Bites

Also, I bought the Hungry-Girl cookbook at Target and the recipe for the bites in there includes a 25 calorie hot cocoa packet but I think that is the only difference. There are some other recipes in there that I plan on trying so I'll let you know...most of them will be for down the line when I can up my carbs but they are still healthy. There are even cocktail recipes in there!

Good February everyone! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!! I had a sick daughter I had to tend to, and oh boy does she love the extra attention. Well, I weighed in last Friday and since the previous weigh in on 1/2 (almost a month apart due to being oot) I lost 7 lbs. I don't think that is all that great. They told me my fluid went up almos 1.2 lbs. I'm not sure why, because I have not steered off the program at all, and I have not gotten out of ketosis. Maybe I'm not drinking ENOUGH water, I'm not sure, but that was a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, any loss is a good loss, but that seems low for almost 4 weeks. I plan on returning to the gym today and getting as committed with it as my diet, so hopefully that will help further the drop in pounds, but we shall see. I go again next friday 2/13...hopefully my body will shift into gear like it was the first several weeks.

I did try the cheesecake bites...a bit too much. I think the sugar (splenda) sent my already-craving body into overdrive. I had way more than my share and then ate non-plan foods that night....hence my earlier post that "I had a bad day".
BUT the bites are very good and I think I need to make them when I am NOT craving things and then put them in serving sized baggies. It's so scary to me how quickly I can fall back into my bad habits. I have a history of bulimia and if I am not in control 100%, I'll binge and then want to purge and the cycle continues. This plan has helped me because I feel so in control but one little thing, like "healthy" cheesecake was hard for me to handle... I think I need to have more of the plan under my belt before getting too creative with that kind of stuff. My husband thought they were the best thing in the world and my sister was amazed....at least I did share with 2 other people

I changed my appointment from today to tomorrow so I can have time for a hard workout in the gym. I think tomorrow I'll be paying for the extra shot to help me stay in gear. All night last night when I was thinking about how disappointed I was that I fell off plan (had chili...bread....tortilla chips....), I kept thinking of McBoo's words whenever someone falls off for a moment and comes to this board for help. I know the past is the past and right now I am at least proud that although I felt like I binged----it was NOTHING compared to before Medi AND I didn't purge---I thought about it---but I knew that TODAY I can get right back on the horse, go to the gym, to the clinic tomorrow and be smiling again by Wednesday. Ahh...had to get that out.
I agree about the bites being almost too good. I will only make them when my whole family is around so that I don't get more than my share (my boys see to that).

I think we are entitled to mess up every once in a while, we are human. Today is a new day and a new start. You know exactly what you need to do and you will do it.

I however fell off the horse so to speak. Wednesday the office closed due to snow and ice. It really wasn't that bad but who am I to say, with that said I told them I had no more meds and they said see you next week, that its all mind over matter. Ok It was my son's b=day and my husband daughter and his girlfriend went out to dinner and yes I ate. I came home and ate again junk food, bad girl.
Thursday was good all day and then the evening came and the bad girl came out again. What is wrong with me?? Friday I was good cheated a little. Today was very good. I don't know if it is mind over matter but can't wait for Wednesday for the meds & supplements and shots. Any words of wisdom to get through the next three days, it would be great. Should I even hope for a weight loss.
Hi Rhonda-
I read your post and totally identified. My appt at the center in S.I. was also cancelled for Wednesday and they told me the same thing about meds....it's mind over matter. I also was on and off for the following day or so. I have to get to the point where I don't eat out of habit, boredom, etc. anymore. I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to create a habit, so I am hoping to be able to do 21 "good" days on MediWeightLoss and then it will be more habitual to do the right thing.

Having this board for support is great. When I had a bad day it was good to read that others had bad days and recovered. Made me able to not beat myself up too badly and get back to it.

Have a great week!

I make eggbeater omelettes too, but I put different things in them all the time, like canadian bacon, lean ham, turkey bacon or 2 links of the turkey sausage. For cheese I use the veggie slices.

I can already see a big difference in your face. Keep up the good work and you will hit your goal for next month.

Second week weigh-in

First off, thanks for answering my questions about the bars & shakes. Today I bought the vanilla shake powder. I lost just 1 pound today even though I have not gone off the plan or out of ketosis. Sigh. I have a problem eating enough and although did better, I completely forgot the snacks & fats I was supposed to have added this week. I'm so encouraged by the friendly help here with great weight losses. My clinic isn't too "user friendly", but talking to others in the waiting room is encouraging.
We can do this!!!

