I went for my 2nd Weigh in today.... am I ecstatic - noooo... am i disappointed - i would have to say no to that one too... I was wanting a much bigger number today, but I will be happy with what I got. I have been doing everything according to the directions, and have stayed in ketosis 100% of the time.... so, i know i am doing my part, and it will show....
Starting Weight - 165.8 Week 1 159.4 (down 6.4 pounds - 3.8 from fat, 2 pounds from water) Week 2 157.6 (down 1.8 pounds - all 1.8 pounds from fat) Last edited by jp3girl; 03-25-2010 at 10:22 AM.. |

sagging skin-what to do?
Thanks for starting this thread It makes my life so much better!
Ok guys I am 38 and have had 2 kids -I am on day 8 and weigh tomorrow for the first time. I have noticed some sagging of the skin in my abdomen and breasts. Is this going stay or in time will it diminish with time or excercise. I am still going to lose the weight for my health it is just nice to know what to expect. As you can see i have about 66 lbs to lose. Any advice? |

I was so stupid to start MWL the week before Passover. Oh, Passover is perfect for it -- but not the two sedars. I don't want people noticing my eating different and besides, there are traditions that occur in the sedar (like 4 cups of wine, I never drink that much though -- two, if that) and other things.
I don't want to stray from the plan in the first week -- so I am just dreading Mon and Tue night. I'll be glad when it's Wed, March 31. That'll also be my first weigh-in. Thanks for all your inspiration. MWL's web site has little inspiration with just four stories... finding much more here! One suggestion for the forums? (I don't know who to contact privately) -- suggest adding "height" in front of weight. It can be discouraging for some folks to see weight data as height can be a big differentiator. |

Not having a good day with the hungries. I even had chicken broth TWICE at two different times per your recommendations and I've already had over 96oz of water (it's 5pm). This is day four for me.

txntv ~ I just started Medi on Friday, so I understand how you are feeling! I am finding that redirecting my energy away from food helps with the hungries. I went shopping this afternoon, just to get out of the house & away from the kitchen! After I got home, I did a full blown pedicure on myself to keep my hands busy!
I know we are going to get through this!!! Last edited by suzanna1; 03-28-2010 at 03:56 PM.. |

This is my 1st week on the plan. Im a little confused. I was basicall focusing on carbs. I was thinking atkins diet. Its 300pm and I have had 610 calories. Im already over my 500. So do I have this right, they call them protein calories but its still just the calories on the pkg, right? Its called protein calories because basically you arent eating carbs.

My counselor said 500 cals from only protein but it depends on your start weight-but if you went over today a little no biggy just keep on the rest of the week and you will probably still lose more than any other diet. Good luck! You can do it I am on week 2 and althoguh week 1 was difficult-it was sooooo worth it! |

Thanks Cjbee. I was confused about why they were called protein calories. Guess I thought it was a hidden secret to adding them. Anyways, they are called that, because your only eating protein, right? I cant believe how some ppl say they have a hard time meeting the 500 cal. mark. I sure didnt have a hard time. Today is day 3 and I woke up with slight headache. I can do this though. Im so excited. I go on a cruise in May. I want to lose as much as possible. I have been married 14 years, and we are going with all couples, no kiddos. I wanna look sexy for my man.....LOL

Wow that sounds like a great goal! I am going for my birthday in May so I will be able to wear a bathing suit without cringing-no bikinis though-I won't be all the way yet Day 3 was my hardest too. Make sure you are drinking your water and get the Power ade Zero-that helped with my headache-also tasted refreshing. You made need a couple of pickle (dill) slices too. Make sure you chart how you are feeling because when I went for my 1 week visit they really looked at it to see what if anything they need to adjust. I can't wait to hear how much you are losing!! I go for the week 2 weigh in Friday. They said it would be slower now maybe 1-3lbs a week. Fine by me as long as the scale goes down unlike other diets that had the inital loss and then the stalll and eventual gain. I am sure your husband is going to find you incredibly sexy for several reasons-you will look better, feel better, have more confidence, less stress all this makes your skin glow and your oxytosin (sp?) hormone go up which makes men's testosterone go up-YIPPY! Week 2 is awesome-I had a clementine and since I had not had any Carbs it tasted like candy! Keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same! |

This isn't truly a week 1 question, but figured I would ask here since most of the seasoned pros view this thread.
I was told by my clinic to stop taking the fat burner because it was causing digestive issues. Has anyone else had to do this or know of someone who had to stop? and how did it affect your/their weight loss. I have done really well my first two weeks and don't want to lose momentum. The nurse at my clinic said I could try to start introducing the fat burner back into my plan one a day after a week or so, as long as it doesn't cause problems again. But, I just want to make sure I get the most out of this program. Thanks in advance. Kelly

Survived the two Passover sedars and lost 7.5lbs (4.5 in fat). I wonder if it would've meant another pound or more if it weren't for the sedars. Happy, but curious!

3rd Weigh In was Thursday - and gosh was I surprised... After my number last week, I have to admit I was kinda discouraged, and had it been any other "plan", I probably would've given up... But wowwwwww! When I met with my Dr. (who is also my OB/GYN) - I broke down crying, I mean BOOHOO'ing - and he was asking me what was wrong... I told him that I am so scared of failing... He said that my results are remarkable, and the numbers I am putting up are reflecting what I am doing. The only issue I am having right now is lack of sleep. He told me I could cut the last pill in half, and only take half, and in between tears, I was like Noooo, I want it to keep working for me lol... Gosh, I sound like such a sob story - ha ha Long story short, Tylenol Simply Sleep has been wonderful. Took 1 (only 1) - last night for the first time, and slept till 10 am. WOO HOO - OK, now i will post my results
Starting Weight - 165.8 Week 1 159.4 (down 6.4 pounds - 3.8 from fat, 2 pounds from water and .6 from muscle) Week 2 157.6 (down 1.8 pounds - all 1.8 pounds from fat) Week 3 153.4 (down 4.2 pounds - 2.8 from fat, 1 pound from water and .4 from muscle) Probably not the right thread to be posting this, but thought it might be helpful for the newbies |

Hello
I am new, actually I don't start until Wednesday morning, but I am reading and getting as much information before hand. I am looking forward to starting. When I first started reading these threads I was worried about the low-carb diet, but the more I have read I realized that like the rest of you, I can do it. So now I'm already looking forward to that week 1 weigh-in.
I am sure I will be here a lot over the next 7 days and many months. I have around 40-50 lbs to lose. |

Good Morning,
I am new and will start the program on Thursday 4/8/10. Last year through diet and exercise I lost 40 pds. Although I did not reached my goal I was VERY HAPPY that I did it on my own. I recently gained 15 pds and I'm not to happy about it. My goal is to lose 40-50 pds. Although, this plan is a bit expensive (I'm unemployed) I am making the sacrifice. Gonna need all the help and encouragement I am able to get. Looking forward to making new friends through the site. Last edited by badislandchic; 04-06-2010 at 09:38 AM.. |

Although I'm not technically a newbie, I have a newbie question. I know our main concern in Medi is to count calories and carbs. I'm a little bit curious about what level our fat intake should be. I'm careful to stay away from high fat foods, but is there a "Medi" limit to the amount/day?
Thanks! |

Thanks for your input everyone. I've had the same issue w. cheese. Noticed the weeks I had a little more of it, my loss was less! I love my almonds, but try to limit those to 2x's/week as they're pretty high in fat.
I generally stay between 12-18g after looking back at my journals. So far so good. I will also check w. my clinic to see if there are things to watch out for. |
