450ER - I also can stay away from the little girl's room. I also I have been drinking Powerade Zero, it takes a little getting used to. Which type of supressant are you on? Once or 3 times a day?

Elizabeth- Any Idea how long it takes the body to adjust to the increased liquids?

Congrats Mary!

I've been on for 2 full weeks and I am finally getting used to all the water. Its not perfect but I guess I'd rather go to the bathroom every 1 and a half than gain weight. One of the girls at the clnic told me today that one of the shots also makes you get rid of water so that might be adding to it. I had never heard that but I guess it could be like a diuretic. The middle of the night potty runs are the worst. I try not to drink anything after about 8.

That is an amazing loss in 2 weeks, especially at your weight. Congrats! You are doing the plan right.

I can tell you from someone who rarely was in a picture for the last 16 years and always was in control of the camera, I am making up for lost time. I love having my picture taken now and for Christmas my husband bought me a new camera. It took me no time to figure out how to work the timer.

Yes! You need to stay accountable and acknowledge everything you put into you mouth. If you journal it you will be less likely to do it next time. It will make you more aware.

She said that it usually happens every 5-7 weeks, that the dosage may need to be changed to shake things up. So am going to take 2 AS in the evening for a total of 4 daily for now. Thought I would share that with you all.

However, I was feeling guilty that I have to be dependent on the AS, but she said everyone is different. She said if my body is in the "hungry" mode, my body will not burn the "fat" as it should. So she said this is a good thing. So onward I go!
My experience with the AS is that at the beginning I really needed them and my doctor upped my dose several times. Towards the end of the program I rarely took them and had weaned myself off of them (not intentionally, just never thought about taking them) so that by the time I hit maintenance I was already off of them. This turns out to be fairly common, so I wouldn't worry about them too much if I were you unless of course you have dependency issues.

The packet I received on my first visit explained the injections. The MIC injection has B12 in it which is a mild diuretic and is given at every weekly visit. I think frequent powder room visits is something we'll have to learn to live with. I look at it as just "tinkling the fat away!!"

I am new to the site and I am on the second week, I lost 6.2 the first week and I have weighed at home ( official weigh-in for second week is tomorrow) and according to my scale I haven't lost anything in the second week...the only thing I did differently was not go in for my B-12 shot!!

I am on the phendimetrazine 3 times a day. Have used the phentermine on another diet program and I would get dry mouth quickly if I did not drink enough fluids. Yesterday I stayed home to take care of sick granddaughter and did not drink enough. I could tell last night, felt a little dehydrated. If you stll struggle with the water intake, try the 8 ounce bottles instead of the16-20 ounce. I do not like to continuously sip on something. So I can drink a small water bottle quickly and be done with it. I just have to remember to drink more frequently.

Since day 1 the water intake has been an issue for me and I'm on my 4th week and it's still an issue. The zero poweraid and the diet snapple singles helps.

Good morning Medi Buddies!

My input re: water is that before I even drink my first cup of coffee in the AM I drink 2 glasses of water (12 oz each) from the tap...just down 'em. Then have my coffee and breakfast. I've tried to drink 1 to 2 glasses of water prior to any meal. I do make bathroom runs but it gets to be less as time goes by...a little less.

Just being on the protein diet and being in ketosis can make you have a decreased appetite, I've probably only taken 10 AS in the past 3-4 weeks. But I have them when I need them and that helps my confidence to stick with it.

If anyone has Kroger or Dillons grocery stores in their area I highly recommend the CARBmaster lowfat yogurt. It just really fills me up and is even week1 friendly per my Medi MD. 1 container is 80 calories, has 12g protein, 1 g fiber, 4g total carbs, and 1.5g fat plus it comes in various flavors. I best like the strawberry banana. I've added cinnamon to the vanilla flavor and in the past put a couple tsp applesauce in it too. Yum, like a desert!

It's always good to read everyone's questions, suggestions, stories. Good for all of us for staying accountable! My best advice is always check for ketosis. It really motivates you.

Susie or Jo, any advice because my husband last PM said "yeah, you're losing weight because you're starving yourself to death!" I've lost 15 lbs in a little over 3 weeks...I feel great and haven't complained, it's just that he sees me not eating pasta, rice, bread, etc. He does want me to reach goal, he's just not too happy with the amount and speed of loss. Grrr! I'm staying pumped though!!

