Hey everyone! I just started Medi this week and I'm on my fifth day of the program. Im hoping to lose 50 pounds by the end of May, is this a realistic goal? How much weight can you expect to lose each month after the first month? Also, is it normal to feel dizzy? And if so, will it go away with time?

aem701, welcome! I just started my second week yesterday. I lost 9.3! I have 70 to lose and I hope to be finished by the end of the summer. My friend lost 55 in 4 months on Medi, so I think you can make your goal! Good luck!

I am checking in again, the start of my third day. Feeling great! No headache so far today and yesterday it was not too terrible. I can't believe that I am not hungry, or at least craving food. I actually helped my daughter bake cookies yesterday and it didn't even affect me!!
Just wondering what everyone thinks about the extra shot. I was going to go today, but since we just had a big snowstorm, I'm not sure if I'm going to get there or if they will even be open this morning(and then I can't go tomorrow and they are closed over the weekend and I go back on Monday). Has anyone gone the whole first week without the extra shot? How does it help?(or not) I am feeling fine, so I'm really not sure how it will help me. |

I go to the Paramus office. I called and no one is there...so what I was thinking was I'd take B6, B12 and chromium vitamins (which I already have at home) and that would help with the energy level (even though I am feeling fine so far). I am just worried about getting thru the weekend, which is tough enough for me at a normal time! Wish they were open on Saturdays!
Does anyone have an opinion about taking the extra vitamins? Can I do myself harm?? |

I am taking the herbal, Stay Slim. Try those. I was dizzy the 4th and 5th days of my frist week. I drank some chicken broth and some Powerade Zero and felt much better! I didn't realize how important the electrolytes from the PZ were. Try that. If it doesn't help, talk to your clinic about switching to the herbal. Good luck!

As for the appetitie suppressants, they made my heart race, so I switched to Stay Slim. I quit even taking that after a few weeks... it didn't seem to make any difference to me & I was able to reach my goal in 3 months. Most importantly, speak with your Medi staff about all of your concerns. That's what they get paid for . Have a great weekend!!

Hi everybody! I was wandering around on here and saw several new "I started today" threads and many of them contained a post saying to come on over to the monthly board. Can someone link that? I cannot find it anywhere.
My name is Bridget, by the way, and I started yesterday. |

Hello, My weighin is Wednesday morning. I have followed the program closely, however, I don't believe I will get the results that I have seen with everyone. I hope this changes by weighin.

Well, I hear you! I just came from my first weigh in and I lost 3lbs...that's it. I followed the program so closely, worked out 4 times last week (with trainer and cardio), and was just so perfect that I figured this was it! Yet, I weighed myself at home all week , just to see (I am a scale-aholic) and the weight did not move except for the first day; sure enough my scale at home matched theirs- down 3. I couldn't believe it! If I hadn't mentally prepared myself, I might have had a breakdown right there! So, today the doctor thinks I did not eat enough because I ate exactly 500 calories each day and I am in starvation mode; my ketosis level was trace every single day(because I am in starvation mode apparently). So, now I must repeat week 1 but eat 550 protein cals each day and see what happens. Am I disappointed? You bet, but I am not going to quit. I've never tried so hard with a program in my life; I feel great doing this, so I will continue! I am posting this for all those people who lurk on this board (as I did and still do) and only saw the people who lost 10 lbs the first week...want to give some encouragement to the people who have not lost that kind of weight Week1! |

Katie, chin up, hun! Three pounds is better than zero and better than gaining! You gotta eat to live! Congratulations on your 3 pounds. I hope you get the weight loss you are looking for this week. 550 is your minimum, did they give you a max?

Junebaby-
Thanks for the kind words; actually I lost 4lbs fat and gained 1 lb water- so, gotta look at it that way. You know, he didn't give me a max- just said up my proteins to 550. I am still wondering about the days that I will work out and burn 200-300+ calories; I am still worried about that. But, I will wing it on those days- maybe an extra ounce of turkey or something like that....geez, maybe I'll just go crazy and have a whole cup of eggbeaters!! |

Katie, WOW! Four pounds of fat!!??!? That's awesome! Did they show you that huge hunk of rubbery stuff that represented a pound of fat? And you lost four of those!?! Amazing! I haven't asked about how to alter my caloric intake on the days I work out. Hmmm, that might be a good idea. If you gained a pound of water, that's easy to get rid of...just drink more water!!!! Maybe next week will surprise you and be your BIG loss week!

