As I said in the July thread - so sorry fro being AWOL........
Couple of things that I have found so far on maintenance Almonds are not my friend; was using them as one of my small snacks during the day. Not safe for those around me - TMI ALERT - bad, very bad gas people! Am going to try soaking the almonds in water and then dry roasting in the oven as a friend at work suggested before I give them up completely. Also, my PCP ran full blood work up and my total cholesterol went UP!!! My GOOD & BAD both went up but my ratio went down! AGH!!! No 'scip yet though; we have added in extra niacin and artichoke extract along with my omega 3's........... retest in a few months.

I am so inspired
I am so happy that I found this site. I could not find many "real" success stories and ideas for the Medi Weightloss diet. I just completed my third week on the diet and I am down 14 pounds! I was steps away from getting a band surgery and am so thanlful that I didn't! I can't believe how great the plan is working. I haven't seen myself skinny in over 6 years & I can't wait. Congrats to everyone on all of their success.
SW-231 WK1-223.5(-7.5) WK2-220 (-3.5) WK3-215 (-5) I decided to eat veggies instead of fruit maybe that made a difference? |

Maintaining Very Well
Hello Everyone, It has been several weeks since I have checked in. Had a cancer scare and was minutes away from having surgery when a "Specialist" stepped in. Have also had way too much STUFF going on at work and home.
I have been successfully maintaining at 142. I'm sooo glad I found Medi!! 1,600 - 1,800 calories and less than 100 grams of carbs per day seem to be working pretty well for me. I still work out like a crazy woman -- but I'm addicted to exercise now so can't imagine ever changing that. I allow myself to "cheat" ocassionally on my favorite - movie popcorn - but then I'm right back to eating the way I should - no guilt. I'm also learning that there are just some foods I can't eat without the cravings kicking in BIG TIME. One bite of "real" ice cream and I feel like I could eat the entire half gallon. I also noticed that it is better if I save my breads for lunch and dinner. If I eat bread in the morning, I seem to get hungry sooner. Susie, I promise the before/after photos are coming. I stopped by my clinic a couple of weeks ago and they had "lost" my before photo. Called them a few days ago and they found it and are preparing my "book." I'll post photos as soon as I get those. Hope everyone is doing well. - Kathy |

Just had my 1 month maintainance yesterday ; lost a pound!
Stupid me I weighed at the gym and thought I had gained 5 pounds - I almost didn't go to the clinic yesterday for the shame............ I hear you about "cheating" - I had a very small piece of cake w/ frosting last week! Truthfully I can say it tasted terrible - way to sweet and nothing like I remember the taste. No terrible cravings set off! I should be getting my before/after scan from my clinic via email and will post it up when I do. I also plan on printing and posting somewhere in my house to never forget! |

Was maintenance hard to regulate or figure out? The suggestion meals from the Medi Short Term Maintenance info looks like soooo much food! I think this looks like more work and harder to follow then the acute phase. Yikes, I don't want to screw up.

After these next few weeks on the short term maintenance, do the vitamins change, do you keep taking the fat burners? I was at BJ's today and was looking at the Green Tea Fat Burners, not sure if that is what everyone was using when not buying the Medi stuff. Did anyone add any other vitamins. I am still taking the super vitamin, fat burners, calcium and omega 3.

Hi Guys,
I just started maintaince today. Not a big milk and cheese fan. Any suggestions for daily dairy intake. I bought the Edy's suger free coffee ice cream and it's good but not sure if it's a good idea to eat it daily. Also, I am going out tomorrow night and will most likely have a Captain and diet coke or two. Do these calories count towards the protein intake. Alcyzackmatt |

Maintenance people, what do you take for pills now, do you still do the fat burners? And if you do, are you using Medi's or the ones from BJ's or Costco's?

Here I am! I made goal this morning! Woohoo! I think I will probably go down a few more just as a little insurance. A bit worried about adding in more calories, but I spoke with my clinic quite a bit this morning, and we are going to take it nice and slow. So I think everything will be fine.
Just wanted to say hello! Jo |

Thanks, McBoo and Susie! You two have been such incredible shining stars along the way!
I owe you both big time! The clinic took a pic so one of these days I should have a little collage ready. Jo |

Is there a reason that you are not sharing this information with the main September thread? This is wonderful inspirational news. If you did it, so can they! I almost posted your good news for you, but then thought you might have a reason. |

I lurk on this thread as my husband has been following the program with me without going to the clinic and he is at goal and is looking for a way and ideas to introduce some more carbs into his program without "blowing" his great success, which is going from 184 to 168. Of course I am still working on myself in the acute phase. With our weather starting to change here on AZ, I am looking forward to some early evening walks soon! |

Hello Everyone - I'm back
Been way too busy at work to post anything. I have uploaded my Before and After photos -- although the After is a couple months. If you click on my Avatar, you will see a more recent photo. Still successfully maintaining at 142. Have found that keeping my carbs below 100 NET carbs and 1600 - 1800 calories per day works very well for me. Still working out like a crazy woman -- but am addicted now so don't plan to stop - Kathy

Help with Dining out
Hi Everyone,
I do not post often but read all the time. I'm happy for everyone's success and thankful to you all for all the information you post. I will be dining out and wanted to know if anyone could answer a question for me. I will be going to the 99 restaurant(chain similar to Chilis, TGIFridays etc) and was looking on the web for dinner ideas. Has anyone ordered Fajitas- eating only the chicken, peppers and onions? Do you think this is a wise enough choice or should I try to find a salad and just skip the dressing. Thanks, Al |
