ok, i weighed in this morning and my total loss for the first week is 6.6lbs.

At first I felt disappointed and then it hit me...umm helllooo thats like a pound a day and that is awesome. I plan to add more cardio this coming week, I didn't do anything extensive my first week due to the drastic change in my diet.

I can safely say...it is SO ON NOW THOUGH!! Yay!!!

Congrats to everyone and thanks for being here!

I started doing cardio 6 days a week (30 minutes on bike) and weights 3 days a week (30 minutes circuit training) on March 3rd. This is working out well so far! I was a little worried about over-training but my doctor said she doesn't have any problem with the cardio. Her focus was not to do more that 3X per week on the weight training.

I am down 6lbs the first week, so not to bad. I am thrilled with my results.

Congratulations to all the losers.
cdhand,

Congratulations on your 6lbs weight loss.

Sorry to hear about your father's illness. Hopefully all will be OK.

Enjoy the chicken if you decide to make it.

Gained but loss also

Gained a 1.3 lbs because of my water is up 4 lbs. I lost 4 lbs of fat so my fat % dropped from 25% to 23%. I also lost 1.2 inch on the waist. I have always had a problem with holding water some weeks and other weeks it drops. Drives me crazy and is making it difficult to get to in the final phase.

Vicki, 15 pounds in 3 weeks is awesome! Keep up the good work.

Gretta, you are 3 pounds closer to goal... way to go!

Jerry, you have been consistent in your loss and are doing great. Glad to here about all your exercise. I have found an exercise I love and it really makes it easy to do. I hate it when I miss.

Cdhand5, sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope he is improving as we speak. Congrats on the 6 pound weight loss. Remember to take care of yourself while you are going through this trial with your Dad because you deserve it and can better serve him when you are at your best.

Jackie, 1 pound a day is amazing! Congrats and welcome to the acute phase. Now you can enjoy more variety with fruits and vegetables. Be sure to check out Medi Weight Loss Recipes. It really helps to keep the food interesting.

McChestnut, have you tried eating any of the natural diuretics? They work for me. Off the top of my head I remember green tea, cucumbers, asparagus and celery were on the list. The water is just temporary. The fat is what counts and you lost 4 pounds of fat this week. Congrats!

Lalabear, you might want to check out the ketosis thread. Jon Pryor posted some really good information. From what I have read on this thread, as long as you are in ketosis... small or moderate, you are good.

JROOTA, the frozen chocolate cheesecake bites are posted on page 1, #9 on Medi Weight Loss Recipes. I posted another cheesecake recipe that has a grahmn cracker-like crust on page 3, #66.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. You are all an inspiration to me. Every day I can't wait to check out the boards and read about everyone's successes. Please post other successes in addition to the weightloss, like when you go down a size, or survive a difficult food event. It is really motivating for all of us to read. I feel like we are a team and the support is amazing. Go team Medi!

Susie

Hello all! Way to go on weight losses. I lost 2.8 lbs this week for a total of 63 lbs gone. I behaved poorly this week. Hubby birthday was this week. We made a cookie cake with icing. Then out with a friend for lunch followed last night by out with family. I did terribly with those things so it's back to week 1 eating for me today. That's probably the worst "off the wagon" episode I've had since November. Seems like I try to sabotage myself but I don't know why....
I've ordered some Miracle Noodles and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I'm excited to try them.
I did have a question about counting carbs....with products like Atkins shakes, do you count all carbs or net carbs? And when I add benefiber (sugar free) to water to get more fiber in my diet, do I count that? And what about any snack/meal supplement bars or sugar free chocolates? This may have been answered and I missed it, but I appreciate the answers you can provide.
I am thankful to have found this site. Sometimes I feel really alone in this journey. Other folks do weight watchers and have bariatric surgeries which is readily accepted where I work. Nice to have folks who truly understand.
Thanks everyone!

Mchestnut,

Congratulations on the fat loss. Your increased weight training could cause water retention as you build muscle. Another thing how is the sodium intake?

Haven't tried the green tea, but my usual veggies are, Asparagus, Spinach,Broccoli. I have been taking Benifiber that goes in my water bottle. It taste like orange Gatorade. Not bad at all.

yeah that is what the clinic said. They suggested me not work out the morning of my weigh in. Also that to track my sodium intake this week. I do drink about 2 cups of coffee in the morning and then drink water all throughout the day. I estimate about 100 oz or 5 20 oz aquafina water bottle size. It seems when my water is low my fat goes up then when i hold onto water my fat goes down. I did gain about 1.5 lbs of muscle. So she said that could've helped also with my 4 lbs of fat loss. I am going to keep doing what I am doing and not get frusturated. It is so so easy to do when you are looking at numbers every week. They did say not to get too fixated on the weight. That the Fat loss is the best thing to be losing. I am only 3% away from a healthy fat %. I really want to be at my goal weight by end of April. That is only 15lbs away. So Close yet so Far LOL. Thank you for your feedback and support

How is Rhi doing? I haven't seen her post in ages. Is she just busy with court and wedding plans? I hope all is well.

