You didn't say how you lost the 31 pounds before, ie, is this your first time low carbing? My suggestion to you is to stick it out with the cravings and don't indulge. You need to get the carbs out of your system. Drink all of your water, take your AS. Also at your next weigh in or call the clinic, and tell them you are having cravings. You may need to take an additional AS until this passes. Make sure you are getting your full 500 calories in protein as well. And if you are eating fruit, maybe stop until you get through this phase. Good luck. You can do this, you have lost 33 pounds, don't look back!

Newbie
Just started Medi Weightloss and someone told me about this site. I do not have much of a support system.
My name is Trent. I've followed this forum for a few days and figured I'd introduce myself. ![]() |

Hello Everyone!
Hello Everyone! I joined Medi this past Thursday. I have spent money on almost every weightloss pill, program, and ect. I heard a lot of good things about Medi and I wanted to join. My first weigh-in is this Thursday. I'm getting nervous! I am at 170 pounds at 5'5'' and I'm going to get down to 130. Hopefully! Does anyone know what I get to eat next week? I love fruit?! Or any tips to success?

Day 1
So...I started the plan today. I'm not hungry, but I was incredibly nauseous this morning. I ate breakfast before taking the supplements and appetite suppressant. What's the deal? Is this going to happen every morning?

meltingmagnolia- I had BAD nausea the first 3 days. Diahrrea too. For me, it was 2 things.. taking the pills before I ate and also the vitamins.
Since it sounds like you are already eating first, maybe wait a little longer to give the food time to hit your tummy. Try changing your vitamin and take a different one. Definitely give your clinic a call. Once I started taking my pills towards the end of my meals, it helped a whole lot but I just cannot handle their multivitamin at all. I took in my regular vitamins and they approved them for me. You should not be nauseous all the time, no. You definitely will not feel wonderful this week but you shouldn't be nauseated for long either. |

meltingmagnolia- I'm so glad that helped! I was not able to tolerate the vitamins at night but maybe you'll have an easier time! Everyone is different. You do need a good vitamin because your calories are restricted, so at your next visit be sure to ask them for a recommendation or bring in one if you already have one

Sick.....
Found out yesterday I have the FLU, strep, and possibly vertigo. My doctor is telling me to go off the diet until I get better.
Has anyone have any tips? |

I am so glad I found this site and threads on Medi! I plan on reading a lot of the informative tips posted by SDC2 and other members over the weekend. I haven't tried every 'plan' out there...just a few that never worked for me.
But at 191 lbs and gaining steadily (with gaining a whopping 10lbs just over this past summer), I know I've got to do something about it. I used to weigh 125 and would be very happy if I could get back to 130-135. Due to my lack of success with other diets I've tried, losing this poundage has seemed insurmountable to me so I am hopeful about this program. So hi! everyone. |

Hi all

My results are as follows: Start weight 247lbs Lost 12 lbs BMI from 33.4 down to 31.8 Fat % 35% down to 31.9% Fat mass 86.2lbs down to 75.lbs Whew. I am going to keep this up. Round 2 starts today so will keep you posted. By the way this is a fantastic site and you are seem very supportive and helpful Thanks!! Keep it going everyone! |

Slow Process
I am getting frustrated. I am constipated and have tried the following:
Colon Cleanser Medi Senna Tea Milk of Magnesia Castor Oil Enema Aloe Vera Juice Boiling prunes and drinking the water Cabagge I don't know what additional options there are but I need help. My clinic has not been able to suggest anything else. I feel that I am not losing as much for this reason as well. Additional suggestions are welcome. I have lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks. |

CGT- Are you taking the calcium? If so, try stopping it for a couple days and see if that helps. My clinic told me it can cause major constipation in some people. Also drink TONS of water.
Trent- I don't think anyone ever responded to your question about the Flu. I would always say to take your Dr's advice over a message board. If your Dr wants you to stop while you're sick, then there's probably a reason. I have been sick TONS of times while on Medi (little kids at home) and just make sure to do chicken broth, jello, etc. But that was not during week 1. Maybe you can restart week 1 when you're feeling better ![]() |

The one thing I don't see in the list of things you've tried is a bulking agent, fiber. Our government advises 25 grams of fiber per day, and there's no way most of us come close to that even with a normal diet. While on MEDI acute, I have been supplementing with 10 grams per day (approximately 20 500 mg psyllium hulls capsules a day divided in 3 doses throughout the day). However, if you are not accustomed to taking fiber, you should only take a very small amount. You also have to make sure to drink all of your water or the bulk will actually worsen your problem. You can find fiber supplements (metamucil, fibercon, citrusel, store brands) everywhere from the grocery store to the pharmacy to Sam's and Costco. Just make sure they do not have any added sugars and take it slow when adding it to your diet. Hope this helps you - and soon! -Jane |

For everyone, especially the newbies,
On the Today Show, on national television, Ann Curry just now politely rejected Paula Deen's offer of the coffee cake that Paula had just prepared. Ann told Paula that she was sorry but that she was carb free. We need not feel pressured. We need not be embarrassed to only take in that which will help us in our mission. Heck, Ann Curry is skinny - and now we know how she stays that way! Don't be shy or embarrassed about doing what's best for YOU! -Jane |

Newbie Question - Food Scale
I havent started the program yet, but I was curious to know if you own food scales to help with the portions?
If so, which ones do you recommend? Sorry if this was posted before, but I did a search and came up empty handed. If there is a prior post, just let me know and Id be happy to go there. Thanks!! |
