You drink a glass of water before and one after and that activates the ingredients. And I can tell you that they work. The pop takes away the craving and gives you a little boost of energy.

You can find them on the web and now I think there is a thread started too.

I especially like the root beer float and cinnamon and cherry ones!

Have a great Medi day everyone!

I keep reading everyone's posts about the power pops, but I don't know where to look for them. Any suggestions, or is there a brand name I could look up?

My weigh in was today and I lost 3.7 pound this week. I am now down 24.1 pounds in 6 weeks. I skipped a size in clothing and was completely in shock, but I am not buying anything new until I have to.

Stephenie~
Power pops are called exactly that! And as we said, there is a thread which gives you a website for information about them. And you can find them on ebay at various prices for various amounts of them, in various flavors. Just look for a seller who has 100% positive feedback first. And then check the shipping costs. Some of the big power sellers have lower prices but higher shipping.

If you wish to send me a PM, I can give you the ebay store name where I shop for these good little pops.

Wow - everyone is doing so great! I am so ready for the weather to get straightened out so that I can walk, walk, walk!

Good job everyone! My husband has lost 40 lbs and we were with all the family this weekend for mom's birthday, except my RHI . They couldn't believe how great my husband looked - it really shows on him. I am still hanging in around 20 lbs myself and maintaining. Ready to get kicked back into high gear!

Have a super week everyone!

I weighed in on Saturday and have lost a total of 11.5 lbs in 2 weeks! I didn't think it was possible, but I am really happy

I feel a little paranoid every week that I am not going to lose weight. Is that strange? Has anyone else had this feeling?

I am half way through my third week and am losing myself a little bit. I keep feeling REALLY tempted to eat something I shouldn't! I haven't fallen to temptation as of yet... but if you burn off the food that you weren't suppose to eat will it effect the diet drastically?

I was strict for the first 6 weeks and lost 24 lbs and thought that was great and it is , you do get tempted to fall off the wagon. I have and it hasn't been good mentally because I am always beating myself up. As some of the people on this board can tell you. But what I have found is that I did maintain my weight. This is the first time that I went off and didn't gain it back. Since being sick I am now mentally back in focus and tomorrow I get weighed in. 43lbs to go can't stop now. You will be fine keep a picture that you don't like of yourself and look at it that works for me.
Best Wishes Rhonda

I don't know about anyone else, but I find that I am financially motivated not to cheat! The program works so well, but it is definitely pricy. Everytime I think about eating something I know I shouldn't, I think about throwing money away. I usually can simply accept it at that point. I am still pretty new (week six I think) but I can tell you that ALL of the members here are great and if you just keep posting, everyone will you help you get through it! Good Luck - you can do it!

New Here

Hello all! I have been doing MWL for a little over a month now and was so glad when I found this forum. I have been lurking for some time and have found this entire group so inspiring and encouraging. To date I have lost 21lbs and am so happy with that!

However, I did have a question about the eating regime for the fruits and vegetables. When I first started, I asked the nurse if it was ok to do a fruit and a vegetable in the same day even though the book says not to and she said that it was fine. Has anyone noticed slower weight loss because of it or is it just personal preference?

Well good luck to everyone this week.

Don't get frustrated with the Tanita read out. There are some important things to remember about the scale. It is a bioimpedance scale which means that you complete the electrical circuit sent out by the foot pads. Electricity travels faster through water and muscle and fat slows it down. This means that if your water level (TBW) is off it will throw off the fat % and thereby the fat mass. The scale is very sensitive but not very specific. And because of its design, it creates an inverse relationship between TBW and fat. Whereas if your TBW goes down, the fat % and fat mass go up..you didn't do anything wrong but perhaps you didn't drink enough H20 that day or previous week. On the other hand, if your TBW goes up, the fat% and fat mass go down, you didn't do anything better either... If you want to compare weeks you should find those weeks where the TBW are the closest and then the results will be considered more reliable! Remeber TBW is only the extracellular H20 so sometimes a drop may be a shift of water into the cells, which is where you want it anyway! Hope this helped.

I am agreement with Stephenie about the financial motivation! It IS a pricey program, and I am not about to waste my hard earned $$$, plus I am seeing the actual physical results of my hard work. In the clothes that are getting too big, and in what I see in the mirror, and the increased energy and wellness that I experience each day. Cheating? Totally not worth it. And as Rhonda can tell you, it is way too easy to beat yourself up about it. Why would you want to do that to yourself?

About the fruit/veggie dealio, I was told one or the other if you do the 2 cups of veggie then no fruit. OR I could do 1 cup of veggie and 1 fruit. It really does depend on how you want to divide it up. Right now, with strawberries coming in to the stores and looking soooo goood, I am going with strawberries one day and my greens the next.
I think each person will figure out what works best for them.

