Way to go Swirveegrl!! Keep up the good work!! You look terrific in your pic! Glad you had all of your questions answered as well.
Just wondering...since we've all completed 1 or 2 or 3 weeks, should we go play with the big kids on the other thread since technically we're not doing Week 1? I have never posted anywhere but here......but do you think it's time we moved on? I've already had enough week 1's= enough to last me for awhile Also have to say, I loved that you updated via the Blackberry! You knew we were all rooting for you! Everyone that has completed week 1
Katie I think that's a great idea. We have officially completed week 1. Yippy! Let's begin posting in the frolicking into Feb post? I appreciate all of your kind words of encouragement, and being able to share my joy with you! Let's keep up our avid posting. 1 important thing I have noticed by reading the different threads, is that people who actively participate in the forum tend to have the best results! They actually reach their goal weight! Let's do it too!

Lost 3 lbs!! I am always surprised. I think I can clear up the different amt's we are allowed to eat. My NP said that I can go to 700 cal, but nothing over that since my MR is 1556, so I would stop losing. So...I think they are taking between 1/2 or more of our MR so we lose approx. 1 lb a week just by dieting. If we add in execise, we lose more. So, my goal is to get that metabolism rev'ed!!

Hello everyone, I joined the program on the 10th and so far so good. My question to some of you is - on day one I used the supplements and really felts sick, so I haven't used them since (Calcium, Fat burner, Vitamin, etc). Has anyone has success with the program without the supplements OR did I just shock my body too much the first day and I should try to get back on them?

Supplements
Hi saw your post so I thought I would respond. I'm in my 2nd week, will be completed with it Thursday. I recommend you call your clinic and ask them about the supplements. I have read on several low carb sites, blogs that it is absolutely imperative that you take calcium while on a low carb (ketosis) diet. Calcium is an important vitamin for normal body functions, like heart rate, bone health, and muscle activity. Being that you are on such a restricted diet (lowcarb & Lowcal), you really do need to be supplemented with vitamins and minerals. Possibly you were just not feeling well that day? I personally have not had any problems taking all of my supplements. Don't forget to drink you minimum electrolyte requirement either!Take care! |

Good advice Swirveegrl.I just want to add you also need the magnesium in the calcium pills or you may end up with leg cramps in the middle of the night (I found this out doing atkins years ago.), the iron in the MV may be upsetting your stomach, it takes about a week to get used to, or you can switch to one without iron, but I think you really need it right now since we are restricting green veggies.

thank you very much for the feedback. I will start taking them again in the morning since I feel adjusted to the calorie restriction now. I am excited about weighing in on Thursday for the first time

Restarting again
Hey guys! How is everyone doing?
![]() I am "new"--I was doing this back in 2008 and then i got laid off and well, lets just say LIFE happened. Anyway, I have my first appointment next Tuesday. I am cruising the forum to see what's new. Anyone have any first week tips for a old newbie? I remember the first week sucking so hard last time, but I worked from home so it wasnt a huge deal. Now i work in an office and have to be productive Would love any tips! Thanks! |

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel...day three right now. I'm doing good with this and I've been on every diet out there. (WW, La WL, Atkins, SB, best life, nutrasysrem, low cal) 600 calories a day. Wow! I never thought I could do it. I'm a teacher- so the days at work are alright bc I'm not surrounded by food except for what I bring and icky lunchroom food.
I was worried about being at home today; surrounded by snacks for my DH and 7 y o girl. But no cheats so far! Ketosis--here I come!! |

Grocery List...
OK, I am confused. Trying to be prepared and want to do my grocery shopping today even though my appointment isnt til tomorrow evening and I seem to recall there not being any fruits or veggies allowed in the first week, but I see them in the grocery list posted at the beginning of this thread.
Did something change in the plan over the last couple of years? Also the dairy... can we really have all that stuff the first week? Any help would be appreciated, I am excited about restarting!!! ![]() |

The list posted at the beginning of the thread is for after week 1. Only lean proteins, low fat cheese, low fat cottage cheese, low carb yogurt like Kroger's carbmaster, eggs, low sodium low-fat broth and pickles(only 1-2/day) are allowed. I recommed getting the powerade zero for your daily electrolytes.

Omit the fruit for a few more weeks. Veggies are lower in sugar/carbs. That's what worked for me when I was at your point.

WichitaLoser-
I had to do Week 1 for 2 weeks in a row since I only lost 3lbs the first week(after a perfect week); doctor had me do it all over again and I lost...3lbs again! Why do you ask? |

Trying out Medi for the first time. One of my roommates and her daughter each lost over 40 lbs in the past year on Medi, so when I saw an Orlando Groupon deal last week, I bought one and convinced my other roommate to do it with me.
My initial consultation at Sand Lake was last Thursday and the first true weighin will be on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning depending on my schedule. My roommate had hers in Winter Park today. Is each clinic independantly operated? There were things that her clinic told her that mine didn't and vice versa. Not sure if it was the male/female difference or something else. She was given the calcium tablets, I received the colon cleanse pills. |

I just want to know because this first week seems to be pretty easy. Not hungry..etc. and wondered if I could continue next week as well. My first week ends in 4 days...

WichitaLoser-
Sounds like you are off to a good start! First week is the hardest and it seems like you're handling it well. I have found the whole program to be fairly easy and haven't been hungry too many times in my 4 weeks of doing this (the meds work-couldn't do this without them). Have never felt better without carbs and sugar! Your doctor will tell you what you need to do next week; I think most people move on to the Week 2 regimen. I think I only saw one other person on this board somewhere who had to repeat Week 1 like I did. Good luck! |

Good luck with week one everyone. I'm officially in my week three but I went to Disney world and skipped my appointment. I didn't remain in ketosis. But have gotten back into and now see loss again. I don't expect as much as the first week (11.4 lbs) since I'm just now gaining ground again. My weigh in is Thursday morning.