So I called at 10am this morning to make an appointment and they said that they had just had a cancellation for 11:30 and could I come then. Wow, this is happening fast but I said "yes". Thanks to everyone on this board I had only eaten my Fage Greek Yogurt for breakfast and had made Chicken Breast slices to bring for my lunch so I was somewhat prepared.

I arrived at the clinic and they were sooo friendly and helpful. I did all the requisite tests and got my two shots and met with the Nurse Practioner to go over the plan and answer any questions. I received my appetite suppresant, vitamins, fat burner, water bottle, journal and cool little bag to carry everything in. I also bought two boxes of the bars, one of each flavor. I didn't buy the shakes as I had already bought the EAS product recommended here on the boards.

I can go in for my midweek shot at anytime through out the next week. They didn't give out the Ketosis strips, they just test you when you come in for your next visit.

Coincidently we are starting a "Biggest Loser" contest at my office and the weigh in is this afternoon!

I know the next couple of days will be challenging, but nothing like jumping right in!! It is all a bit dizzying...

It is always interesting to see the differences at each clinic---I didn't get a water bottle so I am a little jealous Instead, I got a keychain pill holder--haha. Also, I was given ketostix so I can test every day. I wonder if they will give you the stix at your 2nd visit once they determine you are fully in ketosis? It certainly helps when you start adding veggies to see which ones affect you more than others, etc.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

The second week I couldn't even finsh my eggbeaters. Back on them the third week and all is good.
I only have 1/4 cup (1 egg) with an add in for breakfast. Sometimes I'll do a 1/2 cup (2 eggs) with add ins for dinner.
Most of the time I just saute some garlic and dried herbs in Pam Olive Oil Spray or Olivio Spray "butter", then add my egg and a cheese.

My starter kit was the little backpack, ketosis sticks, keychain pill holder, journal (got a new journal when I filled up the first one) and a scale. No water bottle here in Tampa, my mother bought me a new one for Christmas though.

When I went back in for my second visit my test results were in. My cholesteral was very high so it was suggested that I add in Omega 3. I have a family history of bone density issues so it was also suggested to add in extra calcium. NEITHER clinic supplement was forced on me, my clinic never pressures. I ended up buying elsewher to save some money.

Darn, I didn't get a pill holder! But I went back and looked at my receipt and it says Keychain Pill Holder - Included. I will have to ask when I go back later this week!

My clinic told me that people were having so much trouble gtetting an accurate reading with the ketostix that they stopped giving them out...........

They also told me not to start the fat burner until week two.

Me and my wife love the keychain pill holder. I have found that when I put more then one fat burner in it that they can get stuck..other then that it is great to be able to take your meds with you.

Have you tried the publix brand of eggbeaters. Its about 1/2 the cost and taste exactly the same. I agree the variety with Ham, Turkey, canadian bacon also helps. Gives it a bit of variety.

The Costco brand of eggbeaters taste exactly the same too and are a lot less expensive. Canadian Bacon is my favorite in the omelettes and sometimes a hebrew national 97% fat free hot dog.

McBoo
Never thought to put the hebrew national hot dogs in. That would be good too. I sometimes have those with sauerkraut.

I made this 1/2 of the recipe below from Carb Lovers recipe section and it was delicious... only problem was I wanted more. I just had to walk away. I didn't use the butter, substituted eggbeaters for the eggs, hormel bacon bits for the bacon, and veggie slices for the swiss cheese. By my accounts 1/4 of the 1/2 recipe is 134 calories, 4g fat and 3g carbs.

Awesom Quiche Lorraine

2 tbs. butter
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup sliced fresh button mushrooms
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups half-n-half
2 tbs. sour cream
1/2 pound bacon, cooked crisp, drained & crumbled
1/4 pound (1 cup) shredded swiss cheese
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. coarse salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
How To Prepare:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a quiche pan or a 1 1/2 quart baking dish with a nonstick vegetable spray. Set aside.
Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and saute' for 3 min.,stirring occasionally. Add the mushrooms and cook for 3 min. or until softened, stirring occasionally.
Set aside.

Combine the eggs, egg yolks,half-n-half and sour cream in a medium bowl. whisk until well blended. Add the cooked onion mixture and the rest of the ingredients and blend well. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until set in the center and golden brown on top. Cool at least 10 minutes befor serving.

I'm game. Put me down for 1.2 pounds per my weigh-in today. Every little bit helps.

Yep, she said it perfectly!

Yes, lets total our weight loss when we weigh in and send it to mchestnut. It will be great to see how much weight we lose in february as a group! That will be inspiring! I wonder if we can surpass 50 lbs?

Can we just post our weight loss on this thread or does it need to be PM'd to McChestnut?

I can see a really big difference in your picture already. Good job!
