You picked a plan that really works. I've already lost 37 pounds and there are lots of other success stories on this site. Good luck and keep posting your losses. McChestnut is tracking how much we all lose in February.

I just made the stuffed mushrooms from the recipe page, only I added some crabmeat for some protein. OMG, they were delicous. Next time I'll add a tiny bit of jalapenos too. I love spicy!

Try this idea, I like it.
One small can (about 14.5 oz) of tomatoes, I like the Low Sodium Muir Glen Flame Roasted.
Open the can (duh) and process in the food processor or mini chopper until smooth or deisred consistency. Add some dried spices if you like. I personally don't miss the sugar at all. Used this instead of jat sauces even before Medi.

Welcome! You are in the right place. This is the first "diet" I have tried that I really feel will work...mainly because it's not a "diet, it's a lifestyle change with great support.

Try the crustles pizza too. I would think this would be a good race day treat...it will probably be mine since everyone else will be having wings and pizza.

By the way, I got the lowest sauce (I think it's Hunts- in a big red can) at Sweetbay, but I have seen it at Target & Publix. I just bought the Walden Farms marinara sauce to try. The owner of Skinny Pantry in Fleamasters sells all the Walden Farms stuff and when I mentioned the pizza she said it might be good with the WF Bruschetta also.

She had another idea for a crustless pizza which was to take ground beef or turkey and form into a flat crust and bake in oven until done in a baking dish, drain fat, and then layer on toppings as you usually would (FF cheese, veggies, SF sauce, turkey pepperoni) put back in oven and bake until cheese melts.

New Find

Since starting Medi I pretty much went cold turkey on my morning coffee and switched to herbal teas. My clinic DR suggested, after 1st week, to add in some green tea.
I just got a box of TAZO Green Ginger tea yesterday - this is really good.

Phyliss,

When you are standing in front of the store the medi friendly items are on the left hand side. I would ask Terry the owner to guide you. She is successfully on the plan and gets new items in all the time. Items I always pick up are Walden Farms Peanut Spread( I cook with it) and the syrups and mayo. I don't like the ketchup that much but some people do. I find the Heinz One Carb ketchup taste better.

If you like caramel dip for apples, the Walden Farms is great. I also just tried the WF strawberry syrup on the frozen cheesecake bites instead of doing chocolate syrup. Terry carries the miracle noodles and shirataki noodles. I haven't had much success with them, but everyone else really seems to like them. (I think it's just me.) I also have used the marshmallow dip on strawberries and the chocolate syrup (prefer to the chocolate dip). I know some people think the marshmallow dip is too sweet, but I thought it was a good contrast to tartness of strawberries. I have liked the WF salad dressings also. I didn't like the WF Honey BBQ sauce, but the others seem ok. Just one person's opinions.

I went yesterday and bought 3 more jars of caramel dip and maple syrup since I went through those quickly. I also bought 2 more packs of shirataki orzo. I am determined to get these noodles cooked right.

Terry is really nice and very helpful. Just ask her any questions you have when you get there. Do you know how to find her stall?

The recipe is posted in the recipe thread, but I added some Blue Star lump crab meat and suspect a tiny bit of diced jalapenos would be good in it too.

Stuffed Mushroom Caps

Mushroom Caps (hollowed)
Parmasean Cheese
Garlic Salt
1 Pack Fat Free Cream Cheese

Hollow the mushroom caps and fill with cream cheese mixture (cream
cheese, 3/4 cup parmasean cheese, and 1/2 tsp.garlic salt - add more to taste)
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375* and enjoy !!!!

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the program and new to your forum. I enjoy all of your advice and suggestions. The encouragement really helps. :-)

I am in week three and had a fun, off program Valentine's Day with my husband (they had fresh bread, right out of the oven!!! I couldn't resist!!!). Should I go back on strict protein for a few days? Since Miracle Noodles and sugar-free jello are SO low in carbs, would they be ok to eat over the next few days? By the way, I have been drying my miracle noodles in a dry wok over high heat to get them nice and dry. Really makes them taste good and have a nice texture. :-)

I finally got started

Hi guys. Remember me? I was lurking a few weeks ago and now I have officially started the program and am on day 3.

Can somebody out there answer this question? I am eating my 500 cal and tracking my carbs and fat in the little food diary book they gave me. Approximately, how many carbs and fat grams are we supposed to be shooting for on a daily basis during this first week?

Also, I read a comment that someone has given up caffeine. Are we supposed to?

Thanks for any advice you can offer,

Lynn

You can also find at Target one called Reduced Sugar Heinz. It is exactly the same as the one carb. Sweetbay in NFM also carries the One Carb.

Easiest way to find it is go in the main aisle A until you get to blue row...take blue row all the way down until it ends in a food court section. She is to the right of the food court section on the left hand side of that section (about across from the a lemonade stand and near a guy loudly selling orange cleaning towels.

I was back there today showing a friend how to find it.

I was told as long as I was eating from the suggested foods, my carbs & fat grams would be acceptable.

You don't HAVE to give up caffiene, but if you are taking appetite suppresants you shouldn't have more than 1 (maybe 2) a day. I thought if I didn't drink caffiene I would get bad headaches from it, but I don't. I even switched to decaf coffee because the caffiene coupled with the appetite suppressants made my heart race. Plus I have always found when trying to lose weight, for some reason I lose more when I drink diet caffiene free sodas versus just diet sodas. Hope this helps...and WELCOME to a life changing experience.

My clinic DR advised @15 carb g per day (no more than 20). As for fat, I just try and make sure the fat I take in is "good" fat...... I use the food guide in the back of my journal as my guide.
Both my clinic and the startup papers advised me to back off the caffiene as it can make your body retain water. I chose to cut it out all together-my choice, it was tough the forst week but I got used to it. Have only had 2 cups of real coffee in 2 months.

Caffeine is okay to have...just note that if you have coffee with cream to make sure you are using Sugar Free Cream. Also Caffeine can change your body water weight.
