To all the biggest losers this week, you are all my heros!!!
Congratulations! I share your excitement. I was so excited to get into 14's and then 12's. Now my 12's are starting to get slightly loose. Your husband isn't right. Part of keeping your motivation is feeling good about yourself. It is positive reinforcement and now that we can no longer reward ourselves with food, why not by buying a smaller pair of jeans. Keep up the good work.

Rhonda,
I know your excitement. It really does feel great to buy those smaller sizes and they actually fit. Just remember you wont be in that size for a long period of time. Soon they will be too big. If you need to just buy a couple of things (you may want to look at an outlet or discount store in your area) or cinch then tightly with a belt. (It worked on Dynasty in the 80's lol).

Congratulations on your success.

I was one of those people who did not throw away my skinny clothes. I was on my way to getting into them when I got pregnant with child number two. It is now 5 1/2 years later and I am still carrying around his baby weight. I turned thirty last march and decided to change my life. I was doing weight watchers at the time and getting a little of the weight off, but decided to start graduate school, work full time (I teach 9th grade algebra and believe me my job is not 8 to 3, it is more like 7 to 6), raise two incredible boys who have been diagnosed with in the last 6 months with ADD and the other ADHD, full time mom and wife to a husband who is supporting in all of my adventures in life these days. My ob/gyn who added the medi clinic onto his practice is an unbelivable doctor and he has an incredible staff. I decided I would give it a shot. My test results came back showing that I might have some thyroid issues and I saw my regular doctor the Thursday of my second week. I find out tomorrow morning from my blood results if my thyroid is a current issue. I am unbelievable pleased with the program. I am determined to fit back into my skinny clothes. My weekly appointment is tomorrow afternoon, I will update once I get home.

Hubby went w/me to Target to PU a few things last week. I told him I just want one NEW pair of jeans. Went and grabbed a pair 1 size smalled than I had on right then. Went to try them on and he asked me why I just didn't take the next size smaller just in case. I said no, not wanting the disappointment when that pair wouldn't come close to buttoning.
Well he was right (hate it when that happens LOL). So I left the dressing room and grabbed the next size down and headed to the checkout - he says why don't you try those on? No need I say - these will be fine.
I get them home and put them on to find out that I should have tried them on (duh) needed the next size down. I still find it so hard to believe that I hvae dropped sizes like this.

That is one of those returns you walk in with your head way up in the air. When they ask if anything is wrong with them, this time you won't reply with "they don't fit" you will say " they are to BIG"

High five!!! Awesome job. It feels so good doesn't it. It will be nice to return something for being too BIG I'm sure. I bought a new pair of jeans two weeks ago and can't believe they are already getting big.

Every week I get all excited about what I think I'm going to loose, then on the day of my weigh in my weight suddenly goes up a pound or two from water. So, I am experimenting tonight as I weigh in tomorrow. I did a google search on natural diuretic foods and herbs. I found this site which was very interesting... Natural Diuretics: Fight High Blood Pressure, Water Retention Naturally. Here are some excerpts:

"Skip the medicine aisle and peruse the produce section: asparagus, artichokes, celery, cranberries, cucumbers, melons, parsley, watercress, and watermelon are all known for their diuretic properties. Including some of these foods in your diet everyday—while also reducing salt and carbohydrate intake and drinking plenty of water—can result in fluid reduction.

Other herbs also can be used for their mild diuretic abilities. They are available singly or in combination formulas at natural food stores and pharmacies, both actual and online.

Green tea: used as a diuretic for centuries in China
Dandelion: improves functioning of the kidneys
Stinging nettle: the roots are especially useful as a diuretic, although all parts have diuretic properties
Linden: the flowers can increase urine production
Fennel: the volatile oil seems to be responsible for its diuretic action

While diuretics eliminate excess fluid, they can also remove essential vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes such as calcium, potassium, and chloride from your body. You may need to take a high-potency vitamin/mineral supplement to compensate for the loss of these essential nutrients while you are using any type of diuretic.

Diuretic Delight Salad
1 large bunch of watercress, stems removed

1 large cucumber, peeled and sliced thin

1 red onion, sliced thin

˝ cup diced celery

1 cup cooked asparagus, cooled and cut into 1-2 inch pieces

Ľ cup olive oil

1/8 cup balsamic vinegar

1 clove garlic, minced

2 Tbs chopped fresh basil

Combine the vegetables in a large bowl. Combine the remaining ingredients in a shaker jar and pour over the vegetables. Mix well and chill."

Tonight I had a cup of green tea, cucumbers and celery, all on the list. I will let you know how my water does tomorrow.