Debbie,

My husband gave me a hard time when I first started and was really worried for me. After the pounds just melted off and blood work drastically improved he stopped worry. In fact, next week he is starting Medi.

Awesome Susie! Good for you! And good for hubby! Thanks so much!

I'm watching "The Doctors" and they just talked about donating blood...big need for it right now. Important to hydrate yourself prior to and after donating blood, extra 16 oz water daily. Also to not eat at fatty meal prior to giving blood as it may change your cholestrol level and they may find you ineligible. So, I guess I'll save the red meat for afterward.

I have a quick question. I just ate two chicken breast fillets. The package says that a fillet is 140 cal and usually 4.8oz. I weighed each fillet as 2 oz and 35 cal per ounce as the program states. I am looking at journaling (2 fillets=280) vs (2fillets=140). Which should I use?

I would put the weight it was after it is "cooked" X 35 cal per ounce. (so it would be 140 in your case)

Thanks MaryMo,

I kind of figured that but just have no desire to eat anything else. I am still currently working on my chicken breasts. Still have 57 calories to go after I finish this.

I woke up hungry for the first time since I started. I am also have been feelin sluggish today. Do any of you take the second b12 shot? I'm considering it.

Totally off topic: Is tilapia considered very lean or lean?

I take the 2nd shot...I figure I am paying for it anyway and it can't hurt.

I consider Tilapia a very lean due to the calories per oz is comparitive to the other fish in the same category. I think most fish is going to be very lean unless it is a fatty fish like salmon.

Funny...I am eating broiled tilapia w/ lemon pepper as I am typing

thinin10 Try a crytal lite water for hunger pains (lemonade is good). The potassium seemed to settle me down. Also, I have been drinking the Fruit 2 0 flavored water and it is refreshing.

Hey, try this, sometimes, I do not feel like eating more, I just get myself a nice hot chocolate with Almond Breeze with Walden Farms sugar free chocolate syrup. That's 40 protein calories and it tastes soooo good! Top it with cinnamon! Yum, yum! What a treat!

Sometimes, I will eat a Laughing Cow with one to two short celery sticks, that's 35 cals, too. Or a string cheese for 50 cals (Weight Watcher's brand) Cottage cheese is another one, some put Splenda and cinnamon, I like mine with lots of black pepper!

When I wake up sluggish I drink some powerade zero and it helps. I do take the second B12 shot, I agree that if I pay for it I am getting it and I do think it helps. Try some sort of hydration drink with electrolytes for the sluggish feeling. I drink that several times a day on days I am dragging.

Thanks for the advice. I did get the second MIC. I think I was experiencing fatigue. In week 1, I know that I shouldn't have more than 3 eggs a week. Are there any other daily or weekly limits? Is it possible to eat too much of 1 type of protein?

I had my second weigh in and even though I though I had not done well I still lost another 3.2 lbs. I am definiately going to get the second shot each week, I truly beleive it makes a great difference in how I feel.

This maybe TMI, but has anyone been really off with their TOM ( not preggo either).

I feel much better I don't know if it was the extra sleep or the 2nd MIC. Im on day 5 and I'm in ketosis. It seemed easy up until day 4 but I'm starting to struggle with not eatting other stuff. The cravings have kicked in and so have the teary eyes (yes, I get sad about not indulging in my favs).

- does week one last 7 days or until your second visit?

kmt- I have not experienced in problems yet but I have wondered if it will affect TOM.

Hey Thinin10, I don't think there are any other limits other than the ones stated in the diet itself. Did you get the 2nd weeks sheet? That has some snacky things that they want you to limit yourself on.

Personally I don't think you can eat too much from the very lean section. That's just my opinion though b/c that's where I get most of my protein from except for the eggs and the salmon. If you are having trouble getting the calories in b/c you are not hungry, picking from the lean & medium fat catagories would decrease the amt you have to eat while still getting the protein required. I wasn't told about limiting my eggs, I need to ask about that next week. When I make eggs though I use 1 whole egg & 2 egg whites. Maybe its the whole eggs they want you to limit b/c the yolk is where the fat is.

Just as another option, I don't know if you picked up the magazine from their office but they have a recipe for a smoothie in there that is to die for! I am using less than the fruit req w/ the same delicious results tht also saves in xtra carbs Of course this is for wk 2, not sure wh/ week you are in.

Good luck!
