I shop in Cape/ N Ft. Myers area. I did find some stuff at Publix at Santa Barbara/Pine Island Rd. I'm going to try to check out Skinny Pantry this weekend. Do they carry a full line of Walde Farms products? Or am I stuck ordering online?

McBoo - do the meds speed up your metabolism, or is it only an appetite suppressant? I know for sure the fat burners make you pee more!!

It sounds like you live near me. Publix on Del Prado and Kismet sells a lot of Walden Farms products. The Super Target on Pine Island Road does as well.

I didn't use the butter, substituted eggbeaters for the eggs, hormel bacon bits for the bacon, and veggie slices for the swiss cheese. By my accounts 1/4 of the 1/2 recipe is 134 calories, 4g fat and 3g carbs.

Awesom Quiche Lorraine

2 tbs. butter
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup sliced fresh button mushrooms
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups half-n-half
2 tbs. sour cream
1/2 pound bacon, cooked crisp, drained & crumbled
1/4 pound (1 cup) shredded swiss cheese
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. coarse salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
How To Prepare:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a quiche pan or a 1 1/2 quart baking dish with a nonstick vegetable spray. Set aside.
Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and saute' for 3 min.,stirring occasionally. Add the mushrooms and cook for 3 min. or until softened, stirring occasionally.
Set aside.

Combine the eggs, egg yolks,half-n-half and sour cream in a medium bowl. whisk until well blended. Add the cooked onion mixture and the rest of the ingredients and blend well. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until set in the center and golden brown on top. Cool at least 10 minutes befor serving.
When can you start using things like whipped cream, sour cream, yogurt, etc. that I have seen mentioned in your recipes? I am dying to try your cheesecake bites, but only finishing third week now and my clinic told me it will be the exact same dies until I reach my goal. None of those ingredients were mentioned to me. I did try your crustless pizza during super bowl using one of "treats" for the week and it was great! It satisfied the pizza craving I was having while everyone else indulged.

I am so excited to see the weight loss everyone is having! Good job. I also love how supportive everyone is towards one another. I am looking forward to my 3rd weigh in to see how much I have lost in 20 days!

Let's keep it up.

It certainly helps when you start adding veggies to see which ones affect you more than others, etc.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

Teacherdli,

Skinny Pantry has a full line of Walden Farms items and other medi friendly items. The owner is a medi patient and has done the plan successfully. If you like deli ham Sweetbay has a Lite Virginia Ham (Inspirations) that is only 30 calories for 2 oz and is delicious.

What ever works best for the group. I think that it will be great to have one post that shows the total for the group for the month of Feb. Please send me your total loss for the month on Feb 28th and I will post the results on Sunday March 1st. Thanks to all that would like to participate.

50lbs as a group would be awesome

If your clinic has told you not to incorporate anything other than strictly protein and exact amount of veggies, I don't want to go against what they are saying...but for me, I have used sour cream a couple of times (made a mock-taco salad minus the taco ). I have also endulged in some light or fat-free cool whip (the frozen kind). As long as you are maintaining a balanced number of healthy proteins, adding in these extra fats and carbs should just be journaled and by the 3rd week I would assume you would be allowed to have some of them. There are a lot of products out there that work on our plan, you just have to check for the best and ask on here for brands that other folks have found. Sometimes a regular product is actually "better" than low-fat or fat free due to the added sugars/carbs to make it "low-fat". You should definitely ask at your next visit...perhaps be prepared with a list of items you would like to incorporate so they know you have a plan.

I was back in ketosis by last night after Sunday's debacle. I worked out HARD in the gym yesterday but paid for it with a migraine all night. I was really pleased that I ran for 30 minutes without stopping in addition to warming up and cooling down. I have my appointment this afternoon and am expecting 0 lb loss according to my scale at home but am looking forward to their help to get me through this slump. My strict protein from yesterday was:
B-2 turkey sausage links
L-3 oz turkey breast and 1/3 cup 2% cottage cheese
D-2 egg whites with 1tbsp real bacon bits

I know I did not get enough calories in but it's funny how the more strict I am on protein, the easier it is to stave off hunger. Also, my workout gave me that terrible migraine and along with that a stomachache so I wasn't really in the mood to eat anything...I had the eggs becasue I knew my body needed them.

Coaching is going well...the weather is so back and forth down here in Florida!! It was frigid and misting rain all during practice yesterday and looks like it will be chilly again today. First game (pre-season classic) is Friday

I've got to try to remember all of my questions and write them down before my appointment today! I always get in there and forget

Thanks to everyone on this board I had only eaten my Fage Greek Yogurt for breakfast and had made Chicken Breast slices to bring for my lunch so I was somewhat prepared.