Increase Hunger

It could be from not drinking enough water but not sure. Since I have started lifting weights again I have noticed that I am more hungry and getting cravings again. Any Advice?

Good Morning all! It's the last week of February! Let's Get it on!!! Or off in our case! I finally found those shiritaki noodles I've heard so much about. I know it's somewhere in these posts but I'm being lazy this morning. What is the best way to prep them and where and what brand makes the low sugar or no sugar ragu sauce? ANd has anybody tried these in a tuna cassarole?

Mchestnut,

Make sure you get in all your water. It is very important. How much lifting are you doing? If it is a lot you may need to up your calories because your body may not have enough fuel. Make sure you ask that when you go to the clinic. If you don't want to wait maybe a quick phone call to the clinic can answer the question.

Good Luck.

On another note it appears I am coming down with the bug that has been going around here. So if you don't see me posting as often you will know why.

Good luck to everyone this week.

Biggars63,

There are 2 different kinds of noodles. Miracle Noodles and Shirataki Tofu Noodles. I buy my Miracle Noodles online. I have a subscription, so I get them delivered every other month. These noodles have 0 calories. There is another noodle called shirataki tofu noodles that have 40 calories per bag. I have found these at Whole Foods and Publix here in Orlando.

If you go to the website Shirataki MiracleNoodle Shop!, you will see how they have helped many people lose weight. They also have recipes and prep.

The prep that works best for me is to rinse them, then soak them in ice water with a splash of vinegar. The vinegar neutralizes the fishy smell. Then I drain them and towel dry them. I microwave them for 45-60 seconds and pat them dry a little more. From this point you can do all sorts of things with them like put them in broth, stir fry with them, make fettucini girlfredo (recipe in the recipe thread), but my favorite thing to do is spray them with butter spray, sprinkle a little bit of Johnny's garlic spread and seasoning, and top with 2 Tbsp of parmesan cheese. It's only 40 calories for the whole dish. I have made tuna casserole out of the tofu noodles and it was good.

I am going to post the prep in the recipe thread, so that it will be easy to find if you ever need to reference it again.

Bon Apetite and keep up the good work.

Susie

I lost another pound today for a total of 39.2. My weight loss has slowed down some, but as long as I am doing the right things and living the lifestyle I don't really care. Slow and steady wins the race. My husband is trying to eat healthier and go low carb too and wants me to cook low carb for the whole family. So the plan has had a positive effect on us all.

McBoo, I hope you don't come down with that nasty flu and if you do get well quickly. Didn't you already have it once? Not fair.

Congratulations on being down another pound

Thanks Susie,

Yeah I had it over Christmas when a visiting relative from the north brought it with them. Friday at the gym there were a bunch of sick snowbirds that decided to come to the gym to sweat it out. Instead they have made others sick.

FYI when you are sick don't go to the gym. You are exposing others to your illness. Stay home until you feel better.

Susie-

I made the eggplant parmesan last night. I thought it was wonderful. My husband is eatting heathier even though he is not doing Medi. He loved it. I even got my 5 and 11year old to eat it, they liked it (not something I see getting them to eat every time I make it).

I have to share this. My 5 year old has noticed the weight I loss. He told me I was getting flat. It made my day.

My weekly appointment is shortly and I hope to see a weight loss this week. I am picking up the amount of exercise and have found my body is requiring over 128 oz of water a day. I had mic shot mid week this week and have been able to tell a huge difference this weekend. I am not sluggish today. Enjoying my two days of Mardi Gras off.

Keep up the awesome work guys and the pounds will keep disappearing.

Shas

Hi everyone- Sorry I have been MIA- I didn't go in for a weigh-in yet since coming back from Disney. I also didn't take my pills at disney because I wasn't on plan there so I felt I didn't want to waste the meds.I got back on plan last Wednesday. Anyway, I wont be going in for my weigh in until march 4 because I have enough meds until then. I started walking on the treadmill yesterday and have been walking for 1 hour at 3 mph. I weighed at home this morning and got a loss of 5 lbs!!

The nurse today told me that I could come in for a mid-week shot at no cost... what shot is she referring to? The B or MIC?

That would be the MIC shot. At my clinic the B-shot is $15 extra. I do feel the extra MIC helps if you can work it into your schedule.

Good Luck.

On another note it appears I am coming down with the bug that has been going around here. So if you don't see me posting as often you will know why.

Good luck to everyone this week.

Poor McBoo, I hope you feel better soon. Us Northerners should stay up north!

McBoo, I hope you don't come down with that nasty flu and if you do get well quickly. Didn't you already have it once? Not fair.
