Hi all,
I know I have been off the posts for a few days. I have had one horrible flu/cold/hell !
I am on my antibiotics and I think they are doing the trick. As you know, and my mother told you, I have not been feeling well at all. I finally had some energy yesterday and I went to my clinic to weigh in. I lost another 6.3 pounds. I really have not gotten off plan, but I have not really been eating, as I had no appetite while sick. I was able to drink those EAS shakes and do chicken broth. I had miracle noodle soup one day. I also had a progresso lite soup of southwestern veggy that was really not bad. I did not lose much in fat weight, but the Dr. told me that is normal as your body is sick, that is what it holds on to. She told me to be prepared that I might gain some of that back once I feel better. I have been living off 2% cheese sticks by cracker barrel and EAS shakes. I did go totally off meds for 6 days as the prescriptions I am on advised against any kind of diet meds. I asked the Medi Dr. about this last night and she explained it all to me so this a.m. I started back on Vitamin, calcium and fat burner. I am not taking suppressants as I am not hungry at all. I am actually having to force myself to eat something. Just wanted to let you guys know that I did lose (and pretty big number) this week, even while sick.

Susie,
I would love to meet you next week. I can make my appointment on Tuesday afternoon and meet you afterwards. I will PM you with my number.

Thanks for all the support while I was sick. Mom, thanks for all your encouragement. I love you.

Rhi,

Great to hear about the loss of weight but your health comes first as I said in an earlier post. Don't worry about it until you get better. Then we better see you in the gym LOL

Feel better.

I was wondering about the WF version but I went ahead and ordered PB2 online to see how that works out. Sounds like a yummy treat with celery to me

I like the Walden Farms version but I cook with it and don't eat it plain so that may be part of it.

HI ALL

Thank god for Wednesday got all my supplements and my meds. Got weighed in and down 4 more lbs. for a total of 20lbs hooray but the only thing that is bad I am out of ketosis and I gained fat not much and lost 3 lbs of water but lost a few oz of muscle. Oh well now that I got all my meds I can go back to just protein for 3 days and then hopefully I will be back in ketosis. Tomorrow jury duty don't know how I am going to do this but I will bring some deli meat for a snack.
Rhi glad your on the mend and if you think its cold in Florida (my parents live in boynton beach) you should feel NY the temp here is 22 ouch!!! Ok be well everyone. My bday is Tuesday but I will be good next Wednesday need a good weight loss. My husband is leaving for Vegas on my bday to work he does the trade shows out there builds the booths for the clients. So I will be hanging with the girlfriends. Partying for my bday on valentines day, and yes I told them at the clinic.

OK talking to much. I will be quiet now. Good Night All.
PS Robyn missed you by minutes today oh well maybe next week.

Hello everyone! Hope the week has been good to ya'll so far...almost the weekend, and it couldn't get here faster!! I ordered some items from Walden Farms, and oh my...I personally do not like the taste. Everything tastes similiar to the other. Live and learn I guess. I am a HUGE PB fan so I of course, got WF PB and yuck!! I read a few posts about the PB2, so I will be ordering that soon. Take care and have a blessed day

Hey Restart,
Let me know if you find any products at any of our local stores. I just found a store online on Michigan Ave in Pensacola that I am going to try to get to either this weekend or next week. Ever'Man's didn't really have anything low-carb, just organic stuff mostly. Have you been to Four Winds yet? I have ordered stuff online but would much rahter be able to buy one or 2 things rather than some of the bulky minimum orders!

Almost Lost It

As most of you have read, I've been struggling big time. I stayed pretty close to plan yesterday, probably went too high in fat because I had slim jims in a moment of weakness and I was on the road so I couldn't get to my turkey pepperoni....I made it safely through dinner last night and woke up hoping for a good day. Made my lunch ahead (cottage cheese and turkey breast; turkey pepp and LC cheese) but only had time to grab an EAS shake for breakfast. I had eaten all of that by 10am. I even had some dark chocolate peanut M&Ms that have been sitting in my desk since before Christmas--I had forgotten they were there until I became ravenous. My lunch break just started about 15 minutes ago and I was going back and forth about venturing into the school cafeteria and well, basically, cheating. I decided to do it.
I went in there and nothing looked at all appetizing. It was like looking at a line of carb facts written in bubbles above each item and they food looked so gross. I passed it all up because it just wasn't worth the cheat. I mean, if I am going to cheat, it better be for a really good reason and it better at least TASTE good. So, thank GOODNESS it looked nasty and I was able to rationalize it not being worth the cheat.
I remembered I had some almonds in my car so I went out, grabbed them, and am back here at my desk with the almonds and my water.
I am going to turn the news on and do some crunches in a few minutes to keep me busy and remind me what it's all about.