I arrived at the clinic and they were sooo friendly and helpful. I did all the requisite tests and got my two shots and met with the Nurse Practioner to go over the plan and answer any questions. I received my appetite suppresant, vitamins, fat burner, water bottle, journal and cool little bag to carry everything in. I also bought two boxes of the bars, one of each flavor. I didn't buy the shakes as I had already bought the EAS product recommended here on the boards.

I can go in for my midweek shot at anytime through out the next week. They didn't give out the Ketosis strips, they just test you when you come in for your next visit.

Coincidently we are starting a "Biggest Loser" contest at my office and the weigh in is this afternoon!

I know the next couple of days will be challenging, but nothing like jumping right in!! It is all a bit dizzying...

Welcome! The more, the merrier! Yea, I got the keychain AND a choice of a food scale or water bottle. I also got the Keatone sticks. Funny how each office is different in that aspect.

I am seeing a lot of people saying they are eating egg whites instead of the whole egg. I also noted that the information I got from the clinic states having 3 eggs for breakfast but 1 or 2 of them with no yolk. Why?

When I started the plan I tried the egg-white only, just wasn't satisfying to me. I get the store brand egg beaters now (much easier on the wallet and tastes the same).
I would imagine the no yolk info from your clinic has to do with the cholesteral.

BTW - your pic looks great - I can really see a difference. Great Job!

Thanks for all the kind remarks everyone! You would think I would have that kind of problem as big as I am but I had a 157...well under 200. My LDL was 87...under 100. The Dr couldn't believe how good my blood work came out considering my weight and age (45).

That is awesome--you're very lucky to not have to worry about that stuff. I personally like the eggwhites better....they are fluffier to me; plus I save on fat AND calories by choosing them over eggbeaters or whole eggs. AND if I can't have them sunny-side-up with toast to dip into it...well, that isn't worth it
For a while I was buying hard-boiled eggs (yes, I buy them already hard-boiled ) and was having one every couple of days but found that for the amount of calories/fat, I could have something else--like turkey pepperoni with a laughing cow cheese triangle.

My appointment is for today, but I had to cancel them this time. Both my sons are home from school with a stomach virus and I think its starting on me now too. Yuck!

I am going to try and reschedule for tomorrow in the afternoon whenever they can get me in. I will let you know.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the food scale. You're right - it was a choice between the water bottle or the food scale. I took the food scale.

Throwing out another question but will ask it Friday at my appointment too. Are these good ranges for daily intake?

Calories 1,000 - 1,200 (set by clinic so no question here)
Fat Less than 50g
Carbs Less 15g max, normally 8-12g
protein 120-150g
Sodium 900-2,400mg max, normally 1,500-2,000mg

My clinic has only really put an emphasis on the calories and carbs.
Dr. told me that he likes to see carbs at max 20, preferably 15.

Saw some people today that I have not seen for 5 months (before Medi) ALL commented on the loss.
Had to have one of "those" responses though..... " oh the B12 shots, they are starving you" yada yada yada..........
I responded that I feel better than I have in years and that the program is not evil if followed correctly.
Weigh in today at 3:15pm and hitting the gym on the way back home. This will only be 5 days since last weigh in as the clinic asked me to change my day; they were really busy on Thursday evenings.

Could use some positive thoughts from my Medi family..... Yesterday was my first day being unemployed . I did have an interview today with a previous employer, seemed to go really well but, the hiring process can take 1 to 2 weeks.

Will update sats when I get home.

I have a dilemma, Dh wants me to plan a trip to Universal Studios in Florida and I am worried about not losing weight and going off track while I am there. Is it possible to lose weight on vacation? Does anyone know what I can eat there?

Did you ask the nurse or doctor about the bars? I would think that you shouldn't have them until a couple of weeks in. If you're looking for a quick on-the-go meal or snack, I'd recommend the EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control shakes as opposed to the protein bar. Just my opinion...

Thanks for the feedback. No bar for me today! Ha Ha
I think they gave them to me because I discussed how I travel a lot for my job and I was worried about plane travel, airports and situations where it is difficult to grab a snack.

Of course I wasn't traveling yesterday just kinda curious about how they tasted!!

I do have some of the EAS AdvantEDGE shakes (choc fudge I think). So I will go with that today!

Thanks again!

Every restaurant in the park has salad. I know it gets boring, but chicken ceasar, or shrimp ceasar, is a good option (no croutons and get your dressing on the side. Dip your fork in the dressing, then into your salad. You will eat less dressing that way). Also, a grilled chicken sandwich minus the bread will work, with lettuce and tomato. How long will you be there? For dinner, i'd get fish or chicken, just make sure you know how they prepare it, and ask for it plain if need be. If you want to splurge one night, get a filet mignon. It's the leanest cut of beef you can get, and isn't really cheating. You may be a little over on your fat grams while you're away, but I'd be more concerned with watching the carbs.
