Went to clinic today for 1st official wellness visit, lost 1.4, all water but that's ok, at least no gain. Nothing exciting to report. My hair did stop falling out so that's good news.

Hope you all are doing well and maintaining!

OMG - get me back on plan!!! I am NOT doing well whatsoever. I'm totally back to where I used to be eating wise before Medi. I'm 136.6 and I need to lose 10 pounds and definitely get back in the gym to get my muscle tone back. I feel like that 165 lb woman who first surrendered to the Medi program. I really did not want to go to church yesterday because I had nothing that fit and I was embarrassed because I had not been in a couple of months and I didn't want anyone to cast a knowing glance my way after seeing my weight gain. So sad and depressed. Not going to post in Maintenance until I am back to "normal" again because it truly does not apply to me at this point.

Hello all. Full disclosure -- I've been lurking around since January. In mini-maintenance for a couple of months. Haven't made the leap to Wellness phase, but probably will do so tomorrow. Reaching goal coincided with an incredibly hectic time -- a move across the state with my husband already having left town to get things started in our new home, while I stayed behind to enable our daughter to finish school in the old neighborhood and to get the house sold, packed and moved.

I have made maintenance before on other diets, but have not held on to the healthy lifestyle that keeps me in check. Enter Medi on Friday the 13th of all days. Here I am half a year later, with a fresh start in a new body in a new home. Wore a new pair of skinny jeans yesterday that had my pre-teen daughter doing a double take. Tomorrow I visit Medi here. I've missed a couple of weigh ins and boosters, but remain focused, committed and proud to have joined you on this thread.

Thanks to all for your posts, sharing and encouragement.

Finely Fit--Well congratulations, Girlfriend!!

Obviously you've read our frustration with ourselves at the slowly creeping on poundage. PLEASE keep it at bay and totally learn the program. I didn't let it all soak in last time Lesson learned!

If you would like to, you can be accountable to us by posting your "statistics" from your control panel page.

Hi, Fit2010 - It looks like you're about two years ahead of me with Medi, which means I have lost 20 lbs and gained back 35 since you reached maintenance.

I finally had enough with the yo-yo dieting and disordered eating and went into Medi committed to stopping this asinine behavior for good.

Yes, I see in these posts that many of us share the long-term struggle. But so far, I have been far more balanced, stable and healthy in my eating and my outlook than I have been on previous diets... I have done just about every crazy diet known to man and womankind. This is The One.

Rather than post all my stats, I'll just share that I have lost just about 40 pounds with Medi and have a very healthy BMI I didn't think I'd ever see again. Right now, my biggest challenge is not with the eating, it's with staying on track to exercise. But given current circumstances, I'm just doing my best and trying not to stress over it too much.

We are still getting settled and I'm at least doing a lot of walking and occasional light weights. I feel great.

All in all, even with the missteps, this is all very positive and we've all achieved so much.

Thanks for your reply. Congratulations to all for focus and the fighting spirit!

You live in Florida and can (thankfully) exercise year-round outdoors, which is MY personal preference, having moved to KS from CA! I'd never consistently exercised for more than a few wks at a time until Spring 2010 when I took it outside and did the C25K (couch to 5K) program. I loved it! I ended up doing 2 5K's (Sept and Oct 2010)....problem for me was that when it got to less than 50 degrees here I didn't bring that love of jogging/walking/biking indoors (and I could not tolerate it outside!) So, another lesson learned!

Yes! I can get outside quite a bit, which gives me lots of options. I had been waking up ridiculously early every day and working out with various DVDs -- light weights and cardio, 30-45 minutes. That won't work for the time being for reasons I won't bore you with. But I've joined a nearby gym, which has my favorite cardio machine. So, along with all the running around I've been doing, I think it'll all work out (no pun intended).

On a lighter note (that one is intentional), I weighed in today and am actually a bit under my goal weight

so I am gliding into wellness. Got my last shot, "one for the road," and going back Tuesday to get my report and then transition to monthly visits.

