a week. I'd been laying off a bit due to my back problem rearing it's ugly head.
Thanks for the advice about the chicken broth-what a lifesaver during those times when my stomach felt so empty.

Great job Cindy

That is a fantastic first week. Take it slow when you start back at the gym you don't want to try and do too much too soon and hurt yourself.

Enjoy your veggies; just make sure they are from the approved list for the acute phase.

Congratulations on your weight loss Cindy! You will be amazed at how good lettuce taste now!
Swarch, you did great losing 3.5 lbs! Good luck.
Lori, 9 lbs is wonderful! Maybe I should go less often

Could someone give me some suggestions for protein bars. I like the Medi cinnamon bars but not the chocolate. What are the best tasting ,lowest carb bars you have tried?

I love the Miracle Noodles!!

WOWZERS do I love those noodles... I just had 3 packs, now I am full! I love noodles in general (and have missed them being on Medi). Ahhh now I have something I can turn too. I also ordered the no sugar low card cheese cake, it will arrive next wednesday- I will let you know how it tastes. I FINALLY saw 199 on the scale today- WOW it's been 5 years since I have seen below 200. It's really motivating. Since starting medi Feb. 15th I have lost 11 pounds, 8 fat pounds- the truth be told I don't feel like I am "really missing" anything. My clothes are starting to get loose. YAY. My weigh in is this Saturday, I will report how it goes. Keep it up everyone.

Woohoo!!!!! WTG Phyllis,mathteacher,swrach,and Rhonda

Thanks so much for the support all of you

Thanks again for your advice McBoo, having someone in maintenance is so inspiring for all of us

I told my hubby the total for the week..never saw his eyebrows fly up so fast

As an added incentive, my blood pressure was down a bit as well as my heart rate. I'm sleeping better than I have in months too.
Not sure why that is but I'm enjoying it.

Medi Weightloss Followers rock!!

FRUSTRATED...help

Good evening fellow medi peeps Almost weekend time and I hope everyone has had a good week. Going by the posts, seems as though most have. I'm finally over the CRUD I have been hitting the gym since Tuesday at 4:30am and attempting to get back in shape, which I am soo proud of I am frustrated though, because I can't seem to get back into ketosis and I am having a TIME getting these last few pounds off I have been eating my regular items, but I did add some brussell sprouts with a few of my meals the last few days. I wonder if that has anything to do with not letting my body get back into ketosis zone. Any advice would be great, unless it's just what I think....cut out veggies for the next few days.

Have a good night, and welcome to all the newbies of MWL that I have not had a chance to get acquainted with

Nicole

I wonder if that has anything to do with not letting my body get back into ketosis zone. Any advice would be great, unless it's just what I think....cut out veggies for the next few days.

Have a good night, and welcome to all the newbies of MWL that I have not had a chance to get acquainted with

Sorry you have been sick Nocole. It is hard to follow any program when you feel like crud! Protein only should get you back into ketosis. Good luck!

WTG!!! And you're right...veggies will never taste as good as when you've been told NOT to eat them for a week.
