Hi MediInDallas!
Thanks for the information - and I called the Dr. at the clinic and she said less than 20g of carbs. Day two is really not going bad! I feel super energetic and excited. Most of all - I am surprised that I have no side effects from the appetite suppressant. I dont feel hungry - this is a miracle!!! |

I just started on Tuesday of this week, but I decided to have a little NY style pizza party before starting. I love my carbs, but I figured I was going to say good bye to it for at least the next six months. Funny thing though, this is day two, but I am not missing the carbs (my body isnt...). Wishing you great weightloss success! |

Thanks Sarai. I was unhappy at the way WKMG edited the content. They made it look like I was on a starvation diet and part of that international starvation club. They didn't mention the part in the interview where I said that after I reached goal they tested my metabolism, which increased over the course of the plan, and put me on 1800 calories.

Lol! I know! For a while I thought I was going to have to quit taking them, but now I am okay with them. I make sure that I take them before I eat a meal and I also have put them in the freezer. That way by the time they are warmed up and start to melt, they are a little further down the tract! Also, the NP at my clinic said not to drink something hot after you take one because they'll burst and then you will get that fishy burp!

Is there a week one food thread? I've been looking through these pages to try to get ideas, but its hard to weed through the various posts. I just want food ideas... for example... today for lunch I ate a can of tuna (4oz) with some lime juice, but Im not sure what to have for dinner - I was thinking shrimp cocktail. But then tomorrow is a whole other day?! Any suggestions?

I have a question about lettuce - my clinic said it was a "free" food, so should I concern myself with the calories and carbs?

Another Question - Chicken Broth
Do you drink the chicken broth hot or cold? Does it matter?

I count protein calories only. I count cups in term of veggies, understanding that I can have 2 cups per day (or I can substitute a fruit for 1 of those cups.) But to literally answer your question, I plug everything into Daily Plate. I can pretty much subtract in my head what isn't protein calories in a given day (to make sure I'm near by 600 per day.) Even with counting everything, I typically do not see my carb count go much over 30. Stop stressing every little thing or I'm going to have to spank you! ![]()

In the materials you all have been given on your first visit is a whole lot of info on week one. There are also sample menus. As well as a list of foods to avoid and foods to choose.
The beginning of this newbie thread also has a lot of info for all the new people. Susie put a lot of thought into providing tips for the all important week one. Jo Last edited by Desert-Rose7; 10-23-2009 at 06:11 PM.. |

Susie sure did and everything she's done is appreciated! But you know that one person who always has a question? That's me in this situation! LOL Don't worry, once I get it, I'll be happy to pitch in and start answering questions for the next round of newbies!

Day 4
Hi All,
I'm at the end of day 4. I was soooo sick this morning! I have felt great the first 3 days but this morning I was breaking out in a cold sweat and had this ringing in my ears. It was awful! Luckily it passed after a while but I have been so weak all day since. Good thing it's Sunday and I didn't have to deal with getting kids to school and me to work! I have been following the plan to a T and hope for a substantial weight loss on Thursday. I have done Weight Watchers many times- I think its a great plan but I just can't seem to get it to work now. I think I needed to be completely restricted with sugar and carb and hopefully the weightloss will follow! I am excited for this plan and to be at a healthy weight for the first time in my life! |

I have been feeling sick too! I think I am also REALLY sick of meat, chicken and tuna!! I have to FORCE it down because I feel so sick eating it. I am looking forward to being able to atleast eat some veggies and fruit. I hope this gets better because right now I'm feeling really dizzy and weak and nauseaus.

I know its limiting, but there's enough options out there to eat something different at every meal at least for a few days. Mixing it up might help. For breakfast today I had a Protein Shake For lunch I had tuna (i know - sorry) with lemon juice For Snack I'll have low fat cottage cheese (4oz) For Dinner I'll have 4oz Laura's Lean Beef Patty with some seasoning. Tomorrow I'll mix it up with egg whites and canadian bacon for breakfast - that's as far as I got for planning ahead. Last night I had marinated steak (3oz) For lunch I had grilled chicken marinated with seasoning (a lot of garlic) For breakfast I had hard boiled eggs (4 egg whites)

Gum?
Hi, everyone! New here. I'm on day 4, and have a couple of questions...
First, is it normal to not be in ketosis yet by morning of day 4? Also, is it okay to chew sugarless (1 carb, 3.5 cal) gum as long as you count carbs and cals? Thanks! |

Thank You
Susie, you & McBoo are the reasons I joined this site. Started Medi last Monday (tonight's my first weigh-in!!!!) & although the clinic gives you tons of info and support it's great to communicate with others who have gone thru the same thing.
I look forward to trying some of the recipes posted here, especially anthing spicy!! Wish me luck for tonight & thanks for the support offered. ![]() Esther |

Hi Everyone! I am new to Medi Weightloss in that I began this month, however I am a few weeks in. Today is day 24 and I have lost 14.8 lbs as of my weigh-in last Friday!!! I decided to post here because a) I am new to message boards in general and I am still learning the threads and lingo and b) I feel I need the support as I was tempted (and gave in) to the temptation of eating dessert this weekend. They were delicious but certainly not worth the setback.
I have done really well so far and I don't want to ruin it with cravings! My goal is to lose 20 lbs by the 30th and I know I can do it. I have increased my water intake and I am having EAS shakes twice a day. I walked 5 miles on Saturday, which allowed me to burn 744 calories and I will walk again this evening. I'm not sure how much damage I have done by sampling the dessert table so any suggestions anyone can provide would be much appreciated. I weigh in again on Thursday morning. |

Newbies!Esther, thanks for the kind words. Good luck on your weigh-in tonight. Can't wait to hear your results. Kate, Next time you are tempted think about how much money you are paying for the program. Also, instead of setting weightloss goals, which you can't really control, set behavior goals which you can control. For instance you might say my goal for this week is to journal daily, drink 128 ounces of water daily, stay between 500 - 700 calories daily, exercise 4 times weekly, ... This way if the scale doesn't happen to cooperate for whatever reason (TOM, water retention, ...) you won't be disappointed because you will know that you met your goal, and the scale will follow in time. This is a WOL, so replacing your old behaviors with new healthier ones is critical. |
