The first week is awful, and you need to remind yourself it is just for one week, but then it gets WAY better! SO just make it through week 1 and you are home free! Vegetables will be delicious! ANd come here if you need help or have any questions.

Thanks for the welcome.. and I learned a valuable lesson today. I did not take my 3pm appetite suppressant and I am starving. I didn't sleep well last night so I thought I might bypass it tonight.. MISTAKE! Oh well, more water, and off to bed!

If that happens again, or you are hungry before you go to bed, try some hot tea or hot broth. It will help steer those hungries away!

Question about the shakes

I made a shake for myself this morning. I used 1 scoop of the chocoloate mix, added 8 oz of cold coffee and ice. I put it all in the blender. The taste was fabulous but the texture was almost slimy. Am I doing something wrong?

I have not tried the Medi brand shakes, the EAS ones are good. i prefer the Strawberry & Vanilla, the Chocolate (IMO) are not that great.

Evening all! Getting ready to watch the opening games with a full belly! I went out and bought shrimp tonight for dinner. I'm amazed how much 4 oz is, or maybe it's because my stomach is starting to shrink? I tested tonight for the 1st time and I'm in large ketosis.. YAY!

week 1 over!

Yesterday I had my first way in...in 6 days I lost 5.5 lbs. I was hoping for a much bigger loss since everyone else seemed to lost 7-10 lbs. Went back to taking the app supressants today and still dont love them. I'm not going to take 3, only 2 during the day...i need my sleep at night. Wish me luck on week 2. Only veggies and protein this week, then I can add in fruit at week 3.

I love shrimp, but still only know how to cook them one way. Any recipes would be much appreciated Right now I buy the 31-40 per pound size, and mist them with olive oil, salt & pepper and bake them at 400 for 7 minutes, they come out perfect. I live in fear of overcooked seafood. lol.

Since I'm still in week one, I just boiled them and ate them plain. I have some great recipes but they're not Medi compliant. I'll have to figure out how to make them the right way! As soon as I do, I'll let you know.

Try this recipe with fresh shrimp. It is tasty for entire family.
I use Walden's cocktail sauce for condiment and serve with a side salad.

Broiled Lemon (or Lime) Shrimp

Pre-Heat Oven to Broil

Ingredients:
4 oz. Shrimp
4 Sprays Butter Spray
1 tablespoon Sauer’s seasoning salt
2 tablespoons lemon (or lime) juice
1 green onion chopped

Peel shrimp, leave on tail, cut down the middle and de-vein.
Wash under cold water and pat dry.
Place shrimp in individual oven-proof broiler dish.
Spray with butter spray (both sides of shrimp)
Dust with Sauer seasoning salt.
Sprinkle with Lemon (or Lime) Juice.
Add Green Onions

Broil 4 inches from heat for 5 minutes.
Turn shrimp and broil 5 minutes.

Elizabeth,

This would be a great one to add to the dinner recipe thread. Please be sure to include the nutritional information as well. Thanks!

Discouraged

So I weighed in today for the 1st time and after doing everything to the "T" I am only down 5lbs. I know that 5lbs sounds good but I was just about to start my cycle and I always have an extra 5-7lbs. I am sticking to it but I need to see some results next week, or I am going to be completely bummed.

5 lbs is great especially with extra fluid retention. Don't let yourself get bummed. Any loss each week is better than an increase. You are going to have big weeks and little weeks. Just keep going!!!

Don't be discouraged. I was in your shoes not long ago and the other newbies had to "talk me off the edge". I totally understand how you feel. I only lost 2.6lbs my first weigh in. I guess some people are just different. I'm down over 10lbs in 4 weeks. It seems to be less than the loss of others but when i really sat down and thought about it, I never would've done it on my own so it is definitely worth it. Hang in there.

Hey Medimimi,

I LOVE shrimp and one of my favorite ways to eat them is boiled w/ Old Bay Seasoning. I will boil a batch and nosh on it for a couple of days. Bring water to a boil, add the seasoning, stir in the shrimp and when they curl and turn pink you r golden Good Luck, SCgirl

Hey everyone! After much online research, I have scheduled my first appointment with my local MWL here in FL for this Thursday. I admit I am apprehensive but I will never know what being at my realistic goal feels like again unless I try! Hope to become an active contributor here on these boards! Wish me luck! Anything I need to be prepared for?? Love this thread and this site!

Thanks,
Susan in FL

Hi Susan
Best of luck to you on your journey. I also did a lot of research on the program and finally decided to "take the plunge" on Jan 2nd. So far I've lost 34lbs and my hubby has lost 33lbs! I cannot believe the difference in both my physical and mental being. As long as you follow it faithfully, this program REALLY WORKS!!!

Keep checking in on this board, the people here are honest, helpful and inspiring!

Good Luck!

Welcome Susan! I'm just finishing up my first week with MWL, I go in this afternoon for my visit. I can tell you that the first week is protein, protein, protein. I can wait until after my visit so I can eat celery! I never thought I would be craving a celery stick.

Good Luck with your weight loss and this board has been a lifesaver this week. Keep checking back in for tips and encouragement.

Hi all...

I was on week 2 about 2 weeks ago and had to stop the program due to a UTI that got in my kidneys. I'm back now and starting week 1 all over. I ended up losing a total of 9lbs the first week and have not gained one of those 1lbs back so that is proof you don't have to take the Rx if you don't want to. I continued to eat healthy although I was on heavy antibiotics but I'm all better and started back again today. Now I remember why I don't ever want to go through week 1 again-for me it's HARD!!!

Hope things keep going well for you. It's great you were able to not regain any weight especially with antibiotics. Keep losing!!!

Mom on a Mission:
WoW, those are amazing numbers for 6 weeks!! Thanks for the encouragement!! When I spoke to my medi office, they said the day of my consult is considered the first day with the exception of AS as they wait until the EKG results before prescribing them. They charge $292 for the 1st visit b/c they include supplements like vitamins, etc. I do like the ones I currently take but there was no room for negotiation in the price. What has everyone been getting when starting?

My first visit included blood work, EKG, blood pressure and doctor consult.
I received a tote bag with journal, water bottle and pill holder.
Meds were 2 shots, AS, vitamins, calcium, fat burner.
Also received a packet of info with week one suggested daily menus, overview of program, and shopping list. And Week One Tips.
Cost was $250.00. I did not have a discount coupon.

My doctor also can to see me on my second appointment just to chat about my first week. I don't think this is a normal occurrance though.

Thanks for the info Elizabeth. Sounds good! Since I am considering tomorrow to be my first day even though my appointment isn't until 1pm, what should I have for breakfast? I was thinking 1 or 2 hard boiled eggs or some protein like chicken. I probably will eat later in the morning and won't have a scheduled lunch until later.

Thanks,
Susan
