What week is this list for?
Did you say this list was made for "AFTER" week 1? Where is the "DURING" week one list please? And when can we have that yogurt ? I am starting back up again on my own and I cant find any of my old instructions...such as when to have that yogurt on your list and how much you can have. Is week 1 "meat only" seems I remember mixing it up. But its been a while so I might be wrong...

Thanks Ann! I'm at the same office in Mt. Pleasant. I look forward to shrinking numbers as you have in your stats. I have been doing great and much easier than I thought it would be. I will have a report Monday.

Just had my first weigh in today....was super nervous. However, I managed to drop 11 lbs (5.5 water) and my BMI went down 2 points. 11 down, 19 to go before I meet my goal of 30 before June. I am soo excited!!!!

Hello everyone,
Well, I just started today! I had my appt. last night and am on my way! I have about 50 pounds to lose. While I have never done Medi before, I have tried everything else (WW, Nutrisystem, South Beach, "on my own"), and while I do have some short-term success, it just doesn't last. It is THIS board, where I've been lurking for a couple weeks, that pushed me to look closer at Medi and ultimately get on board. I am heavier now than I ever have been, even during my pregnancies. I know this first week is going to be tough, but I also know by reading everyone's posts, it does get easier. When I feel that urge to eat something off plan, I just need to remind myself how expensive this program is. I will NOT let a cookie or some other passing thing throw me off track. (I am a teacher, and one of my students brought in a cookie cake today for his birthday). I love community boards and find them so supportive, so I plan to "lean" on you all during the hard times! I hope that in turn I can give something back at some point. Helene |

Congrats!! on starting!! I also tried numerous things before I started Medi two years ago. I have to say this was the easiest and just "stuck". I am also a teacher and have found that it works well with my schedule. However, I would recommend that you keep something in your desk drawer (like a protein bar - after week 1) so that when you have something crazy come up during such a short lunch time and are not able to eat, you have a fall back. I found it really handy so that I don't go without eating, which just makes you binge later on. Stay positive about week 1. I honestly did not find it too bad. In fact, I think you will find on this board that several people do go back to week one from time to time to "jump start". |

aboard, Helene!! You've come to the right place for support, encouragement, perhaps a kind lecture now & then , and others who will come to look for YOUR support at times. I met my goal in October, but I come here everyday, because I'm still working (well, struggling at times) to make this WOL completely normal for me. I would say "good luck," but it's not luck that will make you succeed on Medi - it's YOU! Many of us have been where you are. It sounds like you're truly committed to making it stick this time.It IS an expensive program, but it's been worth every penny and more to me. Be sure to squeeze every penny out of your clinic staff by asking questions and expecting quality info and counseling. Those of us "oldies" here have found that the clinics all vary somewhat, but the philosophy is consistent. Go Get 'Em!!! And come here often!

OH that's funny I just posted a question on another thread asking if soy products are allowed at the acute phase because I didn't see it on the list. I like morningstar farms "sausage" patties, but didn't think I could have them since they aren't pure protein.
Let me know what you find out as I would be interested in knowing. |

Grfxgrl- I just read your tumblr...omg you are one funny chick!! Totally enjoyed your daily accounts and "bag of meat". LOL
I decided to do week one over because I had cheese (heaven forbid) during my week one. So here I am, day 2, and feeling okay..although when I woke up this morning I had that didn't get enough sleep sort of feeling/headache, but once I got going that stopped. Putting contacts in when you are feeling a little sight challenged because of this meat week can be a bit tricky. Luckily no eyeballs were harmed in the process. Had a great salmon filet for dinner....yummie. Keep at it everyone! |

I just joined today. I am excited, but also a little nervous. Losing weight has never been my problem. I've done it about 4 times in the last 15 years. My problem is maintaining the weight loss. So I'm hoping that this is where MWL is different - that they truly help you during the transition and maintenance phase.
I have a question. I was given a packet and there was a sample menu for the first week. It appears to be a Vegan menu. Did they make a mistake? I may call the office and see if they can fax me one that's not vegan. Well - I hope to make some friends on this journey! I need the support. |

