Thank goodness for this site!

I am on day 6 of week one... and it has definitely been hard for me. I go through some serious cravings and I have actually cried.. twice. I was so happy to find this site because I felt like I was going crazy with information I needed and didn't have, questions I wanted to ask, and so much more. I have found it all here!! I can't wait to try the Oopsie's!!!

Hi, no words can explain how this forum has helped me so muchh. The first week is difficult!!! I'm on day 5 of the week and the anti-suppressants really works-- fabulous! It's to the point where I actually have to shove and force myself to eat just to get 500 calories in.

But I have a question, is it normal to feel cold all the time? I'm freezing but other people around me aren't... hm

Fevrier - You're probably drinking all the water you were told to drink...right? Other than that, did what did they say about your thyroid test results and metabolism? Have you ever had that cold feeling before Medi? Feel free to call the clinic.

Peachy ~ The clinic will give you a list of foods and the calories associated with the foods. Your counselor will explain how the program works.

My 1st day, as an example:

4 egg whites - 70 calories (from clinic data)
turkey breast 6 oz - 180 calories (from Boar's Head label)
chicken breast 6 oz - 210 calories (from clinic data)
turkey pepperoni 17 - 70 calories (from package label)
Total: 530 calories of lean, protein rich foods. The calories include any fat or carbs associated with the high protein food (like the turkey has a little bit of carb per serving and a bit of fat, but all of the calories count towards the 500)

Lea, do you take the MIC shot? They give it "Free" once a week or twice if you want. Or the B6/B1 shot, for an additional cost. I didn't get it, I feel fine. How about all the other pills? I was also given a prescription for Sprionolactone? I asked why I needed this as was told it was for muscle cramps and helps in PMS times. This was totally out of the blue, we weren't even talking about any of that. I haven't gotten it filled...

just curious...

I won't do the AS, I don't need it!

My clinic works with my doctor, keeps him up to date on everything that is going on..

My MD is 110% for it. In fact, my primary care doc was skeptical but did the research and once he found out that this particular doctor was the franchise owner, he was very impressed as she has an extremely good reputation in the area. In addition, my gynecologist/OB who is chief of staff at our hospital recommends the program. He is totally on board and thrilled with my success.

Hey, thanks for your concern though.

You know, I have had the shot about 4 times. I don't think it makes any difference for me, personally, and normally I don't get one. In the beginning I did, but now I don't.

About the cherries! I love Rainier cherries, and 17 of them is a serving. I never popped out of ketosis when in the acute phase because of them, even though their sugar content is wickedly high!

For me it was raspberries!

Hang in there, you are doing well!

Rainer cherries are my absolute favorites. Their season is very very short, they are quite expensive (up to 7.00 per lb) and really good. I put 17 in a little baggie....and put the little baggies in a larger one and into the fridge. One baggie at a time. I learned that if I choose to eat them, one baggie is the limit. Besides, then I have some for later as well.

Ugh!

So I am on day 6 of week one.

My favorite thing to eat this week has been shrimp, because you get so many for so few calories.

Here's the kicker. I just found out (from the package) that the serving size was 4 and not 5 so I was eating 35 calories MORE than I was supposed to be!! Therefore, I am over 500 for 3 days this week. 535 for 2 days, 555 for 1 day!

My clinic said it was ok to go over, but I have to imagine going over by this much cannot be good. I guess I will find out during weigh-in tomorrow, but does anyone have any insight or advice to offer in the meantime???

Are 35 additional calories per day going to squash my hopes of a good loss this week?

It should not - as it is - it is sometimes difficult to count those calories. If you did everything else "by the book" - I think you should be OK

Don't beat yourself up over going over in calories like that.. Every clinic is different on how many calories they allow. My clinic said 500-600 a day and it's OK to go to the 6 or sometimes over that... lol... I have a few times and still have lost 15lbs in 3 weeks...

35 extra calories of shrimp is definitely not going to affect your loss. I promise.

I don't think it is going to affect your loss either. There have been a few day that I was over like that.

I was also told 500-600 calories a day, so going over a few calories is not going to make a difference. Plus my clinic told me that if I was going to go over, to it with lean protein. So you'll be fine.

Like everyone else has said, don't worry. You will be fine! I was put on 550-600 calories a day and I usually stay around 585 and sometimes a little more. One day I was even at 615 and I have lost fairly consistently.

Woohoo for rainier cherries! Bought some and love them. I stood there looking at them for a long time but after yesterday's mad dash around for something sweet, I figured that cherries are a much better alternative to cool whip free any day.

My first weigh in result was -9lbs! So those extra few shrimp couldn't have had much impact at all!

Thanks for the support everyone!

Erin and Jo ~ Gee thanks! I was at Sams today, saw the Rainier cherries, thought of Jo, and bought some. So far I've only eaten two. Jo, how many calories for 17?

Remember Newbies....Jo has been on maintenance for over a year, Erin is on maintenance, and I'm possibly 7 lbs from goal. I avoided fruit pretty much for the first almost 3 months....too tempting to lose control of serving sizes, and also so many carbs for the amount you get to eat and have to limit carbs in other ways that day. Just a heads up!

~Debbie~ Most people look at 1cup of cherries which can be upwards of 90 calories. However, I measured out 17 cherries and they are approximately 75 calories, and approximately 17grams of carbs....they are a treat for me, although I could easily eat a whole lot more of them. I have a friend who is a bionutritionist and she figured out the components for me. And I trust her far more than livestrong or any other website. So a gram of carbs per cherry. That is why they are such a treat. Far better than ice cream, and like Erin says, better than cool whip too!

They are in season such a short time, that when the season is ending I put them in their little baggies and freeze some!

Jo

Welcome Peachy! Just read everything the clinic gave you, stick to it, drink all (or close to all) the water they tell you to drink, and check in here several times a week if not daily! Also, go to "control panel" (up above) click on that and click on your profile and your signature to doctor it up so we can now more about you. You can get ideas from looks at ours. MWL is the ONE that works! Just do your part. Start reading everything here on this newbie thread to get a lot of your answers for the first several weeks, you'll have lots of questions....and they've already been discussed here probably. I am down 43 lbs. My photo at the left shows me at about 180, I'm now 147. I still have about 7 to 12 lbs more to go til I reach goal.