Hang in there Anne, you will make it. I go through that too but the important thing to remember is if you have a bad day or two and do eat off plan, it's not the end of the world and getting back on plan is the best thing to do. Don't beat yourself up over it or let it get you down.

Thank you. Sometimes I just "miss" some of those foods I used to have (like pizza, ice cream and normal chicken wings)....but I also know that that is what got me to the point I am at (oh, and not working out...). It costs more to eat healthy and it takes a lot more planning. I want SO BADLY to get to a point where I can run again and be able to shop at normal stores (heck, I'd like to just fit into the stuff in my own closet!) and then I have these days where I consider sabotaging myself. I once read an article in a women's magazine about how women unknowingly will sabotage themselves when they are losing weight because there is some underlying fear about the added pressure that could come with being thinner and the "now what" after you've put so much energy into a goal and so on... I know it sounds absurd, but it really made sense to me at that time and I always think about it when I am knee-deep into a program and then start slipping. I'm going to search for that article and see what it said about overcoming those silly fears so I can make sure that isn't what I am doing to myself. Maybe I need to search within myself, too, to figure out exactly what I am so afraid of. Anyone else have those kind of feelings or am I just weird? Man...thinking about this makes me want to cry!!

Thanks again for your support, Jon...I've got a shipment of Miracle Noodles on their way as well as a handful of products from netrition.com so I hope those "tools" will help me perservere!!!

It is a medically supervised plan. You can get the basic information at Medi-Weightloss Clinics® - Physician-supervised weight loss clinics

Anne, I know exactly what you are talking about here. As I have gotten closer to my goal weight I have been wondering, "What now?" I have gotten a lot of compliments from people about my weight loss and this also triggers a fear in me. I think to myself, what am I going to say to people or how am I going to be able to look them in the eye if I go off plan and balloon back up to 250+ pounds ever again?

Right now I have a goal and a focus and it is keeping me mostly on track. Once I reach that goal and am in the maintenance phase, I am just not sure how I am going to sustain my enthusiasm for constantly monitoring my calorie intake.

On the positive side of this though, I have really been enjoying running again and even though I started doing it again to help with the weight loss, I am looking more to it for the long term maintenance and I think it will be my main focus and driving force once I am at goal. I ran 3 miles in 26 minutes and 26 seconds today and I am going to keep trying to improve on my 3 mile time while also working on my distance endurance.

Jon,

Once you get to the maintainance phase you get a lot more variety which makes it a lot easier. You will be able to add back in whole grain bread, brown rice, cereal, starches more veggies and fruits. They will also increase your calorie intake. You will occasionally be able to have the things you miss most because you will learn how to deal with it.

Remember that the sacrafice that you make now will have big payoffs in the end. Hang in there Anne, you can do this. It is not always easy and i think of food like a drug but worse. Because food temptations are all around us. Food is used at social gatherings, make you feel better etc. When you get to your goal you will know that you can accomplish anything and feel even more empowered because of what you and so many others try to achieve. We are all here for you but in the end you are the ONE that has to do it. If you want it bad enough, then nothing will stand in your way. Hang in there and remember this phase that we are in will not last forever.

Good Luck

You need to stop beating yourself up so badly. Of course you crave foods you love. You are human. We are not perfect creatures. You are not self sabotaging yourself...you might just be "hungry". Talk to your Medi Counselor, perhaps she can suggest something for you to help you. Try thinking about what kind of flavor/taste you are craving, and having something legal to abate it. Pickles always take away a sweet tooth for me. Unfortunately, when you are making such drastic food changes in your diet, you will have moments when you are craving certain foods (especially around TOM or during stressful or emotional times).

Krissy is exactly right. When I have cravings I try to figure out what they are and what I can legally make to satisfy the craving. I know it is not exactly the same thing you are craving, but it makes me feel satisfied. If that doesn't work, how about in addition to having the substitute you have a bite of the real thing. Then you've eaten something legal so you're not hungy, and you finish with the taste of the thing you were craving. Just a thought. You might also need to have your appetitite suppressents adjusted. Hang in there Anne, were all behind you.