Wow. I can't believe it. Medi. Thank you so much. And thanks to this group for all the insight and cyber-hand-holding.

Hello all. I started maintenance about a week and a half ago when I got close to my goal weight (was ~128). I've been a lot more hungry now while off of the diet, and I've felt like I've done pretty bad with the beginning of maintenance. I stopped going to the clinic after week 1 and started maintenance during week 6. Needless to say, I don't have them helping me get into maintenance or any of that, but my dad's been maintaining for about a month now (and losing weight)!

Long story short, I've been eating out here and there and "splurging," but I've still lost 2lbs to put me at 126. I kinda want to stop losing now!!?

I enjoy reading about everyone's successes.

Congratulations FinelyFit AND Kristin!! Kristin, feeling more hungry can happen as you increase your carbs. As I "re-do" my plan now is to do JUDDDD in low carb fashion to maintain when I get there. It will allow "up days" of increased carbs and I hope to choose healthy complex carbs and rarely , if at all, eat the junky stuff and the opposite days eat "down day" style, which could be like a MWL week one day. Looking back, just adding carbs per MWL gave me a carb addicts "go free" urge and splurges were easily excused!!

So are you saying you ONLY went to two visits in week one of MWL and haven't been back since? Did your dad join too and he has been going weekly so that you rec'd the info from him? Your loss of 17 lbs in 6 wks at this low weight is great!

Maintaining the weight loss is the hardest thing you will ever do. And totally worth it. I simply had to change the way I looked at food/exercise. Walking every day is a habit I will have forever. And staying low carb/low sugar/low fat is a way of life for me. It is not easy, but it works. It takes time/patience/effort and awareness, but it is do-able. Which is not to say I am always "with it", but I AM aware. And awareness makes all the difference. At least to me.

Yes --- Awareness makes all the difference. Thanks, Jo. You are so right. I think it's being aware and making the right choices, remaining accountable and affirming that it is better to forego certain things most, if not all the time, than it is to cave in to cravings. I have found that I can replicate most any taste and texture with Medi-friendly foods with little or no sacrifice. Sometimes it's even better. And this is the first WOE that my family seems to like as much as I do. Unheard of !

I'm back, after almost a year of mostly maintaining and then watching the numbers go up and up and up over the last few months. I stuck with this WOE, but didn't journal or go to Medi. Also, I started to love the way that 2 glasses of wine tasted and felt, almost every night. I visited Medi last week and started Week 1 again today, after gaining over 16 lbs from my lowest weight! I need accountability, journaling and the support I always found here. Time to get this train back on the track, before it completely derails! It's good to be back.

Amen Sister! I love me some red wine in the evenings as well! But with that wine came cheese and crackers and we all know what a habit of that leads to. lol

Nance, I'm about 15 pounds over what I was at my lowest also. I am so proud of myself for staying within that range though. Over 2 years and only a 10 lb fluctuation is unheard of for me who typically loses and gains the same 30 pounds over and over again.

We are the same stats with the same goals. Thank you for posting and giving me inspiration!

Erin, I remember you so well and always loved your posts. We can do this together. I'm happy to have kept within that range, too and have had the same up-30, down-20 for years. I'm bummed that I never ate badly (no sugar except for the wine, no pizza, no pasta, no crackers, no potatoes/rice, etc.), but have gained anyway. I have to be more careful, journal, cut out the alcohol, exercise more, etc. Good luck, and let's do this!

Nance it makes me wonder how people on Weight Watchers loose with all those carbs? You had no pizza, pasta, crackers etc. but still gained. Are some people carbs sensitive and some not? Is Medi for the carbs sensitive? I know I am carb sensitive so I stay away from it. Just baffles me that some diet you can have the carbs and still loose.

