McBoo,

Should we start an informative thread for week 1 folks with what to expect and tips to get through week 1? Jon Pryor wrote a lot of good information in the "Another Newbie" thread. Just a thought.

Go for it Susie. That is a good idea. It can make things easier for the newbies so the don't have to go through all the post in the other threads for the basics of the program.

I am also in RI... I go to the Cranston office and love the people there as well. It's nice to see someone here a little closer to me. Not that I don't love the FL people! Good luck, it sounds like we are about the point in the diet.

I went last Fri for my 2nd week... weigh in, but had a busy weekend and didn't get to post. My loss was 3.4lbs bringing me to a 2week total of 11.8. I also lost 1.5%of my fat.

Great idea! I ran into a friend at our clinic yesterday who didn't have the information I have gained from this site and she looked like she was going to drop after being on the program for 4 days. Newbies need this site!

You have made the right choice! The Medi plan really does work well and after you get through the first week or two you will feel so much better. The information and support you can get from this forums will really help and keep you motivated.

Back to feeling normal again

Hello fellow member friends.

I am back to feeling 100%..whew it was a tough week last week and over the weekend. Well just wanted to send out a reminder and what will make it much easier for me. Please on 2/28 everyone that wants to be included, private message me your total loss for Feb. On March 1st I will do a group total. I love reading all the great success stories every week. I know that us as a group will have a large weight loss. I weighed myself today and I am finally below the 200lb mark I will post my official weight on Friday. Everyone keep up the good work..to the newbies or those about to join, you will see that this is one of the best decision that you will make for yourself and health. This of it as a lifestyle change and not a fad diet.

But since I could taste all the stuff it was all cooked in, I didn't eat much. It was just too rich. I was so happy with myself that I just left it alone. At Cracker Barrel I ordered grilled chicken salad off the new low carb menu with dressing on the side. However, they brought me the one with croutons. It took all willpower in my body to not touch the croutons. But, I did it!!! And, I hardly used the dressing (dipped my fork in it maybe three times.) Since these were my first times eating out, I was happy I made good choices and left feeling like I was nicely full and happy with myself and had enjoyed a nice meal instead of stuffed to the brim and barely able to move.
I'm gald to hear you resisted the carb stuff too! The Cracker Barrel was a huge lesson in willpower. I usually eat 3 biscuits plus food. I won't be going back for a while though, I just went for my husband. I think I will stick to the eat at home plan until I lose a substantial amount of weight.

Thank you McBoo...It has been more then 10 years since being below 200. I am going to the gym to do some light weight lifting tonight. It has been about 6 months since I have lifted. I hope I don't get too sore, I really hate that LOL.

Tired of Eggs

This morning I woke up late (no school today) and just didn't feel like making eggs again, especially since I knew I would be eating lunch shortly in order to get it in before going to my 2nd job. So, I tried something new and it turned out good so I thought I would share. If this has been found, tried, and shared by others, sorry for double post.

I took 4-5 frozen strawberries (also drizzled in a little WF strawberry sauce) and put them in blender until they were very, very small chunks (a thick sauce/puree like). Added 1/2 scoop Medi Vanilla Whey Protein Shake Mix, 1/2 cup + a little more (maybe like a tbsp) of unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze, and a little more WF strawberry sauce. Blended into a smoothie. Very refreshing. Not too filling, but refreshing. May have been more filling if I had done a whole thing of the protein powder?? However, it tasted great.

I get tired of eggs too. I think I'm going to try the pancakes today.

I started a new thread for newbies called " Welcome Newbies! Helpful info for week 1". I gathered all the information I had read on all the medi threads regarding week 1 and tried to incorporate it in a single post. Please feel free to add your tips or experiences. This way newbies don't have to search all the threads to find the information they really need. It might be nice to have a product recommendation/review thread as well.

Congrats to Jefferys girl, Mathteacher, acupp1, and stepheniela1 for your weight loss. I'm glad you are feeling better McChestnut. Now that you are in the 1's you are right around the corner from your goal. McBoo and Celiamac need company. It looks like Jon Pryor and a few others will join them soon. Please keep a spot open for me.

Hey Rhonda-
Glad to see you back here. Belated Happy Birthday! I think you're doing exactly what you should to take off whatever you put on over the week. The pounds are probably more water than anything else. Only thing I can suggest is that if you're off all week try and keep busy. For me the times when I am bored or unoccupied are the hardest. Old habits die hard and even though I may not be hungry I still feel the urge to eat. Somehow I need to try and break that habit.
Good luck!!
Robyn

My appt in SI is 4pm this Wednesday, so once again we will miss each other. Hopefully another time.

Let me know how they are. I just bought a pancake mix that's supposed to be medi friendly. According to directions I was given I just need to add about a tsp. to some egg beaters and a little splenda. May try next weekend.

I have a question...there are a lot of low cal, low carb products available. Once you get past the first week is it ok to experiment with them freely or are there some to avoid? For example I have found a low cal, low cab (90 cal per serv and 3 net carb) hot cereal. It has 1 g of fat and 0 g sugar. I am getting tired of eating a cheesestick for breakfast and thought this would be a great change. I'm questioning it because I was under the impression that we were to avoid cereals, bread, pasta, etc. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Robyn
