McBoo,
i agree about the water-- it just seems easier when i am on my "normal routine". usually by noon i have all my daily intake in, being home it seems much slower.

Hey all, stil down sick (hot so bad today ended up in hospital). Tried to go to urgent care, but that just got me an ambulance ride. Diagnois was pleurisy. Hurts so much to breathe (am asthmatic also). Was released late afternoon. I went in before I had anything to eat, and only a little to drink, and they wouldn't let me drink anything. Finally they brought me some ginger ale (so not on diet - I couldn't even drink it b/c it was so sweet). When I got home I had 5 saltine crackers to settle stomach and even they tasted funky to me. Guess this former carb addict is becoming reformed. Finally ate a piece of chicken tonight so I could take meds. That tasted better to me than anything (amazing). I am not starving myself...just NO appetite since everything is draining to my stomach. Didn't even take any pills today.

Suggestions on taking vitamins, calcium, etc. when sick???? Don't want to overdo my system. I'm assuming stil take calcium & vitamins, but no fat burners. Didn't take anything today though.

Hope everyone else is feeling better that was sick. I thought I was over the worst of it, and then it came back with a vengence this morning. Thought I was having a heart attack it hurt so bad to breathe. Taking tomorrow off, and hoping a day more of rest will help. For those other teachers out there (especially FL ones) you know how hard & stressful it is to be out right now - my kids have state testing next week. However I am taking everyone's advice and taking care of me first so I don't get worse.

Well Saturday came and cleaned the house and was on plan only protein and then came the night it's like a demon that comes over me and tells me to eat everything. Saturday done. Or should I change my appointment I really can't stand when I do this. HELP!!!!
When days like this happen ,it just reminds us of how much better we feel physically and mentally when we are on plan. Just start fresh again and put the weekend in the past. You can do it, we are all here for you.

Danielle,

Take care of yourself first. Worry about getting back on plan when you feel better. As far as supplements are concerned I would check with your pharmacist and DR. to make sure it is ok to take them. You don't want to have an adverse reaction.

Try to feel better.

Pat,

Are you doing the medi weighloss plan or some other low carb plan?

All low carb plans are not created the same. Please let us know which plan you are following so we can get you the help you may need.

Are you keeping your protein calories at 500? Also watch for hidden carbs! They are everywhere! I'm still learning what works for me and what keeps me from losing! Also try to chose the lower fat protein. Check this site daily for inspiration and advise and most of all DON'T GIVE UP!

Since I'm not feeling well, I'm just going to give a big WELCOME to all the newbies & a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all the losers this week! Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

McBoo- Thanks for your advice. Will call clinic today. Fortunately my nurse at the hospital yesterday had completed this plan with Dr. Bloy so she knew all about it. Her advice - lots of WATER!!! Go figure I also listed all the meds at the hospital and they didn't say not to take them, I just assumed that since I'm not eating much, probably don't want the fat burners too.

Just got back from my 2nd wk weigh in.. lost 2 pounds of fat, no water loss.. Is that good.? Can someone explain to me about fat vs water loss? I understand a little but i don't want to get discouraged.. I feel thinner but need some reassurance..

Congrats to everyone on the weight loss!

And welcome to all of the new members!

I, too, will be happy to be out of the 200s however it will be a little while yet. One little goal of mine is to be under 200 when I see my doc for my annual physical at the end of April. I think that is do-able.

One thing that helps me when grocery shopping is reading the labels like crazy. I am sure people must think I'm nuts, but that's ok. That is how I found Kroger's Carb Master yogurt. I love Yoplait Light ...but the carb/sugar is way too high. I gave away 10 of them when I began the plan. And have been hunting for a yogurt ever since. The Kroger one has a total of 80 calories/1.5g fat/5 mg cholesterol/100mg sodium/140 mg potassium/total carb 4g-1g fiber 3g sugar/protein 12g..and although there are not a lot of flavor options...they are all pretty good.

And I found Jarlsberg Lite swiss cheese slices at Trader Joe's that are 50 cal per slice and have 2.5 g of fat and 0 carbs with a total of 7g of protein. That is a real treat for me.

Sorry for going on and on.....just got pretty excited at finding some good choices along the way.

Jo

Question

I eat 700 cals of protein per day and 2 cups of veg (before being cooked). I drink 96 oz of water plus 3 green teas (fresh with nothing added). I really enjoy the medi bars 100 cal, 11grams of carbs. I eat them as a dessert so I can feel satisfied on the program. I have a feeling the bars might be standing in the way of me losing a little more... just a hunch. Has anyone experienced this?