I totally agree with you nsjx!! Since before my daughter's wedding in August I started going to WW at the recommendation of my SIL who has lost 30 # following their plan, and still has 20 more to lose. As a Lifetime WW member from 26 years ago (!) I only had to pay for the weekly meetings....but I gained following their program of free fruit and veggies. I have insulin resistance and finally stopped going to meetings a couple months ago...I need to discontinue their weekly payment from me though! I went back to MWL a couple wks ago and going back tomorrow. My extreme sinus surgery is 2 wks away so I am not focused on being in ketosis at this time because that wouldn't be safe for anesthesia and healing initially. I just want to have a PLAN that will work for ME!! Unfortunately, I cannot live with any kind of food abandon...even when watching calories. I love carbs, but I need to totally adapt and take care of ME with lower carb lifestyle, not just by dieting.

Hi, all! Not to bash WW; whatever helps people achieve their goals is great. I have found that different approaches have worked for me at different times in my life. When I was in my late-20s/early 30s, WW worked for me. I don't know if it's a metabolism thing related to age, an emotional issue, something else or some combination of factors, but the last two times I tried WW (I, too, am a lifetime member), it just didn't work for me.

Right now, it's Medi for me all the way, every day. And that's ok.

Hang in there everyone. We can do this.

Baffles me, too, and it's really depressing that I NEVER had any goodies or pigged out on anything and gained weight from the wine (I guess?). My only treats were: lowfat peanut butter (boy, am I craving that tonight), sugar free chocolate pudding with sugar free Cool Whip, one waffle once a week, and the occasional piece of whole grain bread. My exercise has remained constant.

Hi! I'm new to this and have my first appointment with MWL this Saturday to hopefully start next week. I have gone back and forth and am just frustrated at slow or no weight loss. I like this thread as I am similar to most of you (currently at 5'4" and 156 (hoping to get closer to 130- pre-kids). I was able toget down to 156 frm 167 over the past 3-4 mos through some WW and the fact I teach aerobics and work out 5-6 times a week). I feel like I have platueaued with my exercise, I eat pretty healthy, but definitely with carbs and feel like now, after baby boy #3 last year, I am just not successul in losing and staying on track, so I thought this would be dramatic. i lost about 25 in 2008/09 after baby #2 at about 1 lb a week through WW and exercise, but maybe I am just older and metabolism has slowed a bit.

Anyway, why I loked this thread is I am mainly worried about regaining and maintenence. . . and I see it's a constant struggle (and you all have been pretty successful). Like Erin, I have 3 active young boys in my house (all VERY underweight, so i tend to keep high-carb things for them as all my kiddos are on the small side- like I was as a child!).

Any tips as I start this journey to stay on track??!!

THANKS

Hi all, just thought I'd bump this thread to see how all the maintainers are doing? I am doing OK, splurge here and there, gain a couple pounds, then get strict again. So far maintaining though, and really, it's not too hard at all. I just realize it's not a diet, but a WOE forever.

My oldest daughter just graduated college and her gift was Medi! She reads here and will certainly glean a lot from your Medi experiences!!

Stay strong during the holidays!!

Happy 2013. This WOE has been mine for so long now that I really believe it has become part of my life. Oh yeah, there are occasional slipups here and there, but nothing that I cannot deal with. Week one works wonders if you are heading down a slippery slope.

Stay with it....the benefits are truly worth it!

WOE: Medi Weightloss - Maintenance!!!
Start Date: March 2010
Hi Medi Maintenance Kids! Popping in for a bit to see how everyone is doing. I'm holding steady at 134 still. I think that's where I've settled because over that, my biggest pair of jeans starts to suffocate me. lol

We're traveling in 2 weeks for a quick trip and seeing people from my past so I'd really like to lose 5 lbs. It's so difficult to pull in those reins!

I saw the owner of my clinic at Costco a couple of days ago and she was so uplifting. I think she was excited that I had maintained within about 5 lbs of my original goal. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with myself too!

Hope all is well with everyone. I love that I can come here anytime for inspiration!
