Question for the Women

For the women on here, a quick question. My cycle has been so extremely off since starting this. I take BC pills to control this as I have had issues in the past, but it's not stopping it. Have any of you had any issues with this. One counselor (male) told me to get to my GYN soon, but the other counselor (female) said wait and see and if it goes on longer than 3 monrhs see my GYB then. Feel like since starting this diet I am constantly having my TOM.

Hello Everyone

Wow! So good to know everyone is doing well.
As for the question about your cycles - mine actually got better ? - How many months has it been, and are you getting the B-vitamin injections?

Also, for the keto sticks, I buy mine at walmart, by the pharmacy, they have them near the diabetic supplies. Have not had a problem with quality with them.

I am so excited to be down a little over 50 lbs in 4.5 months.
Love the program, I do not count my calories or carbs - just eat within the guidelines, take the meds, and do the sticks.

Thanks for all of the info here

Carrie

I would ask to speak to the clinic doctor and then go from there.
I can only attest to my experiance so far; I am also on BC (the kind I take only lets me have TOM every 3 mos) helps with cramps and length of time. Anyway, I spoke to my clinic about and about a week before I started TOM I got the extra B6 shot, then another extra B6 during the week and another right after I finished just to cover the cravings and water renention bases.
I never have spotting or breakthrough - did this last time though. The counsler I spoke with said this is not uncommon; in fact happened to her when she was on the medi plan.

The problem isn't the cravings, etc. It's just actually having it. Used to only have 2-3 light (almost non-existant days)...it seems like since I've started the diet though I have had in non-stop. It stopped for about 5 days and it started back up.

I am getting the B6 shots, plus the extra free MIC shot during the week. My friend doing this suggested stacking pills this month to see if I can get it back to normal and my pharmacist seemed to agree.

The low calorie level of Medifast causes your body to decrease its metabolism which can make you feel cold more easily. Try drinking hot liquids or taking warm baths. Be prepared for this by keeping a sweater handy."
Just finished a pot of hot tea................long sleeve tshirt and long sleeve denim shirt with jeans and headed to put on a second pair of socks

Does your pharmacist know about the medi program?
This doesn't sound quite right - I would definately consult with the clinic doctor and see what he/she says.
Good luck.

Yes, he did. I got conflicting answers at the clinic by two different counselors. I go back in on Thursday and I will request time to talk with the Dr. Do you get to see your Dr. often? I have only seen mine at the initial consultation. Other than that I have met with counselors for the three other visits.

I have had trouble with this also...I take Yaz. My female clinic person didn't think there was anything to be concerned with...

DO NOT STACK PILLS!!!! I did that in college in hopes of "skipping" the sugar pills so I could rearrange my cycle. I ended up with an ovarian cyst and one of my kidneys failed. It took the doctors a month to figure out what was happening to me...and during that whole month, I was continuously hemorrhaging.

Weightloss can mess with our hormones so your doctor should be aware that you are losing weight, etc. I would think that if it isn't regular after 2 months, that you would want to see your doctor....but that is me. Everytime I have switched b/c pills or lost/gained weight, my cycle goes nuts.

I went to Bonefish for dinner tonight with friends. I had the Ahi Tuna Blackened with sides of steamed broccoli and steamed asparagus. It was delicious!

While I have only "seen" the doctor twice, first & second visit, there is always a doctor at the office. When I have had any "difficult" questions the couselor or nurse practioner has always asked/consulted with the DR.

Next Sunday is the Daytona 500 it is our Superbowl that will be my challenge. How do you get though these type of events without slipping up? Fla Diva, Phyllis and Teacherdli, AZSummergirl, AUTiger, and anyone else who is a fairly new poster. This is a great site with lots of support. Teacherdli and Phyllis, thanks for posting some recipes.

My weekly weigh-in is tomorrow and if I can keep from sabotaging myself today like I did last week (Superbowl and all) it looks like I might be down about 3 pounds, but more excitingly, I am wearing comfortably a size 12. Yeah!!!! I don't know if it is because I have exercised regularly for years or if clothing manufacturers have made sizes bigger or a little of both, but last time I fit into a size 12 I weighed 30 pounds less than I do now. Has anyone else experience this?

I want to lose another 25-30 pounds as I still weigh 180 pounds at 5' 7 1/2". Everyone is telling me that I look good now and could maybe lose another 10 pounds, but 30 would be too much. Should I just accept it as a compliment and ignore their advice. 150 pounds is well in the middle of a healthy weight range for me. I want to look healthy.

Susie

Has anyone used the Daily Plate at LIVESTRONG.COM - Health, Fitness, Lifestyle to journal your food and exercise for the day? I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and have found it to be a great tool. Somewhere I read that statistically, people who keep food journals are more successful at losing weight than those who don't. It keeps you more accountable to serving size and it is a great record to look back on to see what you did when you were most successful. I know many people are successful without it, but I want to stack the deck in my favor using every tool possible.

Yes I have heard if you keep track of your daily food in take you will lose more and more likely to keep it off. The Today Show did a piece on using a journal with someone who was not on a diet and they lost 20 for the year they were not trying to lose.
And yes I believe sizes are different today when I was younger I wore a size 9 and was 110 lbs.
I believe as long as you are in your healthy weight range and you feel good and look they way you want that is where you should be
I find when I lose weight people always tell me that I look good and should not take too much more off even though I not where I want to be- this time around I am also going for a healthy range but more important is do I like what I see in the mirror?I have to be happy with myself.
And yes I can see this is the place to be through out my weight loss journey I have never done this before but I have never kept my weight off because I always think I can go it alone- support& encouragement is a good thing!
Good luck tomorrow I am sure you did great. I just hope I can do as well as all of you have done
Take Care

Hello fellow car nut....... we also enoy watching the circle track races and racing ourselves at the dragstrip.
I really haven't missed beer at all. I did fall victim to the dreaded chicken wings a few weeks ago; forgot to do my homework first and was in shock when I figured out just how many calories were in those 10 little wings I had
Pickles, cheese sticks, turkey pepperoni are some good little snacks for the race.
You'll be fine.

Hi Phyllis,

Just a few more snack ideas...

shrimp with cocktail sauce (made with 1 carb ketsup and horseradish)

ham rollups (take 1 slice of lean ham, smear 1/2 teaspoon of fat free cream cheese, or laughing cow cheese across the ham, lay an asparagus spear across the middle of the ham and roll up).

stuffed celery(with laughing cow cheese or PB2)

deviled eggs (made with eggland's best eggs, fat free mayo, dijon mustard and sprinkled with paprika).

buffalo chicken tenders(pan fry with Pam chicken tenderloin strips, then toss with Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce)

stuffed mushroom caps(see recipe thread for recipe)

The frozen chocolate cheesecake bites (recipe thread) are a quick and easy desert for such an occassion.

Happy racing!

Hello Everyone, I have my first appointment tomorrow at 12:45. I'm so excited to get started on this program. I was second guessing my decission earlier today when I came across this site. I know how important it is to share success as well as failures with people who are in the same boat. I lost my mother to cancer in December and wouldn't have made it without family, friends and the support group I poured my heart out to on line! I look forward to sharing this experience with all of you. Sherrie