Happy St Patrick's Day Everyone! Have a great Irish Medi day!

Hello to everyone

I just had my first weigh in on Monday and lost 12.6 pounds. I am very happy with that and really feel much better than before starting the diet.

This board has been very helpful and I look forward to reading and posting on a regular basis.

Doobz,

Congratulations on the weight loss! You are doing great. I think it is normal to worry about not losing weight as we have all been on so many other diets that have failed us. This one is different if you stick to it. I have lost weight every single week since Nov. 20th. February was a slow month, but I still lost week to week.

I have stayed very true to this diet. I don't want to reintroduce the bad foods that generate cravings and spin me out of control. I have found that since I have been detoxed from carbs, that I don't crave them as much. I make use of the recipes in the recipe thread to keep me satisfied. If I am craving a sweet I have the cheesecake bites, low carb pudding or a bowl of strawberries with whipped cream. If I am craving pizza, I make the crustless pizza. I try to find a medi friendly substitute for what I want and that has kept me happy on this program. I miss potatoes, so recently I went on a google hunt for recipes and found a recipe for turnip fries, which are completely Medi friendly. I also found a recipe for cauliflower pancakes (versus potato pancakes) which looks really good. I am going to try them both and if they are any good I will post the recipes on the recipe thread.

I also make sure I eat protein every 3-4 hours so that my blood sugar doesn't drop and I don't go into a hunger / low blood sugar panic. These are just my thoughts. Good luck and hang in there. I am down 47 pounds since Nov. 20th. My bmi and fat% are just a couple of points from the normal range. I have to tell you the way I feel gives me so much more enjoyment then the short lived pleasure of cheating. This is so worth it!

Susie

Mathteacher, Mochax15 and Robyn,

Great job on your weight losses! It feels so good to get into those smaller sizes. I had a few friends loan me some clothes as I got smaller. I occasionally bought a few items too. I think wearing the smaller sizes and feeling good about yourself adds to the motivation. So don't hang on to those baggy clothes for too long. You deserve to look nice!

Mochax15, I was told I could have 2 cups of salad/vegetables or 1 cup of vegetables and 1 fruit a day in addition to my protein calories.

What is everyone eating every day?

A while ago, people were posting what they were eating & i found it very helpful? Anyone want to share a days menu or two?

Thanks in advance

My clinic has sample menus for the asking, and I would imagine that yours does too. I am a person for whom simplicity is the key, so although I make some of Susie's proven recipes now and then, I pretty much keep it simple.
I will have FF cottage cheese in the mornings, or a Kroger Carb Master yogurt. My one cup of coffee w/allowed SF creamer. Later on, perhaps 12 natural raw almonds. Then perhaps some Foster Farms deli turkey and some celery or snow pea pods. A sugar free Jello later. My dinner will be either green beans or salad greens, a turkey cutlet, or chicken breast. Like I said, I am really about simplicity.

Susie has some great recipes in the recipe thread. If you are into cooking, try them. I have tried a couple and they are really good.

Again, check with your clinic too, they do have those sample menus available for you.

And always WATER..WATER..WATER!!!

I log all the food I eat using MyPlate - Food Diary & Food Calorie Counter | LIVESTRONG.COM. You can export your log into an excel spread sheet, but it lists recipes by the individual ingredients. So if I had an omelette, the log will list the omelette only by its ingredients... eggbeaters, canadian bacon, veggie slice. If you are interested, PM me with your email address and I could email you the excel spreadsheet which has my meals from Feb17 - Mar17th.

Thanks so much Susie. That is what I was told too but in an updated book I received yesterday it said not to combine the two so I was confused. I guess I will just continue with the way that I had been.

I know this is probably a crazy question but does anyone ever have a problem meeting their 500 calories a day??? I find myself making myself eat little bits here and there because I'm just not hungry.. I usually consume between 350 and 400 calories per day. I manage to keep losing (I had a weigh in today and lost another 2.8lbs) but I think it would be more if I would eat more..

Congrats to everyone who has lost weight this week!!

Weekly Update

I weighed in yesterday ................ McBoo, hold my spot - I should be with you in a couple of weeks!!!!

I lost 1.8 lbs and 1.6% Body Fat this week.
Total lost to date is 40.4 lbs, got hugs and high fives. To reach my BF% goal I only need to lose about 5.5 lbs - this will put me at about 27.5% BF.

-----------------------------------------------

Funny Hint I forgot to tell everyone - couple of weeks ago I was "sneaking" in home weigh-ins, even though the clinic and I have moved on to concentrating on the BF% number. Anyway, I called my hubby when I was leaving the clinic that night and requested that he HIDE the bathroom scale! LOL

Have a great week everyone!
