Susie

I made the turnip fries last night for dinner and the whole family loved them. I didn't tell them what they were until after they had tried them! It is amazing how good they taste! We loved them!

You should do a cookbook, it would be a hit!

I hope it is a good experience. Just a warning, if you have never done it before, your butt will be sore for about 2 weeks. You may want to pick up a padded seat (you can get those at Walmart or Kmart). After that it is great.

It is so funny about the recipes. Believe it or not, I have never been much of a cook, but since doing this plan it has become an obsession. Most of my recipes are recipes that I have found on the net and modified to be medi friendly. Some of them are from others who posted on this site. My new favorite is the last recipe I posted for the turnip fries. I made them today and seriously, I felt like I was eating french fries. You do need the ketsup though.

I am seriously thinking about putting together a medi cookbook. Keep up the good work.

Susie
Hi Susie, Yes I know about spin, I have been spinning for over 2 years, but I will never forget the sore butt days!I love spin, it is additive once you start, I missed it, but my foot surgery held me back for 3 months until it healed. I love to cook so your receipes have helped me so much because I was so unsure about what was acceptable and what was not. If you publish a book, I will be first in line to buy it!!

I went and had my first weigh in......lost 13 pds!!!!!!!!!! She added another appetite suppressent. I really hope that helps. I am going back to yoga, volleyball and training for my bike ride.

Ashley,

You will LOVE the Vineyard. I go all the time I will be there for 4 days in may for a 30 mile MS bike ride. The closest MEDI might be Plainville. They told me yesterday that they have been open 6 weeks and they have had 900 pds of loss so far!

Ok I know we are not suppose to do this but I weighed myself this morning to see how things were going --- And the results were bleak, only 1/2 pound down from my weigh in on Monday afternoon.

This is my third week and I have a bunch of weight to drop, so I would expect to see a couple of pounds or more still at this point. I have not cheated, drinking over a gallon of water a day, not using artificial sweeteners and I am walking 45 minutes everyday. Here is my calorie counts for the week so far:

Day Calories Carbs Fat Calories Burned
Monday 546 25 36 423
Tuesday 562 11 24 423
Wednesday 416 17 15 423
Thursday 509 17 28 423
Friday 443* 24 13 423 *Planned

I also added about 20 minutes of toning exercises with a 10lb band for upper body toning each day.

So my question is: Am I eating too many carbs or fat? I have added Unsweetened Amond Breeze and 2 veggies to my daily intake this week. But everything else is about the same.

Again the blog is wonderful and the support provided is unmeasurable. Thanks!!!

You must have breakfast, I was like you and now I enjoy having breakfast. Try the turkey bacon, place 4 slices in the microwave for 2.5 minutes and they will get really crusty. 4 slices are 25 calories.

Hey there! I LOVE turkey bacon and egg beaters!! I always eat that stuff and surprisingly I haven't gotten tierd of it (eating since December 08), which is a good thing. I buy Jennie O turkey bacon. It has 20 cal/slice

Good Friday Medi peeps
So, I went in for my weigh in today...kinda disappointed, but I will keep my head up. I gained 2 lbs, water weight though, so I guess not to bad and down 1 lb in fat. I was hesitant to go today, because I know that I cheated (more than once) unfortunately. and I was definitely scared of what I have done I've been going to the gym for the last 2 weeks, 5/days a week at 4 am doing cardio and weight lifting, so hopefully that will help shed these last few pounds I'm trying to shed. They told me to increase my fluid/water intake. I drink approximately 1 gallon of water a day, but I guess not enough. Sure seems like it... ha ha I feel watered out Well, hope everyone else has had good numbers and has had a good week. Have a great weekend!

Congrats to all losers!

Today I put 3 slices of turkey for 2.5, they got really crunchy. Then, I rolled a low sodium ham around each turkey slice and they were sooooo good, since the bacon was crunchy, it was like eating ham with crackers!!!

WOOHOO!!!! Congrats to all on the weight loss this week!

The little thing that is important to remember is this: The weight did not appear overnight, and will not disappear overnight. I sometimes think that we, as a nation, are way too interested in instant gratification and instant results. This is a terrific program and the results are proven. It may take a little time to see the results you want to see in the mirror. You will find yourself feeling better, having more energy, and being far more positive than ever before.

This is a total lifestyle change, as many of us have learned. This is definitely not a quick fix, or temporary change. And it has been proven that most new habits take at least 21 days to settle in.

So, embrace your new way of life, and hang in there. You WILL see results.

I went to my appointment today and weighed in. Lost another 2.5lbs. I am 1lb away from 50lbs. I will be there next week. I am soooo excited about that! Nice consistent weight loss this month.

Sending my email off to you, mchestnut!

Congratulations to all the losers this week!!!!

I had my first way in on Wednesday, and lost 8.2lbs!

I've have to try harder to get the water down. Not to sure how next week will be for me ....yesterday was messed up with a family emergency in the ER for 9 hours and I didn't have my afternoon & evening pills with me....not to mention the much needed water or food.

Hi folks!
Just caught up on all the posts and congrats to all the "losers"
Had my weigh-in yesterday and I'm down 2.2lbs-1.4 lbs was fat!!
Total for the month was..... 20.2lbs!!!!!!!

I'm thrilled with this program...wish I'd done it sooner

Ah well, people at work are starting to notice the looser uniforms and they're asking how much I've lost...I'm not shy about that number .

Y'all are right about becoming a lifestyle change...I no longer think about what to take for lunch-just spoon out my fat free cottage cheese and grab a protein bar!

I just need to get in the habit of going to the gym but with work being so busy lately,it's hard to force myself to go and work out. Quite frankly, after 8 hrs being on my feet (literally!), I don't feel like exercising.

Ok,enough of the whining, I'll get myself into a schedule this week!

Once again, thanks for all the support and caring you give each other here. It helps us all!!!

Ketosis question

I have been on this plan for 2 weeks now. I have been following the plan strictly. The only thing I did different is take Alive. This morning I am out of Ketosis. What do I do and anyone know why this would happen. Anyone been through it?

Naproxen (Aleve) probably won't throw your body out of ketosis, I take it often and it does not effect me. Go back over your journal and see what you have been eating.Cauliflower put my body out of ketosis. (Could have been the amount I ate) I kept up with everything I was eating and it was the only thing I added that was different. Took me two days to get back into ketosis. Also someone posted a question about net carbs vs actual carbs ,and McBoo pointed out that we should count actual carbs not just net carbs.
You probably already know this but sugar free does not mean carb free.
I wish you all the success!

Debbie, I was never given an actual amount but the first week it is zero because we eat only protein according to the survival guide. The next week we add 2 servings of veggies or one serving each of veggies and fruit. Since the fruit allowed have 15 grams of carbs per serving and the veggies have 5 grams per serving, it must be less than 20 per day .I rarely eat fruit because I like to have more lettuce.

I was told to eat 25 carbs a day at the clinic I go to. I was struggling with my ketosis, it was really high after my first week and she told me I might have to up my carbs, but it went back to normal.

Congratulation to all the losers this week.

I haven't been posting for the past couple of days because I was in the hospital having my appendix removed on Thursday. I won't be posting as often for the next couple of days till I can find a comfortable way to sit at the computer when not on pain meds(which I hate).