Yes 4, and I did see that "thing"...I pictured it coming right off my thighs! Yes!!
I have been drinking the 120 oz of water! Not sure if I can drink anymore than that!! But I will give it my shot! I am actually making myself nuts over this whole thing. Need to just get on with it... Thanks for the encouragement...now let's both have a great week! |

Hey, thanks so much everyone for your suggestions! Ive been drinking the chicken broth and the powerade zero, and i also got off of the prescription appetite suppressant and the dizziness is much much better. I took my blood pressure and it was also low so that could explain a lot of my tiredness too i suppose. The good news is my symptoms are improving and im starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel of these first few weeks, its been soo hard! I lost eight pounds at my first weigh in though :] . Good luck to everyone, you can do it!

My son offered me a sucker tonight. I said I couldn't have a sucker and, of course, he asked why. I said, "Because I've had too many suckers in my life, and now I'm having to make up for my foolishness!"

Katie B - thank you for posting your week 1 results. I have my week 1 weigh in on Thursday and I am so NERVOUS! Like you, I have been reading all of the threads and others' 10lb success stories in week 1. I have been following the program to a T but I just don't feel like 10lbs is going to be possible for me and I am worried that when I step on the scale I will see a small number and lose motivation. Your positive attitude made me feel better
Congrats on your loss - I would LOVE to lose 4lbs of fat! |

I've completely lost motivation. I'm not on-plan at all. I NEED to get back on track, but I'm being a big baby and I DON'T WANNA!

Okay, you newbies who have lost motivation, or are feeling down because you didn't lose 100 pounds the first week
.... Nobody but YOU can make this work. The good side is that you have total control of how successful you can be. The hard side is that you ARE responsible for making it work...!How long did it take you to put the weight on? A few years, maybe? And you think you can take it all off in a couple of months? I lost 4.5 pounds my first week. Like you, I was disappointed at first. They really shouldn't flash that "lose 10 pounds your first week" in your face... but I guess that's how they get customers. I lost gradually, and reached my goal in 3 months. Granted, I didn't have a HUGE amount to lose. But it felt that way to me. Now, 4 months later, I still watch and record everything I consume. I worry a bit about gaining, but I know how to control it now. And I don't suffer or live like a weirdo - I eat all kinds of yummy things & have found low carb/low cal/low fat replacements for many things I was missing. I exercise daily, but don't run marathons .Just wait until your clothes are dropping sizes... think how happy you'll be! I wish I could give you the magic words to help you stay with this plan. Maybe someone else on this forum will. However, I know that if I can do this, YOU certainly can ~ I have faith in you! |

Hi, I am new to Medi Weightloss. I started last Saturday and have my first weigh in tomorrow. I have been good, but don't feel like I have lost anything. I have been having sugar free jello, and 3 cups of decaf sweetened with chocolate eas shake. I have been counting all the calories, and have not gone over 650, 600 was my limit. But only cheated with high protein like chicken. I am a little confused as to why the limit of fat, if this is essentially a low carb diet, why not allow the fat? with no carbs I don't see how it can matter, but I have been watching it. I am just worried that I am wrecking my metabolism, and I'm worried about later, when I have lost the 30+ lbs. Will I be able to eat a healthy diet of 1200-1500 calories?
Anyway, I have appreciated all the tips, but obviously have questions. And I'm SOOO Hungry. They did not give me the app. suppressants because I was worried about them, but I think tomorrow I will ask for them. Cheers! |

Moxie-
Hope your weigh in goes well today! Hang in if it's not 10 lbs!! Post your results- am curious to see how you do....we're kind of the same weight/height. Good luck! BTW, this second week of following Week1 is going very well for me. Have added in the extra calories as per the doctor and I'm drinking one of the Medi shakes on the days I work out (and don't count it toward my total to offset the calories burned) and so far the scale has gone down since Monday when I had my Medi weigh in (weighed at the gym today). My ketosis is still trace...maybe it always will be. I drink my 120 oz of water/other liquids and am only eating protein. So we'll see how next week's weigh in goes. I can say this- I feel great! Junebaby- glad to see you got back on track....good for you! This whole losing weight thing is NO FUN but just think how much better you'll feel this summer when you've lost the weight. That's what I think- I don't want to spend one more summer being fat!! Let's keep it going-OK?? |

Also, I have a few questions about the amount of carbs we are allowed. I think the highest I have gone is 14, but they nevers said how many were allowed. also, they allow CHOBANI Fat Free Plain yogurt, but a 4-6 oz serving has anywhere from 5-7 carbs, which seems a bit high.
And fat free cottage cheese is allowed, which has 6 grams of carbs. I did find fiber one which has fiber so if you are following atkins accounting the 8 carbs it has for a 6 oz serving would only be 3 because of the fiber. HELP!! |

cheftrish, ask about the StaySlim. It's the herbal supplement instead of a prescription. It's what I'm on because my EKG was abnormal.
