Started the program last Thursday, so far so good, although when I checked my ketostix this morning....I have a long way to go, it was on the first color. Is that normal?

Yes, that is normal. Some people fall into ketosis immediately, for others it usually takes about three days. It seems to vary with everyone.
You also asked about the miracle noodles. Here is the thread about these funky noodles: Miracle Noodle Lovers... And here is a thread all about ketosis as well: Ketosis And we also have a thread for recipes, most of them applicable after week one. Week one is your most difficult week. You have already found that thread. We also have a thread for questions and comments about our recipes: Medi Recipe Question And Comments And here is our main thread for support, encouragement and friendship: Awesome April 2009 for Medi!! So come on in! And Welcome to the group!![]() Jo |

Thanks for the info. I looked for info regarding this program before I started but didn't go back far enough when first searching. Found this site today and am very very glad I did. It's great to have people that you can bounce questions off of, that have done or are doing whichever phase. Thanks again for your help.

Here is the main site in the computer for the MediWeightLoss program. Besides the materials that you get at your clinic, you will find other good information here too.

@ Mathteacher, do you count the calories in the gum? I actually read the package and it says >5 calories...when I realized that I was like WHOA! I chew LOTS..specially when I'm bored and wanting to eat!

I am replying to your post over here because we want to keep the recipe thread as comment free as possible. That is why we created Medi Recipe Question And Comments. I have no affiliation with netrition and have never purchased anything from their website. I buy most of my ingredients from Walmart, Publix, Whole Foods, Chamberlins and BJ's. Netrition is just an online store which carries alot of the low carb foods. They must have an arrangement with Low Carb Friends to link to them whenever a product they carry is posted. It has nothing to do with me. Susie |

Unfortunately I'm not too advanced with the computer stuff, when you see a post and want to reply to that person the reply comes up in the exact forum. I know you guys are trying to get the recipes on one site, I will figure out how to ask stuff and not put it on the recipe forum. Sorry, I'm new at this whole thing. Thanks for the help.

No need to apologize. I don't know if this is the most efficient way to do it, but what I do is hit the quote button, then copy all the text. I then go to the thread I want to post in and hit the post button and paste the text in. Then I add my personal message and submit reply. If you don't care about the quoted text you can just post in the appropriate thread and reference the post in the recipe thread. For instance, just say "On recipe #25, how many portions does that make?" I think it is great that you are checking out the recipes. It keeps the plan liveable to have variety. Welcome to a wonderful support forum. It has been a source of inspiration for me. Susie ![]() |

First weigh in today and I'm down 6.2 pounds! YAY! Excited, but I must admit I was hoping for a bigger number. My goal is to be down 20 pounds in 4 weeks so this is right on track for that. Can't wait to get into the 170s...!!!

Hey-
Thanks guys for all the great advice. I'm into week two and down 10 pounds. I'm still struggling though with knowing what to eat. I definitely have been going over 2 cups of veggies but I have only been eating from the list. Trying to stay within the 500-600 protein calories. Is it 500 calories and 2 cups veggies and that's it or veggies are ok if you get your protein? Should I be weighing and measuring them like I do meat and stuff? Also, does Crystal Light count? I'm not sure I'm doing this week right...

you do 500 calories of protein in addition to two cups of veggies from the approved list.
you should drink 2 crystal light hydrations or 2 bottles of smart water as part of your 6-8 servings of water to ensure you get electrolytes to help with dehydration some of the things i did for the first two weeks (I'm in week 3) are: turkey sausage links, with a little bit of walden farms maple syrup turkey pepperoni microwaved to the point they are crispy rotisserie chicken from publix (no skin! lol) lean ground beef burgers with some mustard and pickles/mushrooms/onions hard boiled eggs...little high in calories (75) ...but you can remove the yolk and have those (only 17.5 calories for the white) eggbeaters aren't terrible, and good sometimes dinner one nice thing is that you can use some salt and pepper oh and one awesome thing i had during week one was a ton of snow crab meat...i bought a bunch and took it all out of the claws and had a big bowl of it to enjoy, used a little bit of spray 'i can't believe it's not butter' and it was great |

Hi Everyone, I am on day 1 and I have a few questions.
~My paperwork says we can add dried seasonings to our food. I added parsley and dried onion to College Inn chicken broth with my lunch. Is the dried onion OK? ~I planned on having a medi shake (following the Orange Julius recipe from the recipe thread) but I could not choke it down. I really dislike "fake", chemical tasting drinks. Are there any other protein shakes with better flavor? ~I have ordered some miracle noodles. Are thse OK during week 1 if they arrive quickly? ~I had a really hard time taking my pills this morning on an empty stomach but I know they need to be taken an hour before eating.. any tips on how to handle this? I felt really sick by the time I had waited long enough to eat. TIA!!! |

Hello,I am reading through the thread but I have a few questions.
What are MIC shots? When you go to the clinic are you getting phentermine or some other diet pill? Are the diet pills optional? Do you have to go to the clinic every week or can you go bi-weekly or monthly for your pills and weigh ins? Is this plan only 500 calories per day or is that only in week 2? Is execise advised while only eating the 500 calories? I went to the website but I need help from my LC friends,Thanks. Last edited by beautifulme; 05-05-2009 at 08:07 AM.. Reason: sp |

Week one is 500 calories generally(depending on the person) and is described clearly in the informational material provided by the clinic and explained to you on your first visit. The first week is very strict and some find it very difficult, others not so much. Following week one, you may add in fruit/veggies. The program suggests exercising at least 3 times a week. I would suggest calling a clinic in your area for more information. Jo Last edited by Desert-Rose7; 05-05-2009 at 02:09 PM.. |

Thank you soo much!! I have done low carb before (10 years ago when there were less low carb products) and started again this week...so far so good. My daughter is getting married this August and I want to look good for wedding photos so that I can display them without cringing... (yeah... it should be all about the bride... hehehe)
One question... is 4 to 5 chicken thighs too much for lunch? I |

I think I shall have to try that! About 3 in the afternoon, I could really use a little boost!
Or do you take it in the am...Robyn and how many times a day? I take all my herbals and antioxidant/COQ10 and such in the am.....and of course our meds throughout the day... Jo |

Thanks Robyn! I usually only take my other vitamins once a day too! I shall take a peek and see if I can find this at Walgreen's or CVS today. Hopefully it is not only at Costco..is it a Kirkland brand?
