First Weigh In Tomorrow

I have my first week weigh in tomorrow...I am a little anxious, nervous and excited. I have followed to a T on my scale I have lost around 5 lbs. I am more curious to know how much fat vs. water so I guess I will have to patiently wait until tomorrow..patience is not one of my strengths.

Question: my clinic told me to have 25 carbs of fruit and veggies. Should I be worried about other carbs as well?

I would just stick with veggies first. When I added fruit too soon it took me out of ketosis. You should have 25 g carbs of the veggies or fruits they mentioned, if you add fruit yet, you'll see it eats up alot of that carb allowance! If your protein, yogurt, etc has a little existing carbs in it they don't mean to count those in that 25, just be careful of what you are selecting. Something that is protein that is 2 g protein and 7 g carbs is not a good protein source, etc. Go by your handouts!

Thanks every for the suggestions on gettng in my water. I should have went and got the second shot Friday, but did not make it before they closed. Did have some cravings yesterday, but stuck with the diet. So far it has been extremely easy and have felt good. Crossing my fingers it will stay like this.

I just went for my first weigh in on Saturday and lost 10 LBS. Here's what my counselor told me veggies and fruits contain natural carbs. You cannot add any additional carbs until you have reached your wellness phase (goal weight)
They add 2 servings of veggies or sub 1 fruit for a veggie. These contain natural carbs and they told me to stay away from the fruits for now and stick with the veggies because fruits contain more sugar and carbs. They should have given you a list of what you can choose from and these are 25 calories per serving (a serving is 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked). You are also allowed 1 serving of fat free cheese no more than 1 oz per day read the label for the calorie content. You must count every calorie. Don't know if all centers operate the same, when in doubt ask. But this is what my counselor told me.

FYI 1 oz CABOT 75% far-free cheddar contains 60 calories great in an omelette.

Nannyhooch - I just returned from my first weigh in and lost 5.5lbs too how funny. So what is your timeframe for hitting your goal weight? If you don't mind me asking.

I was was told 75% fat free so its what I have been using and it's CABOT so it doesn't taste bad. Just remember to read the the label 1 oz = 60 calories for me it works. I'm just looking at the calories

I started 5 days ago myself. The first day was very hard for me but I made it. I also took the app suppressants too. However, the 2nd day and onward I didn't. I wanted to see how strong the urges of hunger would be. I found that I was fine without them. I was hungry but not as bad. Even after 5 days I'm quite used to the amounts. I still look at other foods and think...mmmm. But I keep myself busy, which isn't hard to do being in college. Lol.

I often wonder though if the first day was very hard due to the extreme change in diet or if possible the suppressants had a little to do with it. Maybe when they began wearing off my body grew extremely hungry. Not sure but I have been off them since day 2.

I go tomorrow to my second checkup can't wait for veggies and fruits.

Yummy!

Just started second week and I just had my first fruit..blueberries in cottage cheese it was such a treat. Has anyone else realized that this way of eating will make you appreciate good / healthy food? Yesterday having a salad was a delicious where as before I would "choose" salad cause I thought it was the right choice, yesterday however, I couldn't wait to have a salad...

You took the words right out of my mouth. I had string beans and chicken yesterday. I have been staying with the 2 veggies because I love salad and yes I do feel like I'm eating healthy. This program is about making making smarter choices and it works. I also have the energy to get back on the treadmill too. We will see what happens SAT at my next (2nd) weigh in. I'm a bit nervous have been sticking to it but am afraid of what I will see now that they have given us a bit more to eat.

Hey Valerie - How was your first weigh in? You should update your statistics in your profile so we can all track your success

I lost 10 lbs. I couldn't I believe it. I put my scale away at home because I used it once at the beginning and the staff at my clinic told me not to because their scale is so much more precise there could be a big difference.

Hi Everyone.

First day on the site! I started on Saturday, went for my second set of shots yesterday and have my first weigh-in Friday morning. Today was the first day I checked for ketosis and the stick read 'Trace'. I've been eating properly, (also taking brisk 30 min walks) but I'm afraid its from the drinks! Clinic said to drink Crystal Light Pure Fitness (turns out to be pure sugar!) its even on my list! They also told me to use sugar free flavored creamer for my coffee, but as I find that rather disgusting they said to use FF half and half... again sugar! Today I switched to a cup of Hood low carb milk after a counselor suggested it yesterday. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm finding the food amounts satisfactory, but I think my morning coffee is defeating me!?

Been using fat/free half and half and I'm a milk no sugar girl so far so good not using much though not a fan of half and half its better than drinking it black yuck.... . No Crystal Lite too much sugar I've been using Powerade Zero comes in Grape, Orange, Lemon Lime, Berry and Strawberry there all good but Grape and Orange are my favs. I can't drink just water so I've have been drinking mostly this and its working for me. Lost ten lbs the first week, and my ketosis is always between moderate and large.

I can't don't know why I've always been that way when dieting. So I've been drinking straight Powerade Zero and I mix with water when I finish half the bottle. too; the counselor said it was ok as long as I get at least 64oz in and I find I'm drinking more than that! Only problem is I feel like I'm floating having to run to the bath room so often and if you will forgive the me for being honest can't hold it when you drink this much water.

Hi everyone,
This is my first day on the program and so far, so good. I thought I'd be hungry (not), I thought I'd feel bad from the meds (don't) and I really feel positive and great for the first time in a long time! I can do this!
I had been thinking of doing the MWL for some time(but was afraid it was too drastic) and what really convinced me to do it was all of the positive feedback on this board! So thank you to all of the "regulars" and newbies for all of your input, advice, suggestions, etc.
Most of my questions had already been answered by the time I went there yesterday and I knew exactly what to expect. So, thanks again and wish me good luck!

I actually do have two questions re foods- is the Hormel Turkey pepperoni allowed on first week? It has 70 cals for 17 slices, 9g protein, no carbs and 4g fat. Also, is diet Jello allowed this week?

I also think that I am going to have trouble getting 64oz of water in; I like Crystal Lite, but am now a little nervous about some of the comments above. I will really need to try and get the water in!

FYI advice for the WATER ISSUE cause its my problem too. No Crystal Lite too much sugar I've been using Powerade Zero comes in Grape, Orange, Lemon Lime, Berry and Strawberry there all good but Grape and Orange are my favs. I can't drink just water so I've have been drinking mostly this and its working for me. Regular Jello is loaded with sugar I would run that one by your counselor don't know about sugar free Jello.

Yep, Turkey Pepperoni is allowed. I'd find the lowest fat brand I could, though. Don't know about the Jello. Should have found that out before my first week, because it would have been nice to have some if I could have! I am addicted to water. It's pretty much the only thing I drink. Love it. Can't get enough of it! Drink as much as you can just taking your pills. Maybe that will help.

Thanks for the advice on the Powerade....gotta run out and get some!
The only reason I asked about Sugar free jello is the PA I met with yesterday went over the Shopping List with me and she highlighted what I could use this week...including pickles and sauerkraut...and she highlighted Sugar free jello as well....but I don't see it on the sample menu they give you. It's not a huge deal, but it would be a nice thing to have at night.