Day 3 and....
Hi everyone,
Question for you. I know that everyone is different, but in general....at what point during the first week do many people start feeling "bad" (tired, cranky, etc.)? My counselor told me this would likely happen, to be prepared for it, and even jokingly told me to warn my family and friends. LOL. I am just finishing Day 3 and am waiting for the "yuckies" to set in...but so far nothing. I did have a headache for a while on Day 1, but I woke up Day 2 feeling great, and still feel great. Do I still feel great because I'm not in ketosis yet (I am supposed to check for that tomorrow morning)? I've had only very mild hunger...nothing really to speak of. Those AS sure do work! I went from eating everything that wasn't nailed down during a month-long binge, to eating 500 calories/day and don't feel hungry. Amazing! What's also amazing is that I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey and besides the headache on Day 1, no other symptoms. I know we can have coffee on this diet, but without skim milk (I don't like half & half) and a boatload of Splenda, I just can't handle coffee. I guess I expected to feel rotten by now and am wondering if I will just have a delayed reaction, or if people don't typically feel bad until AFTER day 3, or if maybe I'll luck out and not suffer from the Week 1 "blahs." Thank you for any input you can give! Helene |

I have to say that I never felt bad at all the first week. I know that everyone is different but for me, I had no grumpiness, etc. I was in ketosis but had no irritability. As far as the coffee, our clinic said we can have it with splenda and sugar free coffeemate liquid creamer. They make a French Vanilla or Hazelnut that are both sugar free. Ask your clinic and see what they recommend |

Hi Leslie & Helene,
Day 5 was the start of the "low carb Flu" for me. I went to the clinic for my injections and they seemed to help. I also kept well hydrated and used the low sodium broth. Last edited by Swirveegrl; 03-11-2011 at 06:20 PM.. |

rehab is like  Warm chicken broth got me through some rough moments... Anyway, I did have an occasional bad day the second and third weeks, but generally felt better than I had in years! If you have any of the symptoms, just know that it IS normal and will pass. But a lot of folks here have been lucky and breezed through Week One |

I'm glad to here that some of you feel great. I have been feeling awful. I think its all the supplements. I have a very sensitive stomach to supplements and always take mine after dinner, before bed. Because I have to take them all through the day, I've have had constant nausea. I am technically on Day 1, even though I followed it all yesterday - no nausea yesterday, just a severe headache. Hoping that tomorrow will be better.

I just accept it, leave it sitting on my table, then toss it when the coast is clear. I couldn't accept the other day because one of my former kids' parents was with her as they delivered the goods... Her mom is a facebook friend and constantly congratulates me on weight loss success. The mom kept mouthing "SORRY!" while the little girl offered. haha. I politely declined that one. ![]() Keep up the great work! |

Yes we can! I can't believe the progress I am having. Well I guess I can when you restrict your calories to 500 and eat only meat something is bound to happen. I am worried about adding in foods on a daily basis now given this great progress. Woo hoo we made it through the weekend! (Getting a little confused where to post here or on the March thread) |

Well here it is day 6 and I still feel great. I am beginning to believe (hope) that I am going to be one of the lucky ones and make it through the first week easily. I had a headache on day 1, but it was bearable. Other than that, no hunger, no tiredness, no grouchiness...nothing. I actually feel great! The ketosis stick has been reading "moderate" just like it's supposed to since day 4, so I'm a happy camper.
Can't wait until my weigh in tomorrow! Helene |

I just returned from my Week 1 weigh-in and .... I lost 9 pounds! I was amazed, and thrilled. And about 6 pounds of it was fat. I am happy to be able to add some veggies and fruit, cheese, and other things, although Week 1 was really quite uneventful for me.
SO happy!! It would have taken me 2 months to lose 9 pounds on Weight Watchers!! While I know it'll be more slow going from here on out, that 9 pounds gave me a huge boost of motivation! Helene |