Thanks for the well wishes for my Dad. He had a chemical stress test today and we are still awaiting some results.

I am thrilled to see so many doing so well....gives me that much more incentive to do well.

McBoo, I need to find one more item before attempting the chicken dish but will certainly let you know when I do.

So, Benefiber taste like gatoraide? I have wondered about the taste....may need it in the future....lol

I went for my weigh in today lost 4.61 pounds of water... and gained 1 pound of fat. I am now: 196.6 pounds :-) YAHOOO
Today I was told since I am in the acute phase I can't have the greek yogurt. oops I have been eating 1/4 a cup with almonds the last 2 weeks- I am going to stop it until I am in the maintenance phase.

I probably gained the 1 pound of fat from having some things that I am not supposed to have during the Acute phase. i.e. Greek Yogurt and sadly to say I had the low carb, no sugar cheesecake. http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf...ilies/eek1.gif
OK so a new day, a new week. I am committing myself on a deeper level- no more dibble dabbles.http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf...milies/doh.gif

I must confess...something happened to me yesterday where I turned into some emotional monster....I wanted to eat everything in sight....I DIDN'T. However, my significant other talked me into going out for chinese (i'm thinking gee thanks for the support)

well i ended up having a few things off of plan and exceeded my daily calories but only by about 150. I didn't over eat, I kept control...but I gave in to a few bad things. I feel bad bc I've been doing so great...but in a way i am also proud bc I had the willpower not to just totally pig out.

I got up first thing and jumped right back on track, I am still in moderate ketosis too...so I am glad about that.

I am browsing through the recipe thread making a grocery list...look out week 2 here I come!! hehe

No clinic visit this week as the doc is away on a family emergency. I did weigh myself and it appears that I have probably lost about 2lbs, but that is certainly not gospel, even though I have those "doctor" balance scales.

Congrats to all who have lost weight/fat this week. WTG!!!!!

Today is my birthday and I am going out to a late lunch/early dinner with friends to Red Lobster. I have already looked at the menus and determined what I can have that is Medi-compliant, so that will be all good.
No alcohol and no desserts, so that is all to the good as well! It will be a nice afternoon and I am looking forward to it! I decided long ago (19Dec09-program start date) that this had to become a way of life for me, and it has, and that makes everything just that much easier.

I went for my big long walk (10miles) as usual this morning, and now it is off to shower and clean up...and dust the house too!

Hope all are doing well and enjoying a wonderful Saturday!

Jo

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes! It means a lot to me.

Our lunch went very well, I had grilled salmon (half portion-and brought home half of it for tomorrow!), shared a shrimp cocktail w/2 tsp of sauce, a plain salad...just lettuce with lemon wedges (I was pleasantly surprised when the server met all of my odd little requests with a smile). No biscuits, no veggies (do NOT like broccoli), and no taters or rice. I asked that the salmon be served on a salad plate too! Just grilled please, no sauce or marinade.....and they did it all!

My friends, however, went wild, and that was ok with me! I made Susie's cheesecake bites this morning, and brought everyone home with me for dessert and coffee. They raved about them. I had my two and they ate ALL the rest!

My total calorie/fat/sodium/carb count for my meal at Red Lobster was:

Calories 217.50/fat 11.75/sodium 415mg -lower due to no sauce on salmon/total carbs 11.5. May be a little off with all the stuff I did not
put on the food, but it is a close estimate.

Fat and sodium higher by far than my daily total, but I cut back on calories and carbs last night and this morning and will again tonight. All in all a successful outing, I think the carbs may be lower because of no sauce on the salmon but not sure. And I have salmon left over for tomorrow evening!

.....and of course I have to add in Susie's Sinfully Decadent Cheesecake Bites!
(So named by my non Medi friends!)

I am heading out to ride the bike in the fitness center shortly.

Thank you again everyone for the birthday wishes!

Jo

Hello, I am new to this group. I just started the program about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I did really well on the first week - lost 6.7 lbs. The second week is the beginning of my TOM and I felt bloated, wasn't drinking enough water and did not eat enough protein - I still lost 2.5 lbs. I feel very disappointed with myself. I have gone off the wagon this week, eating an extra jello with fat free whipped topping, not drinking enough water and today I ate an extra apple. I feel really bad about it. I have a sweet tooth and the night is the worst. Does anyone have any recommendations? I also checked and I am not in ketosis as of today. I guess I need to drink more water and stick to proteins for a few days. Will that help? I also feel very limited with my diet. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
